Abstract

The frames are for use on wall openings, e.g. for windows or doors, and in walls (1) of cellular concrete blocks. An individual frame comprises two sides (9), a head and a sill (11), each having a width equal to the wall thickness. These members thus cover the horizontal and vertical wall faces which align perpendicular to the opening and may be of galvanised sheet steel. The system obviates thermal bridges. The members may be fixed to timber frames (4) which are set at the back of the opening, ie. on the inner face of the wall. The timber frames may in turn be fixed to angle irons (16, 17) which locate in horizontal blockwork (1) joints. Nails (18, 19) may be used for the fixings, and the outer edges (13) of the sides may include built on hinge pins for shutters.
