Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a watch with whirlwind comprising a regulating member engaged with an exhaust, itself engaged with a pinion meshing with a fixed wheel, the regulating organ, the exhaust and the pinion being mounted on a plate integral with a tube pivoted in a plate, this tube being located in the center of the watch and rotated by a driving organ.
  • a tourbillon watch that meets the definition generic given above is described in the patent CH 33 368.
  • This document reports a watch movement whose regulating organ and exhaust are carried by a plate pivoted in the center of this movement.
  • the tray is attached to a central tube terminated by a pinion that a barrel spring drives through a mobile consisting of a wheel and a pinion, so that the tray is animated, with the tube which serves as its axis of pivoting, of a continuous movement of rotation.
  • the tube is engaged on a shaft which carries the needle minutes, this tree being finished by a pinion meshing with a friction fitted wheel on a barrel cover.
  • a roadway is driven out the tree and follows the tube.
  • the roadway leads to cannon wheel which carries the hour hand by through a timer.
  • the timer is covered by a dial. It emerges from what has just been explained that the tray is not fully visible to through the ice since it is surmounted by a timer itself hidden by a dial.
  • the exhaust pinion is located above the plate, so that the wheel fixes with which it is engaged is also located above the tray.
  • This fixed wheel is integral with a bridge carried by four narrow arms, this bridge being placed on the plateau.
  • the tray is partially hidden from view, not only by the timer and the dial, but also by the central bridge and by the arms connecting it to the movement plate.
  • the vortex mechanism described in the aforementioned patent reveals very few elements the component, in fact only the pendulum which turns on itself and around the dial.
  • the present invention provides a turntable entirely visible from its center to its periphery, thus revealing the entire whirlpool mechanism.
  • this invention is remarkable in that that the fixed wheel and the pinion meshing with it are located below the tray. This allows to rid the space above the shelf of any fixed element and of any support intended to carry such an element.
  • the tube carrying the tray surrounds a carriageway carrying a minute hand, this roadway surrounding itself a tree with an hour hand, the tree and the floor being connected to each other by a timer located below the tray.
  • a hand or a minute index is mounted on the plate, while the tube surrounds a tree bearing an hour hand, the shaft and the tube being linked to each other by a timer located below of the plateau.
  • the tourbillon watch is presented here under two exemplary embodiments.
  • the first one shape is shown in section in Figure 1. This is the shape favorite.
  • the second shape is shown in cross section at the figure 7.
  • a perspective view that can house both embodiments is shown in Figure 8.
  • the movement of the watch comprises a regulating member 2 engaged with an exhaust 3, the latter being engaged with a gear train 4 meshing with a fixed wheel 5.
  • the regulating member 2, the exhaust 3 and the train 4 are mounted on a plate 6 secured to a tube 7 pivoted in a plate 8.
  • the tube 7 is located in the center of the watch and animated by a movement continuous rotation driven by a drive member 9.
  • FIGS 1 and 7 show first that the fixed wheel 5 is located below the plate 6. They then show that the tube 7 is engaged rotatably on a roadway 11 carrying a 12 minute hand, this road being in turn rotatably engaged on a shaft 13 carrying a hour hand 14.
  • the lower ends of the tree 13 and the roadway 11 are connected by a timer 15 located lower than plate 6.
  • the wheel fixed 5 and timer 15 thus being located under the tray 6, nothing is superimposed on the tray which therefore remains entirely uncovered under the ice that will come overcome it. This is of course not the case for the construction proposed in the document cited above, where the platform is surmounted by a bridge supporting the fixed wheel and the timer.
  • Figures 1 and 3 show that the drive member 9 includes a barrel 16 which contains a non-spring shown and whose tree 17 carries a first ratchet 18. This ratchet 18 meshes with a pinion 19 which is integral of the tube 7 to which the plate 6 is fixed.
  • the fixing of the tray 6 on the tube 7 can be made of different manners.
  • the shaft 17 of the barrel carries a second ratchet 21 coaxial with the first ratchet 18 and located under the latter.
  • the second ratchet 21 meshes with a wheel 22 mounted frictionally on the roadway 11.
  • the wheel 42 of timer 15 is engaged with pinion 43 of pavement 11.
  • the hour wheel 44 of the shaft 13 is engaged with the pinion 45 of the wheel 42 of the timer 15.
  • the ring 47 is held in a fixed ring 58 by means of feet dial 59.
  • the tube 7 carrying the plate 6 is pivoted in a plate 8.
  • this plate is integral with a barrel bridge 46 in which the tube 7 is also pivotally mounted, so that this tube is held in place radially and axially by the plate 8 and by the barrel bridge 46 (see FIG. 3).
  • the two ratchets 18 and 21 equipping the barrel 16 can be the same diameters or diameters different. If they are the same diameters, we will understand that the pinion 19 and the wheel 22 will have the same diameters and that consequently pavement 11 and the needle of 12 minutes related to it will rotate at the same speed that the tube 7 and the plate 6 which is linked to it, that is to say one turn per hour. In the example shown in Figure 3, the diameter of the ratchet 18 is larger than the diameter of the ratchet 21, as a result of which the plate 6 will rotate faster from the minute hand 12.
  • the plate 6 is integral with tube 7 which is crossed by the roadway 11 and tree 13 respectively carrying the 12 minute and 14 hour hands.
  • the regulator 2 usually includes a balance 49 and a spiral spring 50.
  • the exhaust includes the escape wheel 51 and its pinion 52, the anchor 53, the fork stick 54, the large platter 55 and the pendulum shaft 56.
  • the pendulum shaft is pivoted between the plate 6 and a balance bridge 57 fixed on the plate 6 by means of pillars 68 (see Figure 4).
  • the train 4 includes a plurality of mobiles ensuring gear link between the exhaust pinion 52 and the fixed wheel 5.
  • the cog bridge is fixed on the plate 6 at pillar means 67 (see Figure 4).
  • the number of mobiles (here mobiles 29, 30 and 31) making up the train 4 as well as the gear ratios existing between these mobiles will depend on the frequency of the pendulum and number of turns per unit of time chosen for the rotation of the plate 6. This cog indeed is inserted between the exhaust 4 (more precisely the exhaust pinion 52) and the fixed wheel 5. Its characteristics and particularities therefore impose a number of turns determined per unit time on the board.
  • the pendulum 49 oscillates at the rate of 21,600 vibrations per hour. If the escape wheel 51 is provided with 20 teeth, this wheel and the pinion 52 which is linked to it will 540 revolutions per hour. Gear 4 includes all three mobile 29, 30 and 31 including the gear ratio included between the exhaust pinion 52 and the fixed wheel is 270. It follows that the plate 6 makes two turns per hour. It will be understood that other reports may be chosen to obtain other speeds from plate 6, when will be discussed later the second mode of execution of the invention. It will be noted here, however, that the speed preferred two turns per hour seems wise since it provides at least all five minutes another image of the tray position.
  • FIG. 3 shows that the plate 6 carries a mobile 35 which meshes with the fixed wheel 5, this mobile in turn driving a pinion 34 fixed on a shaft 33, tree on which the small needle is fitted second 32.
  • the shaft 33 and the mobile 35 are pivoted between the plate 6 and the gear train 66.
  • the second hand 32 overcomes the bridge of cog 66 on which are affixed divisions of seconds 69.
  • Figure 4 is a perspective view of the tray turning 6 forming the base of the tourbillon.
  • Tube 7 drives the plate 6 in continuous rotation in the direction arrow A.
  • the wheel fixed 5 engaged with pinion 65.
  • the plate 6 drives the pinion 65 in a rotational movement combined with a revolutionary movement like a satellite, these movements being regulated by the train 4, exhaust 3 and regulator 2.
  • Figure 4 shows very clearly appear the main interest of the present invention, namely a total vision of the whole tray and the elements that surmount it. All is visible from the tube 7 at the periphery of the plate 6 and none stationary part, such as the fixed wheel or the timer or the dial, does not obstruct the vision moving parts. Only the hour hands and minutes emerging from tube 7 (not shown in the figure 4) surmount the plate. However, as they are thin and essentially mobile, they cannot hide anything.
  • Figure 4 also shows that the tray can be arranged to present certain aesthetic effects.
  • the gear train bridge 66 terminated by the dial 69 seconds and the balance bridge 57 terminated by the pendulum 49 are reminiscent of the configuration of comets. And since these bridges are placed head to tail, comets they are supposed to represent appear to be pursue each other.
  • the winding mechanism is shown in plan on the Figure 5.
  • the driving member 9, in this case its third barrel 26 ( Figure 2), is engaged by the teeth 70 of the barrel with a wheel 71 secured to a pinion intermediate 72.
  • This pinion meshes with a first reference 73 which in turn meshes with a second reference 74.
  • the fixed reference 74 meshes with a reference of flip-flop 75 which in turn meshes with the teeth horizontal 76 of a 90 ° reference bearing the reference 77.
  • the vertical toothing 78 of the 90 ° gear is taken with a sliding pinion 79 of rod 80.
  • a compound system a rocker 81 on which a spring 82 acts and a pull tab 83, on which a spring 84 with two notches acts, couples the rocker gear 75 to the second gear 74.
  • the barrel 26 is raised by rotation of the rod 80 and it reassembles the following barrels 23 and 16 itself.
  • the time-setting mechanism is shown in plan in Figure 6.
  • flip-flop 81 rotates counterclockwise around its axis of rotation located in the center of the reference 77.
  • the rocker gear 75 is decoupled from the second reference 74 (figure 5) and comes to mesh with a reference 85.
  • This reference 85 is in engagement with the wheel 42 of the timer 15, this wheel 42 meshing with the pinion 43 of pavement 11 (see also figure 3).
  • the wheel 44 hours is engaged with the pinion 45 of the timer 15. Under these conditions, when the rod is turned 80, the hour and minute hands are set hours. It should be noted here that the time setting does not cause any movement of the tube 7 and therefore of the plate 6, since there is friction between pavement 11 and the wheel 22 meshing with ratchet 21 (see Figure 3).
  • Figure 7 also shows, on the one hand, that the fixed wheel 5 is located below the plate 6 and, on the other hand, that the tube 7 is engaged in rotation on a carriageway 11 carrying a 12 minute hand, this floor being at its tower engaged in rotation on a shaft 13 carrying a hour hand 14. Tree 13 and pavement 11 are connected by a timer 15 located below the tray 6.
  • the second embodiment includes a drive member 9 comprising a spring barrel 36 (see FIG. 7) located in the center of the watch, the shaft 37 of this barrel being linked in rotation to the tube 7 carrying the plate 6 of the whirlwind.
  • the shaft 37 constitutes itself tube 7.
  • FIG 8 is a partially torn perspective view of the whole of the watch presented outside its case.
  • the plate 6 which is integral with the tube coach 7, crossed by roadway 11 respectively and the hour tree 13.
  • the hour hands 14 and minute 12 overcome the annular dial 47.
  • the dial shows inscriptions 48 and rests on ring 58 which can be part of the middle of the watch.
  • Plateau 6 is driven in continuous rotation according to the direction indicated by arrow A.
  • On the platform rest the bridge 57 in which the pendulum 49 and the bridge 66 are pivoted in which the gear train 4 and the exhaust 3 are pivoted.
