Definitions
- Powder materials of 56.74 percent by weight of SiO 2 , 10.42 percent by weight of MgO, 25.33 percent by weight of Al 2 O 3 and 7.51 percent by weight of Si 3 N 4 were employed as glass raw materials. A mixture of these raw materials was melted and refined under a nitrogen atmosphere at 1700 °C for 5 hours and at 1600 °C for 3 hours respectively. This glass was cooled and thereafter partially drawn out, to be subjected to measurement of transmittance. Fig. 1 shows the result.
- Raw materials of 50.31 percent by weight of SiO 2 , 9.81 percent by weight of CaO, 11.54 percent by weight of MgO, 20.83 percent by weight of Al 2 O 3 and 7.51 percent by weight of Si 3 N 4 were employed as glass raw materials. 1 kg of a mixture of these raw materials was melted and refined at 1650 °C through a carbon crucible of 14 cm by 10 cm by 10 cm which was lined with BN, under an atmosphere containing Ar and N 2 in a ratio of 1:9. The melting and refining times were varied to count the number of Si particles contained in the glass by the following method. Table 1 shows the results.

Claims (11)
- Oxynitridglas, das Si-Teilchen oder Si-Legierungsteilchen mit einer Größe von mindestens 0,1 µm und einer Anzahl von nicht mehr als 1,0 x 109/cm3 enthält.
- Oxynitridglas gemäß Anspruch 1, das ein auf Si-Ca-M-O-N oder Si-Ca-Mg-M-O-N basierendes Glas ist, worin M mindestens eines aus Al, Sr, La, Ba, Y, Ti, Zr, Ce, Na, K, Sb, B, Cr, Pb, V oder Sn darstellt.
- Oxynitridglas gemäß Anspruch 1, das 0,1 bis 15 Gewichtsprozent Stickstoff enthält.
- Oxynitridglas gemäß Anspruch 1, das bei einer Wellenlänge von 400 bis 800 nm einen Lichtdurchlaßgrad von mindestens 80%/mm aufweist.
- Glasfaser, die aus einem Oxynitridglas besteht, das Si- oder Si-Legierungsteilchen mit einer Größe von mindestens 0,1 µm und einer Anzahl von nicht mehr als 1,0 x 109/cm3 enthält.
- Ein Verfahren zum Herstellen von Oxynitridglas gemäß einem beliebigen der vorhergehenden Ansprüche 1 bis 5 durch Schmelzen eines Glasausgangsmaterials, das ein Oxid und eine Stickstoffverbindung enthält, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß geschmolzenes Glas bei einer Temperatur von 1.400 bis 1.690°C raffiniert wird.
- Ein Verfahren gemäß Anspruch 6, bei dem die Raffinierungstemperatur 1.500 bis 1.690°C beträgt.
- Ein Verfahren gemäß Anspruch 6, bei dem die Raffinierungszeit 1,0 bis 100 Stunden beträgt.
- Ein Verfahren gemäß Anspruch 8, bei dem die Raffinierungszeit 2 bis 60 Stunden beträgt.
- Ein Verfahren gemäß Anspruch 9, bei dem die Raffinierungszeit 4 bis 6 Stunden beträgt.
- Ein Verfahren gemäß Anspruch 6, bei dem das Glasausgangsmaterial ein Gemisch der folgenden Ausgangsmaterialien (a) bis (d) ist:(a) SiO2;(b) Si3N4 oder ein anderes Metallnitrid;(c) mindestens ein Metalloxid; und(d) CaO oder CaO + MgO.
