Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a timepiece comprising a striking mechanism. It relates to clocks, chronometers and other watch movements. It relates more particularly to portable watch movements, that is to say that can be put in the pocket or attached to the wrist.
  • timepieces that emit a sound signal after a predetermined and adjustable time.
  • These timepieces conventionally include a watch movement ensuring in particular the measurement of time and a ringing device whose triggering is controlled by the movement.
  • Timepieces of the aforementioned type are designed for example to measure a parking time limit of a vehicle, and remind the user by means of a bell or a stamp that the parking period has expired .
  • the timepiece according to the invention is intended inter alia, but not exclusively, for such an application.
  • a first category of timepieces relates to clocks, alarm clocks and other wristwatches which are provided with a bell operated by the same spring barrel as that which provides the mechanical energy supply of the timepiece device. These mechanisms therefore comprise a single spring which ensures in a first period the operation of the watch movement, and which provides in a second period the energy necessary for the operation of the warning signal.
  • Such mechanisms are essentially characterized by the fact that between the moment of arming and setting the time and the moment of the alarm bell, the barrel drum actuates the clockwork movement, while that at the moment of the trigger, a hammer is released which hits a stamp of any appropriate type, said hammer then being actuated by the same barrel drum, but the spring of the clockwork acting, thanks to a special mechanism, by a relaxing movement in the opposite direction.
  • the winding crown which, primitively, is intended for reassembly of the only movement which ensures the measurement of time, is also used for the arming of the ring.
  • Such an arrangement again greatly complicates the construction of the watch and, through the use of special parts not available on the market it implies, inevitably leads to a significant increase in manufacturing costs.
  • the patent document DE 41,474 describes a timepiece comprising a winding bar moving rectilinearly but omits to specify the guide means of the winding bar.
  • the present invention therefore aims to overcome the aforementioned drawbacks, as well as others, by proposing a timepiece comprising a striking device whose interest lies in particular in the safety of the operation of such a mechanism , thanks to the use of movements likely to be mass produced and, consequently, a lower cost, given the simplicity of the changes to be made to the basic movement.
  • the present invention relates to a timepiece according to claim 1 attached.
  • the present invention provides a timepiece equipped with an acoustic alarm mechanism based on a classic clockwork movement, capable of issuing a warning signal after a predetermined period of time .
  • the pusher used in the context of the invention is also a conventional pusher, manufactured in large series and therefore inexpensive, the installation of which does not require modification of the watch movement and does not alter the seal, for example a box in which said watch movement is installed.
  • the construction of the timepiece according to the invention is greatly simplified and therefore less expensive.
  • Another advantage can be seen in the fact that due to the independence between the warning mechanism and the watch movement, the adjustment and the operation of said warning mechanism can not disturb or prejudice the other functions of said movement of watchmaking.
  • the entire force of the mainspring serves only to actuate the striking device, while the spring which ensures the operation of the watch movement is entirely devoted to this task. Therefore, the power reserve of the watch is not exhausted by the operation of the warning mechanism.
  • the mainspring for actuating the striking device is armed by means of a winding bar. terminated at its end by a toothed sector and kinematically connected to the winding pusher on the one hand, and the other to the mainspring of the striking device.
  • the present invention proceeds from the general inventive idea that is to use for the winding of a motor spring whose force serves only to actuate a warning mechanism a single push-button.
  • This pusher is of the type currently available commercially, and can be mounted very easily in a sealed manner, for example on a watch case equipped with said warning mechanism.
  • the invention thus makes it possible to meet the market demand for a waterproof push-button, which does not detract from the aesthetics of the watch and is easy to install.
  • the present invention will be described with reference to a timepiece of the wristwatch type. It is understood, however, that the present invention is not limited to such an application and that it may be advantageously used in the context of any other application requiring a countdown of time and marking the end of the countdown by the emission of a sound signal.
  • a timepiece of the wristwatch type comprising a striking device according to the present invention is shown in plan view at the figure 1 and designated generally by the general reference numeral 1.
  • This timepiece 1 comprises timepiece hands, namely a hand of the hours 2, a minute hand 4 and a small seconds hand 6.
  • a calendar to Grand Window 8 completes the timepiece mechanism.
  • the timepiece 1 taken here as an example still has a chronograph function with a seconds hand 10 and a minute counter 12.
  • the starting and then stopping of the hand 10 and the counter 12 are carried out by means of a first pusher 14, while a second pusher 16 allows the reset of said indicators 10 and 12.
  • a ring 18 allows, according to the axial positions to which it is brought, to remount the timepiece, to set the calendar to the day and set the needles 2, 4 and 6 of the timepiece mechanism on time.
  • the minute counter 12 is also used as a timer or a countdown counter, the setting of the period to be counted down is corrected by means of the ring 18.
  • the start of the countdown timer and the arming of a barrel member 20 and actuating a striking device 22 audibly indicating to the wearer of the watch 1 the end of the countdown is performed simultaneously by pressing a third push-button 24.
  • the counter-timer 12 comprises a dial 25 having three concentric scales of ten minutes each and each traversed by a needle of different lengths 26, 28 and 30, only one of which is visible on the figure 1 .
  • the timepiece comprises a striking device 22 actuated by the cylinder 20 mentioned above.
  • the barrel 20 is actuated by a toothed sector 32 formed on a bar 34 leading to the control and winding pusher 24.
  • the barrel assembly 20 which will be described in detail below carries at least one lug 36 (in the examples shown in the figures, these lugs are preferably three in number) which actuates a hammer of ringing 38 which comes knocking on a stamp 40 of any appropriate type.
  • This set causes the ringing device 22 which here comprises three mobiles including a mobile terminal 42.
  • the ringing device 22 can be armed independently of the movement of the clockwork (not shown) by pressing the pushbutton 24 which causes the arming of a motor spring 44 whose entire force serves only to actuate the striking device 22.
  • the motor spring 44 is armed by means of the arming bar 32 terminated at its free end by a toothed sector 32, preferably a rack.
  • the winding bar 34 is kinematically connected to the winding pusher 24 on the one hand, and the other to the motor spring 44 of the striking device 22.
  • the ringing device 22 it is possible to arrange the ringing device 22 at any point in the box 46 of the timepiece 1, for example to take account of the requirements related to the bulk of the movement of the watchdog. watchmaking or for aesthetic reasons.
  • the armature push-button 24 is of the type commonly used in the field of the watchmaking industry. It is therefore available in mass production and at a more advantageous price. On the other hand, its mounting on the watch box 46 is remarkably easy and does not affect the watertightness of said watch 1.
  • the motor spring 44 is wound inside the barrel 20, hooked by its outer turn 48 to said barrel 20, and to a barrel shaft 50 by its inner coil 52.
  • the barrel 20 is rotated freely around its shaft 50 when mounted on a platen of the movement, so as to print to the motor spring 44 a suitable initial tension, then is permanently immobilized on the plate after mounting by means of a retaining member 54 such as, for example, a pawl.
  • the spring is therefore pretended during the assembly of the striking device 22, so that the stroke of the pusher 24 which is typically of the order of a millimeter is sufficient to arm said spring 44.
  • a rack pinion 56 is provided.
  • This pinion 56 forms the drive member of the striking device 22.
  • the winding bar 34 extends in a direction parallel to the movement of the pusher 24 and is preferably aligned in the longitudinal direction of the latter.
  • the bar 34 is associated with translation guide means. These guide means comprise, in the illustrated example, two pins 58 which penetrate into respective oblong holes 60 made in said bar 34.
  • the pinion 56 rotates, transmitting its rotational movement to the shaft barrel 50.
  • the motor spring 44 is fixedly mounted by its two ends 48 and 52 respectively to the barrel 20 and the barrel shaft 50, it is stretched and stores energy that will later restore the striking device 22 when it will take place.
  • a triggering mechanism 62 which will be described in more detail later is arranged between the striking device 22 and the clockwork movement to enable said ringing device 22 to be operated before the end of the countdown. .
  • the mainspring 44 can not unwind after the mobile terminal 42 of the ring 22 has been released by the aforementioned trigger mechanism 62.
  • a driving wheel 64 is mechanically coupled to the barrel shaft 50.
  • this wheel 64 actuates the striking hammer 38 which then hits the stamp 40, which causes the emission of one or several successive sound signals.
  • the driving wheel 64 has a multiplicity of lugs 36 (three in the figures) which, when the mainspring 44 unwinds, cooperate with a tilting mechanism 66 causing the hammer 38 to back against the return force of a spring 68 and, consequently, the sudden displacement of said hammer 38 forward against the stamp 40.
  • the tilting mechanism 66 mentioned above comprises a pawl 70 pivotally mounted on the lever 72 of the hammer 38.
  • This pawl 70 has the particularity of being able to slide on the lug (s) 36 of the driving wheel 64 when the latter is rotating in the clockwise during the winding of the mainspring 44.
  • the driving spring 64 when the driving spring 64 is armed, the pawl 70 has no action on the hammer 38, that is to say that it does not cause the latter to fail.
  • the mainspring 44 disarms, the driving wheel 64 rotates counterclockwise and causes the pawl 70 to pivot by its lugs 36. Said pawl 70 then abuts a pin 74 secured to it.
  • the pawl 70 must include two teeth 76 and 78-spaced-angularly and rigidly connected to one another.
  • the first tooth 76 cooperates with the lugs 36 of the driving wheel 64, while the second tooth 78 presses on the pin 74 when disarming the motor spring 44 and communicates to the hammer ring 38 its tilting movement.
  • the lugs 36 are three in number, evenly spaced on the outer perimeter of the drive wheel 64. This means that the hammer 38 will strike the stamp 40 three times and thus produce three strokes. successive ringing at successive intervals of time regularly spaced.
  • the lugs 36 may not be regularly spaced, two of these lugs 36 may for example be close to one another, while the third would be at a greater distance from the first two. In this case, the wearer of the watch 1 hear two shots almost simultaneous bell and a third bell farther away.
  • the pawl 70 is held in elastic contact with the driving wheel 64 by means of a holding spring 80 fixedly mounted on the clockwork movement of the watch 1.
  • the return of the hammer 38 in its rest position is provided by a spring 82.
  • the spring 82 is fixedly mounted in at least one point on the clockwork movement. More specifically, the spring 82 is fixed on the watch movement by a first screw 84 and has a notch 86 in which a second screw 88, also integral with the movement, protrudes. The notch 86 is intended to make up any play and to compensate, if necessary, for a misalignment of the spring 82.
  • a pin 90 is fixedly mounted on the lever 72 of the striking hammer 38.
  • said hammer 38 is projected forward against the stamp 40 under the effect of the relaxation of the spring 68, the arm 92 of the spring 82 is elastically deformed against its restoring force by the pin 90 which pivots at the same time as the hammer 38, so that said spring 82 then recalls the hammer 38 during the time of pause between the passage of two lugs 36 successive height of the pawl 70 in a rest position in which said hammer 38 is at a distance from the stamp 40.
  • the timepiece according to the invention also comprises a braking mechanism 94 for slowing the rotational speed of the driving wheel 64 when the mainspring 44 is routed.
  • This braking mechanism 94 comprises in the first place a wolf wheel 96 fixed on a square 98 of the barrel shaft 50 and which cooperates by its external toothing with a pawl 100.
  • the spout 102 of the pawl 100 is pushed back by the teeth of the wheel 96 during the winding of the motor spring 44, that is to say when said wheel 96 rotates in the opposite direction of clockwise.
  • the mainspring 44 expands, the spout 102 of the pawl 100 snaps into the teeth of the wolf wheel 96 and rotates a wheel 104 on which it is pivotally mounted.
  • the pawl 100 in engagement with the teeth of the wheel 96, drives the wheel 104 in rotation.
  • This wheel 104 is the first wheel of a control chain 106 by centrifugal force of the unwinding speed of the mainspring 44.
  • the pawl 100 is held in elastic contact with the wolf wheel 96 by means of a friction spring 108.
  • a triggering mechanism 62 is disposed between the striking device 22 and the clockwork movement to enable said ringing device 22 to be operated before the end of the countdown.
  • the mainspring 44 can not take place until the mobile terminal of the ring 22 has been released by the aforementioned trigger mechanism 62.
  • the trigger mechanism 62 comprises a retaining member 110, advantageously a stone, which is housed in one of the notches 112 formed on the mobile terminal 42 of the control chain 106 and immobilize it , so that the blocking of the ringing device 22 is possible until a defined moment of triggering.
  • the stone 110 is fixedly mounted in a bolt 114 whose retaining force is adjustable by means of an adjustable spring 116.
  • the operation of the trigger mechanism is as follows.
  • the period of time to count down by the countdown timer before the operation of the ring is set by the wearer of the watch 1 using the ring 18 visible on the figure 1 .
  • the armature of the motor spring 44 is carried out by pressing on the push button 24. All the time the countdown timer counts down the time remaining before having to sound the bell to indicate that the countdown has come to an end, or when the watch movement ensures another function such as the measurement of the current time or a timing function, the stone 110 is forced against the mobile terminal 42 of the control chain 106 by the spring 116 (see figures 2 and 3 ).
  • an unlocking finger linked to the watch movement via said timer operates a control spring 118 that has the bolt 114 of to rotate it in the direction of the arrow F (see figure 4 ), so that the stone 110 emerges from the notch 112 in which it was housed and releases the mobile terminal 42 of the control chain 106, thus allowing the motor spring 44 to unfold so that the striking device 32 can peal.
  • winding bar 34 is free to move rectilinearly between a rest position in which the control and winding pusher 24 has not yet been actuated, and an end position in which the pusher 24 is depressed and which corresponds to the armed state of the mainspring 44.
  • the reinforcement bar 34 will then gradually return from its end position to its rest position as and when, aided by a spring 120.
