Abstract

The screw-fixed retaining section (1) is for utilisation in the double glazing of existing windows with e rebated timber frame (2). The glazing comprises separate sheets (3) which are maintained apart by edge beads (3a and is clamped against the rebate-shoulder (11) by the retaining section (1). The section has a flat zone (8) by which it is fixed (7). The section may be of metal or plastic and may comprise a flat plate (8) with one longitudinal edge bent into a symmetrical triangular rib (12) ie. symmetrical about an axis normal to the major face of the plate. The plate returns beneath the rib (12) to form a retaining face (12c). For sill details the web (8) may subtend an acute angle with the rib (12), and preformed mastic strips (4, 5) may be included.
