Definitions
- the invention relates to an electrical connector for the connection of electrical conductors, in particular of raster web cables, with an insulating housing for a number of contact elements corresponding to the number of poles, each of which has at least one connecting leg, which can be firmly anchored to a connector carrier such as a circuit board, the insulating housing on a bearing section of the contact element is displaceably mounted between a first and a second setting, and the contact element has spring-elastic clamping legs to form a clamping zone with clamping edges acting against one another on the conductor.
- An electrical connector of this type has become known for example from DE-PS 31 18 057.
- the contact element is bent essentially in a U-shape, an elongated U-leg being soldered as a connecting leg in a printed circuit board.
- the cranked extension of this leg serves as a bearing section for the insulating housing, which can be moved along this.
- a clamping zone arranged in the U-apex of the contact element is opened with two clamping edges lying opposite one another and contacting the conductor. After inserting the conductor, the insulating housing is moved into its position close to the circuit board, i.e. against the circuit board.
- a contact piece of the insulating material housing acts on the resilient free leg of the contact element and presses the U-loop together, so that the clamping zone closes around the conductor and holds it in place. If you want to remove the conductor from the connector, you pull the insulating housing back from the circuit board to the position remote from the circuit board, which relieves the clamping zone and the conductor can be removed.
- the electrical connector according to DE-PS 31 18 057 is very advantageous in itself. It allows a slim, but high construction.
- the known arrangement and configuration therefore finds its limits with increasing miniaturization, which in the meantime tends to grid dimensions, that is to say distances between two adjacent contact elements, which are at a pitch of 1.25 or even 1 mm, and to very low overall heights.
- the present invention has for its object to provide an electrical connector of the type required in the preamble of claim 1, which is suitable for the particularly firm, but releasable connection of electrical conductors in a strongly miniaturized design. It is also important that the conductors can be connected quickly and easily.
- the invention solves this problem in the first place and essentially in that near the connecting leg of the contact element, two spring legs, which extend in the manner of a fork angle in the direction of the conductor to be inserted, are formed, the free end portions of which are directed towards one another and form the clamping legs and the conductor grasp like a pair of pliers.
- the clamping edges are preferably attached to ends at the front in the plug-in direction of the conductor of sliding slopes interacting with the conductor to be inserted, in such a way that the conductor itself can spread the clamping legs apart.
- the relative mobility of the insulating material housing to the contact element no longer serves to open and close the contact zone due to its bending.
- Electrical conductors can be connected by simply inserting the stripped conductor ends into the conductor insertion opening of the insulating material housing.
- the stripped conductor ends can push the spring legs apart with their pliers-like clamping legs against the spring restoring force and are clamped like pliers when the end position is reached in the clamping zone.
- the clamping zone is assigned to the free ends of the spring legs, so that there is no need for a U-shaped spring structure which takes up space in the clamping area.
- a particular advantage is that the insulating housing for the conductor connection does not have to be pushed first into a first end setting and into a second locking position after the conductor has been inserted.
- the displaceable arrangement of the insulating housing on the bearing section of the contact element fixed to the connection carrier has the essential purpose in the invention that the clamping zone is completely released in the corresponding setting of the insulating housing remote from the connector carrier, so that the stripped conductor end can easily be detached from the connector.
- the electrical connector designated in its entirety by 10, has an insulating material housing 11 and a number of contact elements 12 corresponding to the number of poles.
- the exemplary embodiment shown in the figures is a four-pole electrical connector with an insulating housing 11 and four contact elements 12 of the same type, which, as shown in FIGS. 2 and 3, are arranged in parallel one behind the other.
- Each contact element 12 substantially has the shape of a three-pronged fork.
- the fork stem is formed by a connecting leg 13 for attachment to a connector bracket 14.
- the connecting leg 13 is a solder pin of the contact element 12 and the connector carrier 14 is a printed circuit board.
- the two outer “fork tines” are shown by two movable spring legs 15 formed symmetrically to one another on the connecting leg 13.
- the third, centrally arranged fork tine serves as a bearing section 16 for holding and movably guiding the insulating material housing 11.
- This bearing section 16 is straddled by rider bars 17 which flank it laterally.
- Each slide bar 17 has in its end region facing the connector carrier 14 a locking projection 18 which interacts with a cam-like stop 19 which is arranged on the inside of each spring leg 15.
- the connecting leg 13 is centrally below, that is, in a straight extension of the central web 16 and thus also centrally between the two spring legs 15, so that the thrust forces during the movement of the insulating housing 11 without bending moment on the contact element 12 held on the connector carrier 14 and its Can transfer attachment zone. This is of particular advantage for reasons of stability.
- the insulating material housing 11 has a chamber-like receiving space 21 for each spring leg 15 of the contact element 12, in the middle of which the tab strips 17 of the insulating material housing 11 are arranged, the inner sides of which are slideways for the movement of the insulating material housing 11 along the contact element-side bearing section, the central web 16.
- Each spring leg 15 has a clamping leg 22 with a sharp clamping edge 24 in the region of its free end.
- the two clamping legs 22 can grip a conductor 26, 27 between them in the manner of pliers.
- the clamping legs 22 are arranged with respect to the insulator housing-side conductor insertion opening 25 so that the stripped end 26 of an electrical conductor 27 inserted through the opening 25 presses against a sliding bevel 30 pointing towards the clamping edge 24 and the clamping leg 22 and thus the spring leg 15 against its spring restoring force to the outside presses.
- the insulating material housing 11 is pulled out of its setting near the connector carrier (FIG. 1 or 4) into its setting away from the connector carrier according to FIG. 5.
- the cam-shaped stops 19 provide care the spring legs 15 cooperating control tracks 29 on the tab strips 17 of the insulating housing for a spreading of the spring legs 15. This has the consequence that the clamping legs 22 with their clamping edges come out of engagement of the conductor 26, which are thus removed from the connector 10 without force and destruction can.
- the illustrated conductor 26, 27 is part of a ribbon cable in the exemplary embodiment, in which the insulations 33 of all individual conductors lying parallel next to one another are usually in a material connection.
- the electrical connector shown and described is particularly suitable for connecting such ribbon cables.
- Fig. 6 illustrates the special design of the contact element 12. Particularly important here is the plane-cranked arrangement of the two clamping legs 22 relative to all other sections of the contact element 12 arranged in a parallel plane.
- the offset 31 on the one hand permits the long design of the central web 16 and at the same time the use of long, stripped conductor ends 26 lying next to it. At the same time, this increases the contact area that the conductor end 16 can also produce an electrically conductive connection to the central web 16 outside the clamping zone K.

Abstract
Description
- Fig. 2 eine Seitenansicht in Richtung des Ansichtspfeiles 11 der Fig. 1,
- Fig. 5 den Verbinder nach Fig. 4 bzw.
- Fig. 6 eine schaubildliche Darstellung eines Kontaktelements.
- Fig. 6 verdeutlicht die besondere Gestaltung des Kontaktelements 12.
