Abstract

The heater has a casing (13) with a cold water inlet (6). One branch goes from this through a finned tube (5) in the flue gas path of a gas burner (1). It leaves the heater through an outlet (9) with a valve (8). When this is operated water is heated continuously to a moderate temperature with a few second delay. Another branch (15) from the inlet goes to the ball valve (22) of a small water vessel (14). This has an electric heater (24) controlled by a thermostat (28) to maintain the water at boiling point. When the outlet (18) of this vessel is opened a small quantity of boiling water is immediately available for such purposes as making a cup of coffee or boiling an egg.
