Definitions

  • the invention relates to a projectile which is intended to be fired from a tubular weapon.
  • grenade cartridges mostly of 40 mm caliber, which are connected to a cartridge case (cartridge) and can be fired from grenade pistols or from launcher are determined by rifles.
  • grenade cartridges e.g. Fragmentation grenades, shaped charge grenades, smoke and / or fire grenades, illuminated grenades, training grenades.
  • the invention is not limited to projectiles with a ground igniter, but can in principle also be implemented for projectiles with a head detonator.
  • Projectiles tend to rebound on impact at flat angles of impact, which can have the effect that the effect of the projectile, for example the detonation of the explosive charge, does not occur on the target object. This deficiency can also be observed on projectiles with a round, for example hemispherical, head part.
  • the object of the invention is to largely prevent the impact effect of the projectile at flat angles of incidence.
  • the head part pointing forward in the firing direction has a stable core which bears a soft rubber-like pad.
  • Bullets generally require a stable headboard.
  • a stable floor hood is the prerequisite for the "stand off", i.e. the distance of the shaped charge cone to the "tip" of the grenade, i.e. to the apex of the storey hood. If this distance becomes smaller (for example due to premature deformation of the projectile hood), the penetration rate decreases.
  • the construction according to the invention now guarantees on the one hand sufficient stability of the head part (due to the stable core), but on the other hand ensures that the projectile is braked ("eraser effect") and the charge is detonated on the spot by the soft rubber-like pad. Bounces are largely avoided even at flat angles of impact (about ⁇ 20 °).
  • the shape of the head part is preferably round, in particular hemispherical.
  • Other round-shaped shapes are, for example, semi-ellipsoids, paraboloid or ogival shapes (rotating surfaces of an ogive).
  • the invention is also applicable to a head part in the shape of a cone or a truncated cone.
  • the stable core which is preferably not a solid core, but a bowl-shaped core, so that the head part is a projectile hood, consists of hard, stiff material either made of metal, for example steel or an aluminum alloy, or of hard plastic, for example thermosets, hard thermoplastics (which show energy-elastic behavior at use temperature and whose shear modulus is usually G> 10 9 Nm -2 ), but also reinforced, eg fiber-reinforced plastics
  • Suitable materials for the soft rubber-like layer are soft rubber-like polymers or polymers with viscoelastic or rubber-elastic behavior. These include e.g. widely meshed elastomers. However, thermoplastic elastomers (also called thermoplastic rubbers) can preferably be used; these are polymers that ideally have a combination of the performance properties of elastomers and the processing properties of thermoplastics.
  • Either the entire head part or the entire projectile hood can be encased in a soft, rubber-like covering, or a partial encasement takes place, e.g. the area of the front end (the "tip") can remain without a support according to the invention.
  • the thickness of the support can preferably be relatively small (for example on the order of 1 to 10 mm).
  • the soft, rubber-like covering thus envelops the core preferably like a hood or forms an outer skin on the core.
  • the good connection between the support and the core can be ensured in various ways.
  • the shape of the support can be connected to the core by friction or a clamp fit, the elastic forces of the rubber-like material of the support acting as a clamping force.
  • Another possibility is to glue the preformed support onto the core using an adhesive.
  • the overlay can also be molded directly onto the core, e.g. by coating the core or, for example, by molding in an injection mold, it being possible to provide a positive anchoring between the support and the core by appropriate design of the core surface (grooves or the like).
  • Fig. 1 shows a partially cut view of a grenade cartridge (without cartridge)
  • Fig. 2 also shows a partially cut view of another embodiment of a grenade cartridge (without cartridge)
  • Fig. 3 shows in longitudinal section a third embodiment of a grenade cartridge (including its cartridge) .
  • the projectile of a grenade cartridge shown in FIG. 1 (the cartridge case or cartridge is not shown) has a projectile body 1 which contains the detonator (in the rear part) and an active filling, for example an explosive charge (which may also be a shaped charge) can), with or without splinter body, or fire, smoke or light trace sets or the like.
  • the front end of the projectile is formed by the hemispherical head part, which consists of a stable core 2 and there is a soft rubber-like pad 3.
  • the projectile body 1 of a grenade cartridge is again provided with a hemispherical head part, the stable core 2 of which carries a soft rubber-like pad.
  • the soft rubber-like pad 3 only partially covers the head part.
  • the apex area (the "tip") has no overlay.
  • the recess of the apex area from the casing does not interfere with the function, because the support according to the invention is intended to be effective at flat angles of incidence, where the bullet does not come into contact with the target medium in the apex area.
  • the embodiment according to FIG. 3 also relates to a grenade cartridge, which is now shown together with the cartridge 5, in which the propellant charge container 6 with the propellant charge is located.
  • Inside the projectile body 1 there is in the rear part of the detonators 7 and in the front part a hollow charge 8 which is surrounded by a splinter body 9.
  • the projectile hood consists of a bowl-shaped stable core 2, which essentially has the shape of a truncated cone closed at the front and serves as a supporting element (supporting cone) for the soft, rubber-like support 3.
  • Edition 3 If it consists of a thermoplastic elastomer, for example, it can be molded onto the core 2 in an injection molding tool, groove-shaped depressions 10 arranged in the core surface, into which the material of the support 3 engages, ensure good interlocking between the core 2 and support 3. On the support 3, a threaded ring 11 is also formed, which serves to connect the hood with the projectile body 1.
