Definitions
- the present invention relates to a bidirectional transfer device of a liquid between a bottle provided with a periorable stopper and a cartridge comprising a cylindrical tank in which slides a perforable piston.
- the practitioner In order to carry out the mixing immediately, the practitioner first injects in the bottle all the liquid contained in the syringe. To this end, it pierces the stopper of the vial thanks to the needle provided on the syringe and intended for proceed with the injection itself.
- the mixture obtained is re-aspirated into the syringe through the injection needle. After withdrawal of the needle of the vial, the actual injection is performed on the patient.
- the object of the invention is to provide a solution to the problem of transfer bidirectional of a liquid between a vial and an injection syringe by providing a device which is easy to handle and guarantees satisfactory asepsis.
- the invention relates to a bidirectional transfer device a liquid between a bottle with a perforable cap and a cartridge comprising a cylindrical reservoir in which slides a perforable piston, characterized in that it comprises a body comprising hooking means of the bottle, a connecting member of the perforable piston to the body and a movable shuttle relative to the body and to said connecting member, the shuttle carrying a hollow needle, a first end of which is adapted for perforating the piston and the second end of which is suitable for perforating the plug. and in that the shuttle is movable between an initial position in which the ends of the needle are spaced from the perforable plunger and the stopper perforable and a final transfer position in which the ends of the needle are received in the cartridge and the vial.
- the invention also relates to an injection kit comprising a bidirectional transfer device as defined above, as well as a cartridge and a bottle, in which the carpule is initially linked to the joining member and the bottle is initially linked to the body.
- the transfer device 10 shown in Figure 1 is suitable for Bidirectional transfer of fluid between a cartridge 12 and a bottle 14.
- This device is generally of revolution around its longitudinal axis. It comprises essentially a body 16, a protective cap 18, a shuttle 20 carrying a hollow needle 22 and a screw pusher or connecting member 24 intended to ensure the axial connection of the movable piston of the cartridge 12 and the body 16.
- FIG. 1 the transfer device 10, equipped with the cartridge 12 and the bottle 14, is shown in the storage position before use.
- the cartridge 12 is intended to perform an injection after having been extracted transfer device and equipped with an injection needle and a pusher actuating. It comprises a cylindrical reservoir 26 having at the front a narrowed neck 28 closed by a perforable cover 30 supported by a head 31. The cover 30 is adapted to be punctured by an injection needle mounted on the head 31 of the carpule for injection.
- the rear end denoted 32 of the reservoir 26, which is opposite the head 31, is closed by a perforable piston 34 slidably mounted in a sealed manner the interior of the reservoir 26.
- the piston 34 has an axially recess 36 emerging outside the carpule. This recess is internally tapped, in order to subsequently assemble by screwing a push button actuation to perform the injection of the liquid contained in the cartridge.
- the piston 34 is made of a polymer material of shore hardness given.
- the cartridge 12 is initially filled with an injectable liquid 38.
- the bottle 14 comprises a glass body 40 having a closed neck 42 by a perforable cover 44.
- the neck 42 has a peripheral rim 46 defining a shoulder 48.
- the perforable cover 44 is made of a polymer material having substantially the same shore hardness as that in which the piston 34 is formed.
- the piston 34 and the cover 44 have the same resistance to the penetration of a point.
- the materials in which are made the cover 44 and the piston 34 are the same.
- their thicknesses measured along the X-X axis are substantially identical.
- the bottle 14 is filled with a lyophilisa 50 constituting a powdered drug substance. Lyophilisa 50 only partially fills vial. As known per se, the bottle is vacuum sealed, so that the pressure inside the bottle is much lower than atmospheric pressure.
- the body 16 is traversed axially right through by a conduit 60.
- the conduit 60 defines a housing 62 for receiving from the bottle.
- This housing has a counterbore 64 for receiving the rim 46 of the bottle 14 to ensure the attachment of the latter.
- the counterbore 64 is delimited by projections 66 defining hooking profiles of the bottle. They are adapted to cooperate with the shoulder 48 delimited by the neck from the bottle. Projections 66 have converging ramps from the end open the housing 62, to facilitate the introduction of the bottle into the body.
- the conduit 60 has a chamber cylindrical 70 in which are received the shuttle 20 and the connecting member 24.
- the chambers 62 and 70 are linked by an intermediate section 74 of diameter reduced.
- the chamber 70 has a sufficient diameter to allow the passage of the reservoir 26.
- the total length of the chamber 70 and of the section 74 is advantageously greater than that of the hollow needle 22.
- the section 74 is partially closed at its end opening in the chamber 62 by a diaphragm 75 defining an opening sufficient for the passage of the needle 22.
- This diaphragm 75 partially covers the membrane 44 of bottle 14.
- the body 16 presents externally a shoulder 76 reducing the thickness of the body. This is suitable for mounting protective cap 18.
- the protective cap 18 generally has the shape of a cap and defines a housing 78 adapted to receive the cartridge 16 and to be engaged from its open end partially around the body 16.
- the means 80 comprise a delimited fork 82 by two arms defining a notch 84 extending radially, the width of which corresponds to the diameter of the narrowed neck 28. Behind the fork 82, is provided in the protective cap 80, a chamber 86 for receiving the head 31.
- the connecting member 24 has a tubular shape. It has a wall lateral cylindrical 90 delimiting a duct 91. It is closed at one end upper by a threaded protrusion 92 projecting outward. This protuberance 92 is screwed inside the threaded recess 36 and thus ensures the axial connection of the connecting member 24 and the piston 34.
- the protuberance 92 is pierced axially with a conduit 94 whose diameter roughly corresponds to the outside diameter of the needle 22.
- the connecting member 24 has on the outer surface of its wall 90 two successive grooves 96A, 968 spaced apart axially. These are separated by a distance I 1 .
- the grooves 96A and 96B are adapted to cooperate with a peripheral bead 98 formed in the conduit 60 of the body. The bead is provided at the end of the intermediate section 74 opening into the chamber 70.
- the groove 96 and the peripheral bead 98 are adapted to ensure the attachment of the connecting member 24 and the body 16. Initially, the bead 98 is engaged in the lower groove 96A.
- the distance I 1 is chosen to be less than the length of the intermediate section 74 shortened by the thickness of the diaphragm 75.
- the wall 90 of the connecting member 24 has internally a bead peripheral 100, delimiting in the space circumscribed by the wall 90, a chamber 102 for confining the shuttle 20.
- the bead 100 forms a shuttle axial stop stop 20.
- the shuttle 20 consists of a cylindrical slide 110 traversed axially right through the hollow needle 22.
- a first end 112 of the needle protrudes beyond the slide 110 and is received initially in passage 94.
- the second end denoted 114 of needle 22 protrudes behind the slide 110 and is initially arranged opposite the cover 44 of the bottle.
- the two ends of the needles have similar bevels, of so that they have points having the same profiles opposite the piston 34 and cover 44.
- the diameter of the slide 110 is greater than the diameter of the passage defined by diaphragm 75.
- the cylindrical slide 110 has over part of its received length in the confinement chamber 102 of the longitudinal ribs 116 (FIG. 3) defining a shoulder 118 adapted to cooperate with the peripheral bead 100 forming a stop.
- the longitudinal ribs 116 provide guidance in translation of the shuttle 20 inside the connecting member 24.
- the length of the ribs 116 is less than the length of the confinement chamber 112 defined between the protuberance 92 and the bead 100. This difference in length is denoted I 2 .
- the connecting member 24 is released from the body 16, so that the attachment means consisting of the groove 96A and the bead 98 are engaged.
- the shuttle 20 is pressed on the peripheral bead 100 by means of the shoulder 118, so that the end 112 of the needle extends inside the protuberance 92. It is thus moved away from the perforable piston 34. The shuttle is then moved away from the distance I 2 from the protuberance 92.
- the end 114 of the hollow needle is kept apart from the cover 44 by pressing the lower end of the connecting member 24 on the peripheral bead 98 and pressing the shuttle 20 on the bead 100.
- the lower end of the slide 110 is then separated by a distance I 3 from the cover 44.
- the use of the transfer device 10 is carried out as follows.
- the protective cap 18 is first removed and returned. Ways hooking 80 are engaged around the head 31 of the cartridge, as shown in Figures 2 and 3.
- the protective cap 18 and the body 16 are then brought together one of the other in the direction of arrow F4, as shown in FIG. 4.
- the shuttle 20 moves relative to the body 16 until a transfer position in which the end 112 protrudes inside the carpule 12 after passing through the piston 34 and the end 114 protrudes at inside the bottle 14 after having passed through the cover 44.
- the movement of the protective cap 18 causes the insertion of the carpule 12 into the chamber 70 of the body.
- the connecting member 24 is moved towards the bottle 14 while being pushed by the carpule.
- the groove 96A emerges from the peripheral bead 98 and the lower end of the member 24 moves until the bead 98 is received in the peripheral groove 96B.
- the elastic engagement of the bead 98 in the groove 96B ensures the final axial attachment of the connecting member 24 and body 16.
- the shuttle 20 slidably mounted inside the connecting member 24 over a stroke of length I 2 , is also moved relative to the body 16 and to the member 24.
- the ends 112 and 114 of the needle bear respectively on the piston 34 and the cover 44. The latter then simultaneously perforate the piston 34 and the lid 44 when the cartridge 12 and the bottle 14 are brought together. The ends of the needle then enter the cartridge 12 and the bottle 14.
- the slider 110 comes resting, on the one hand, on the end protuberance 92 of the connecting member and, on the other hand, against the diaphragm 75 extending above the sealing cap 44 vial.
- the hollow needle 22 ensures communication between the bottle 14 and the cartridge 12.
- the filling of the bottle 14 is made possible since it is initially at a pressure below atmospheric pressure.
- lyophilisa 50 dissolves in the liquid 38 inside the bottle 14.
- the transfer device 10 is turned over as shown in Figure 7 then the protective cap 18 is spaced from the body 16 to suck the extemporaneous mixture in the carpule.
- the piston 34 is retained integral with the body 16 by through the connecting member 24 attached to the body by the cooperation of the groove 96B and the peripheral bead 98.
- the cartridge 12 is detached from the connecting member 24 by being unscrewed. This can then be used for injection after having been provided an injection needle and an actuator.
- the transfer device thus devoid of the cartridge is then discarded. he note that in this position the end 112 of the needle is protected due to the extension of the body 16, thus avoiding any risk of accidental puncture.
- the length of the body 16 is chosen to be sufficient to extend beyond the end 112 of the hollow needle.
- the device according to the invention allows a transfer of the liquid between the cartridge and the bottle without risk of contamination of the liquid. Indeed, the two ends of the hollow needle are constantly protected inside the space enclosure defined by the connecting member 24, the body 16 and the bottle 14.
- the simultaneous penetration of the two ends of the needles avoids any risk of ambient air entering the cartridge or the vial.
- the transfer device When the transfer device is pre-equipped with a bottle 14 and a carpule 12 before delivery, the transfer can be made without it being necessary the cartridge or the bottle comes into contact with the hand. So any risk of manual soiling is discarded.
- FIGS. 8 and 9 is shown an alternative embodiment of the device transfer according to the invention.
- analogous elements or identical to those of the embodiment of FIGS. 1 to 7 are designated by the same reference numbers.
- This figure shows a transfer device 200 associated with a cartridge 12 and a vial 14 containing a lyophilisa.
- the transfer device 200 comprises a body 16 in which is immobilized axially the bottle 14, a connecting member 24 sliding relative to to the body and a needle holder shuttle 20 freely sliding along the axis of the liaison body 24.
- the transfer device 200 further includes a cartridge holder 202 comprising means 203 for axially hooking the cap 18.
- the connecting member 24 comprises, in addition to the cylindrical wall 90, an outer sleeve 204 coaxial surrounding the cylindrical wall 90 and connected thereto by an annular wall 206.
- the sleeve 204 is sliding mounted inside the body 16. It has protruding and recesses 208 adapted to cooperate with complementary profiles carried by the side wall of the body 16, in order to ensure their axial connection after perforation of the cover 44 through the end 114 of the hollow needle.
- the sleeve 204 extends beyond the threaded protrusion 92 screwed in the piston 34 of the cartridge.
- the sleeve 204 has in its wall lateral two pairs of longitudinal slots 210, 212 angularly offset 90 °.
- the slots 210 are twice the length of the slots 212.
- Carpule support 202 includes an interior receiving tube 220 of the body 26 of the carpule. It is partially closed at its lower end by a shoulder 222 on which the open end of the tank is supported axially 26 of the carpule. The shoulder 222 is extended by a tubular section 224 sliding along the cylindrical wall 90 of the connecting member.
