Abstract
Two selections are made at each feeding station of a circular machine by providing a double vertical bank of presser members 141, 14II which are actuated by one and the same pattern drum, the first bank of presser members when actuated deflecting the corresponding jacks inwardly so that they and their needles remain at a low level A whilst those jacks not engaged by pressers 14I are elevated by a raising cam 9 to a tuck height B. At this level the second bank of pressers 14II makes a selection and the pressers 14II actuated by the pattern drum deflect the corresponding jacks inwardly so that they and their corresponding needles remain at tuck height 'whilst the remaining jacks and their needles are elevated to a yarn clearing and knitting height. Consequently a double selection is made at each feeding station one at miss height and one at tuck height by the actuation of a double bank of pressers from a single pattern drum. For this purpose the pattern drum is advanced twice the distance between the vertical rows of the pegs in the drum so as to correspond to the distance between the banks of pressers.
