Abstract

Water for domestic use, e.g. washing, is temp. controlled to maintin a temperature above a predetermined level. A heater(C) is connected to the water supply(10) and has athree-way valve(V) in the outlet to direct hot water to a central heating(12) or to a hot water cylinder(B). A heat exchanger(2) heats the cold water supply(3) and a mixer(M) delivers water to a temp. regulator(R). The regulator(R) includes a thermostatic valve(T) which operates in parallel with a flow limiting valve(D) to provide water flow to taps(20) such that the temp. does not fall below the temp. of the water from the mixer.
