Abstract

The device which facilitates maintenance by allowing raising of the contacts in a circuit breaker having two jaws (8,8') acting as contacts which are bridged by a conductive bar, comprises two insulated bases (1,1'), which can be separated one from the other by sliding them apart using a separating mechanism (12,15,17). Each insulated base carries contacts (7,7') which fit into the jaws (8,8') and extend upwards. The upper part of the contact is formed as spring jaws (9,9') which make contact with shaped projections (22) in the cover unit which is fitted across the contacts (9,9'). To ensure reliable connection the contacts (7,7') are wedged into the breaker contacts (8,8') by the slider (12,15,17) which uses a tapered (13) block (12) running on a screw (15,16) and forcing apart the tapered faces of the insulating bases, which are carried on rods (3,3') running in guides (4) in the base.
