Abstract

The present invention relates to a mask for protecting a convex and/or window portion of a vehicle, the mask being made of a sheet material, and having an outline that is curvilinear, at least in part. A device for masking convex and/or window portions of motor vehicles is also provided having a plurality of masks that are united to form a packet of masks.

Description

The present invention relates to a method and a device for masking a part of a motor vehicle, in order to protect this part of soiling that may result from the painting of another part of this vehicle.

The technical field of the invention is that of automotive body repair.

It is known to protect the glass parts of a motor vehicle before painting at least part of the body, with masks covering these glass parts.

For this masking operation, also called masking, usually used paper packaged in a roll; for each organ to be protected, the operator manually cuts and / or tears a sheet of paper; the width of this sheet is that of the chosen paper roll, and the length of the sheet is approximately determined by the operator according to the dimensions of the organ to be protected; this sheet thus has two first parallel straight edges, and two second edges whose shape and orientation result from the cutting technique used; in no case does the shape of the leaf thus formed correspond to that of the organ to be protected; the operator can then tear and / or crease the sheet so as to roughly adapt its contour to that of the organ to be protected; these operations are long and delicate, and never results in a form sheet perfectly adapted to that of the part to be protected.

In the technical field of building, it has been disclosed in US-A-3,752,304 the idea of using triangular masks to cover, with overlap of two adjacent masks, the rectangular glass surface of a window; two identical masks are grouped together to form a rectangle; the masks form a roll with transverse perforations for repair manual rectangular sheets; this document gives no indication of the usable sheet material.

In the field of automotive construction, it is known to use masks of a shape adapted to that of a part of a vehicle to protect this part during a painting operation of another part of the vehicle.

No. 2,371,859 discloses a flexible masking device which consists of a rubber band and a flexible fabric cover which is spread over the body part to be protected, being fixed and suspended to the rubber band; this band is flexible enough to be applied to surfaces with irregular corners and contours; it comprises a series of cavities forming suction cups for securing the band to the body by suction, so that no adhesive is necessary. Although this device has advantages, it is not adapted to allow cheaply, to quickly and accurately hide a glazed portion of a motor vehicle.

On comprend qu'un tel système permet d'obtenir un masque présentant une forme très approximativement adaptée à la forme d'une partie de véhicule à protéger ; une telle structure ne s'adapte en fait parfaitement qu'à une partie de véhicule dont la forme épouse celle d'un masque élémentaire ou de plusieurs masques élémentaires juxtaposés ; une telle structure ne permet donc pas d'épouser précisément le contour d'une partie vitrée d'un véhicule.EP 334 360 discloses laminating structures for masking a portion of the underside of a vehicle comprising a layer of plastic foam, an adhesive layer coating one side of the foam layer, and a sheet of peel-off protection covering the adhesive layer; discontinuous cutting lines formed by grooves or perforations are provided to allow to manually cut a portion of this structure to form a mask consisting of one or more elementary mask (s) delimited (s) by these lines. It is understood that such a system makes it possible to obtain a mask having a shape that is very much adapted to the shape of a part of the vehicle to be protected; such a structure does in fact fit perfectly to a vehicle part whose shape matches that of an elementary mask or several juxtaposed elementary masks; such a structure does not allow to marry precisely the outline of a glazed portion of a vehicle.

The invention aims to provide masking masks, their manufacturing process and their use, which are improved and which remedy, at least in part, the disadvantages of the known methods and devices of marouflage.

The present invention aims to provide masks for protecting glazed parts of motor vehicles, in particular vehicles for transport, road, overhead or rail that are suitable for the protection, unit and demand, of any glazed part of any vehicle.

According to a first aspect, the invention defined by the features of claim 1 is to provide a protective mask of a glazed portion and / or a convex portion of a vehicle, which is made of a sheet material, and whose contour is curvilinear, at least in part and generally entirely, in particular in the form of a curvilinear polygon, so that the contour of the mask may correspond precisely, after deformation of the mask by pressing against said vehicle part, to the contour of this part.

In order to facilitate this deformation during which the mask changes from a substantially planar configuration to a generally complex three-dimensional configuration (left), said sheet material constituting the mask is thin and light; the thickness (reference 119 figure 14) of this material is less than 200 microns, in particular in a range of 20 to 80 microns; the weight per unit area of this material is less than 200 g / m 2 , in particular ranging from 20 to 80 g / m 2 , more preferably from 30 to 60 g / m 2 , in particular around 40 to 45 g / m 2 , g / m 2 .

Preferably, said material is monolayer and devoid of adhesive.

In order to prevent the mask from deforming or deteriorating when in contact with aqueous or oily substances, use is made of a material having on both sides a high resistance to penetration of these substances; for this purpose, according to a preferred embodiment, one chooses a paper imitation greaseproof (greaseproof) on both sides, or a kraft paper coated on both sides polyethylene.

Alternatively, the mask may be made of a plastics material resistant to solvents used for painting the vehicle, for example by thermoforming.

In order to facilitate the manipulation of a mask by the operator, and also to facilitate the packaging, transportation and storage of a plurality of masks, the mask is extended (bordered) along one of its curvilinear sides. , by a strip (or selvedge) of said sheet material whose contour preferably has a straight portion.

This band makes it possible to manipulate the mask of which it is integral, without contact with the mask and thus without risk of deteriorating it.

Furthermore, such a band facilitates the mutual joining of several masks, by joining the strips respectively associated with each of the masks; for this purpose, one can stack several masks - and their associated strips - so that the bands overlap in all or part, then secure the strips together, by stapling or gluing; in addition or alternatively, the strips can be pierced with one or more orifices separated by a predetermined distance, and whose diameter allows the passage of a rod forming part of a mask holder; a plurality of masks can thus be stored suspended from such a support via their respective band.

Alternatively, the masks can be stored flat in a cabinet having a plurality of compartments that are superimposed on each other.

In this case in particular, the rectilinear portion of the contour of the strip promotes a compact and orderly storage of several stacked masks, this portion serving as a stop when the masks are introduced into a compartment of the piece of furniture; in the same way, this rectilinear portion makes it easy to produce an orderly and harmonious stack of several masks of different shapes; this facilitates the packaging in a flexible bag (plastic for example) of several masks.

According to the invention, the curved line separating a mask from its associated band is weakened by the presence of perforations or cuts so that the separation of a mask with respect to the band extending it is facilitated.

In order to avoid damaging a mask during its transport, storage or handling, it can be folded in half along a substantially median fold line, or it can be folded into an accordion according to several parallel fold lines between them. and substantially orthogonal to the larger dimension of a mask; this also facilitates the packaging and storage of masks of large dimensions, such as in particular the protective masks of a windshield or a rear window of a vehicle.

The invention notably results in a package comprising a plurality of single-use masks, which are preferably each extended by at least one extension portion - such as a strip - of the sheet material constituting the mask, and comprising means for meeting to gather together said masks, said plurality of masks for concealing a plurality of separate glazed portions of a vehicle or a plurality of identical vehicles.

Thus, to be able to protect the glass parts of a given range of vehicle models, it is appropriate to use as many different packages as there are different models in said range.

Said meeting means may comprise staples or glue solidarisant said masks by their said extension portions, and / or a flexible bag enveloping said masks and their associated extension portions; alternatively, the masks may be joined by their associated extension portions (or bands) to form a continuous band having a plurality of masks, which band is rolled to form a roll or zig-zag folded to form a stack.

The invention has the particular advantage of allowing, in a body repair shop, to have with a small footprint, a large amount of masks of different shapes to hide quickly and accurately, one or more curved glass parts d any model of vehicle, individually and on demand.

The present invention provides, in another aspect, a paper web, which is preferably wound on a tubular mandrel to form a roll, in which a plurality of identically shaped masks adapted to the a glass part of a determined vehicle, and which comprises a plurality of weakened weakening first connection portions extending between (and / or separating) two adjacent masks of said strip, making it easier to separate the masks and to avoid untimely rips in the tape.

Alternativement, la bande de papier peut être pliée en zig-zag à la manière de papier « listing » (listage).Alternatively, the paper strip can be folded into a zig-zag in the manner of a "listing" paper.

For the purposes of the present application, the term "paper" designates, in addition to paper, non-metallic sheet materials, in particular plastics and laminated materials.

In order to increase the mechanical strength of the paper web, it may comprise at least one detachable lateral edge which extends continuously along one of its edges, and which is separated from said masks by a second weakened portion (of least resistance) so as to facilitate its separation of said masks.

According to a preferred embodiment, the paper web has two continuous detachable lateral edges which extend respectively along each of its longitudinal edges.

According to a preferred alternative embodiment, one or the other or both detachable lateral edges are discontinuous; in this case, the contour of each of the masks comprises a portion flush along at least one edge of the paper web, ie extends tangentially thereto, which contributes to reducing the falls unnecessary paper.

In order to limit these paper falls, said first weakened connection portions between two masks have a very small width compared to the mask dimensions: the ratio of this width to the average dimension of a mask is preferably less than or equal to 10 - 1 ; this ratio can be up to 10 -2 , 10 -3 or 10 -4 , and can even in some applications be zero, when the contours of two adjacent masks are arranged tangentially to one another.

Figure imgb0001
, où S est la surface du masque.Preferably, the ratio of the width of each of said lateral edges to said average mask dimension is in the same range of values as those indicated above for said connecting portions; by mean dimension of a mask, we mean its equivalent diameter (D) which is calculated by the formula D = ( 4 S / π )
Figure imgb0001
, where S is the surface of the mask.

In order to limit the falls and / or to limit the width of said first weakened connecting portions, said masks can be arranged head to tail in pairs.

In a preferred embodiment, the paper web has a single plurality of identical masks; according to a preferred variant, the band may comprise at least two pluralities of masks: a first plurality of identical first masks (for example of a shape adapted to that of a front side window of a given vehicle), and a second plurality of second identical masks (for example of a shape adapted to that of a rear side window of said vehicle), which are of a shape different from that of said first masks.

In this case, said first masks are alternately arranged with said second masks, along the paper web.

,The weakening of the connecting portions and / or selvedges can be achieved by perforation or discontinuous cutting of the paper web, along a weakening line which can extend along at least a portion contour of the masks, and which may be rectilinear or curvilinear, transverse, longitudinal, or oblique. ,

In order to limit the number of paper strips necessary to hide all the glass parts of a given vehicle, masks of different shapes can be embedded on a strip of paper 2, 3, 4 (or more).

For the same purpose, it is also possible to use a paper having absorbent properties of liquid or pasty products that are substantially identical for its two faces, so that a mask such as that of a front left window can indifferently be used to mask this window. or to hide the "symmetrical" glass, that is to say the right front window of the same vehicle.

It is also possible to include one or more masks of small dimensions, such as headlight masks, inside a large mask, such as the mask of the windshield (of the same vehicle).

The two masks can then be separated along a weakened zone extending along the contour of the small mask; after separation of these two masks, the recess created inside the large mask can be used to secure the mask to the glass part with an adhesive tape extending partially into the recess; this recess can (as needed) be easily concealed by another sheet of roughly cut paper.

In order to facilitate the separation of the pre-cut masks in the paper web and to optimize the number of masks per roll, it is preferable to use a paper whose grammage is less than or equal to 200 g / m 2 , in particular less than or equal to 100 g / m 2 , for example of the order of 20 to 60 g / m 2 .

In order to facilitate the handling of the rollers, it will be preferable to use a paper strip of width less than or equal to 1 m, of length less than or equal to 200 m, and of mass less than or equal to 20 kg; for this purpose also, it will limit the diameter of the rolls to 15 or 20 cm at most.

According to another aspect, the invention consists in proposing a device for storing and dispensing pre-cut masks for the shapes of glazed parts of several motor vehicles; the device comprises a plurality of parallel bars which are (each) adapted to receive one, or preferably several, paper (s); each roll has at least a plurality of pre-cut masks forming a band; the strip may be unwound of the length necessary to extract a mask, by rotation of the roller and / or the bar supporting the roller; this rotation may result from a manual pulling force exerted on the free end of the paper web.

According to a preferred embodiment, the device comprises a plurality of roll support bars (or shafts), which are superimposed and are supported by a frame common to said bars; the spacing pitch of the bars is preferably less than or equal to 30 cm.

The invention provides a compact device, simple to manufacture and use; in order to further improve its compactness, it may comprise two series of superposed bars which extend in two substantially vertical planes.

Preferably, the bars are of identical length, and their length allows them to receive several rolls side by side; it is thus possible to group together on one bar (or on two adjacent bars) the rollers -comportant all the masks of a given vehicle model, in order to facilitate the identification of the rollers on the storage and distribution rack.

With reference to FIGS. 1 to 5 and 8 in particular, the paper strip 1 in which the masking masks are pre-cut is wound on a tubular mandrel of axis 2 to form a roll 3.

The unwound portion of the strip 1 extends along an axis 4; the lateral edges 5 and 6 of the strip are parallel to the axis 4; the width 7 of the band 1, FIG. 1, is adapted to the width 8 of the identical masks 9 which are pre-cut in this band; each mask 9 can be modeled on the shape of a windshield of a given motor vehicle, and the masks 10, 11, 12, 13 and 14 precut in the bands of Figures 2 to 5 can respectively correspond to the shape of front windows (masks 10a, 10b), rear windows (masks 11a, 11b, 12a, 12b, 12c, 12d), the mirror (13a, 13b) and headlamps (14) of said determined vehicle.

Thus, for a type or model vehicle can be provided from four to eight rollers, particularly rollers six March 1 to March 6 of Figure 6; the six blades 31 to 31 12 contain the shape masks adapted to the glazed parts of a second type or model of vehicle; the different rollers adapted to a given vehicle are grouped side by side on one or more adjacent bars 15 of the mask dispensing device 16.

The dispenser 16 illustrated in FIG. 7 comprises eight first parallel bars 1 of horizontal axis, and superposed, which extend on the front face of the dispenser and comprises eight second superposed horizontal bars 2 which extend on the rear face of the dispenser; the bars 15, 15 1 , 15 2 are fixed to a frame 160 and regularly spaced apart along a vertical axis.

The frame rests on the ground by feet 17 and receives side panels 18, 19 and upper 20 which house the rollers and receive signs indicating, for each bar and / or each roller, the vehicle and the corresponding glazed part.

The masks 9, 10, 11 and 13 are in the form of curvilinear quadrilaterals whereas the masks 12a to 12d, which are of identical shape corresponding to that of a Custode glass (rear part of a rear window) of a vehicle , are in the form of a curvilinear triangle, and the headlight masks 14 are tab-shaped.

The outline of the mask 9 is defined by four rectilinear sections 21 to 24 parallel in pairs and connected by four curvilinear sections in the form of a circular arc; perforations and / or cut segments are arranged discontinuously along these sections and form a weakened contour around the mask 9, facilitating its separation from the portions of the paper web that surround the mask ; these portions consist of two lateral edges 25 and 26 of small width 53, and two portions 27 and 28 of connection, of equally small width.

The selvedges 25, 26 extend between the edge 5 of the strip 1 and the rectilinear section 21 on the one hand, and between the edge 6 of the strip 1 and the rectilinear section 23 on the other hand.

Each portion 27, 28 of connection extends between two masks 9 consecutively provided on the strip 1, and comprises a weakened section 29 perforated and / or cut discontinuously, which extends from one edge 5 to the other 6 of the band 1, along a line perpendicular to these edges.

De façon similaire, les bandes illustrées figures 2 à 5 comportent des portions transversales de liaison entre deux masques adjacents qui sont affaiblies par la présence de lignes 30 à 33 perforées et/ou prédécoupées qui s'étendent perpendiculairement aux bords 5, 6.Similarly, the strips illustrated in FIGS. 2 to 5 comprise transverse connection portions between two adjacent masks which are weakened by the presence of perforated and / or pre-cut lines 30 to 33 which extend perpendicularly to the edges 5, 6.

In addition, the band illustrated in Figure 2 comprises an oblique connecting portion between two masks 10a, 10b which extends along (and includes) an oblique line (with respect to the edges 5, 6) perforated 34; similarly, an oblique connecting strip including an oblique precut line separates two adjacent masks 14 arranged upside down (Figure 5).

In the embodiment illustrated in FIGS. 3 and 8, the strip 1 comprises a plurality of masks 11a, 11b of identical shape, which are alternately arranged with a plurality of masks 12a, 12b, 12c and 12d of identical shape, arranged symmetrically with respect to each other. at the axis 4, and which are interleaved by two between two masks 11a, 11b, the shape of the masks 12a to 12d being different from that of the masks 11a, 11b.

In this embodiment, the strip has weakened cross-linking portions 36 by the perforated lines 31, as well as longitudinal connection portions 37 weakened by longitudinal perforated lines 38 parallel to the axis 4.

In the embodiment illustrated in FIG. 9, the strip 1 of paper consists solely of a plurality of masks 50 of rounded rectangular shape; two adjacent masks are secured by a rectilinear straight portion 51 contour; thus the band is devoid of lateral edges, these being separated from the band during its manufacture; in this exemplary embodiment, the width of the transverse connection portions 51 between two adjacent masks is zero. The band 1 is folded along the pre-cut lines 51 which extend perpendicularly to the edges 5, 6, so as to form a stack 52 of masks 50.

Les bandes peuvent en particulier être constituées de papier dont le grammage est voisin de 40 à 45 g/m2.The strips may in particular be made of paper whose grammage is close to 40 to 45 g / m 2 .

With reference to FIG. 10, the mask 100 whose surface is hatched is delimited by a curvilinear contour 101 of substantially ovoid shape.

A plurality of cutouts 109 are formed in the sheet forming the mask 100 and the strip 104, which extend along the line 108 and cause a weakening of the sheet along this line to facilitate the separation of the strip 104 and the mask 100 according to this line 108.

The band 104 is pierced with two orifices 107 through which can extend two rods of a mask holder (not shown).

In addition to the curved line 108, three rectilinear segments 106a, 106b, 106c, delimit the band 104 and facilitate the abutment of the masking device 110 against a wall (not shown), by supporting the edge of the sheet extending the along these sections, and thus facilitate the manipulation, packaging, storage and visual discrimination of several stacked devices.

With reference to FIG. 11, the mask 120, the surface of which is hatched, is delimited by a curvilinear contour 130 in the form of a bean.

The entire contour forms a demarcation line separating the mask 120 from an extension frame 105 which extends between the contour 130 (inner) and a rectangular outer contour formed by four straight segments 106a, 106b, 106c, 106d.

The outline 130 serving as demarcation line is provided with perforations 109 regularly spaced.

The masking device 110 is in the form of a continuous strip 2000 of paper extending along an axis 135, a portion of which is illustrated in FIG. 11, which comprises a plurality of identical masks 120 which are regularly spaced on along this axis, and as many frames 105 extending the masks.

Each mask may be folded along a median axis 136 when the strip 2000 is folded in accordion along the axes 136 and 137; the rectilinear portions 106a and 106c of the outline of the frame 105, which extend along the axes 137 orthogonal to the axis 135 and which separate two adjacent frames, are preferably weakened by perforations or cuts such as those marked 109.

Referring to Figure 12, the package 110 consists of three masks 121, 122 and 123 stacked whose respective contours 131, 132 and 133 are partly curvilinear.

Each of these masks is respectively extended by a band 104 whose edge 106 is rectilinear and which has two orifices 107; to facilitate transportation and packaging, the strips 104 are joined by staples 111, and their respective rectilinear portions 106 of outline are superimposed (vertically aligned).

If necessary after extraction of the staples 111, the masks and their associated strips can be stored flat in an automobile repair shop, in the superposed parallelepiped compartments 141, 142, 143 of a cabinet 144 for storing masks (FIG. 13). , the rectilinear portions 106 of contour strips being in abutment against a vertical side wall 145 to 147 respectively of each compartment whose shape and dimensions are respectively adapted to each of the masks 121 to 123.

Preferably, for the manufacture of masks according to the invention, a stack of a plurality of sheets of said material is formed and then cut simultaneously, preferably by the action of a jet of liquid (in particular water) or a laser beam, said plurality of sheets stacked so as to obtain a plurality of identical masks optionally extended by said strips or extension portions; alternatively, the cutting along the contour of the mask can be performed by oxycutting, punching or plasma.
