Description

The invention relates to a flat knitting machine with a front and a rear needle bed, which is composed of individual interchangeable sections.

It has already been known or proposed to assemble the needle beds of flat knitting machines from individual webs, two of which adjoin the guide channel for a needle. It is also known to connect these individual webs to one another in groups and to line these web groups together as individual sections of a needle bed.

In principle, the idea of designing a needle bed in such a way that it can be knitted with two stitch finenesses by appropriately fitting it with needles is also known (DE-GM 18 72 478). So far, however, this idea can only be used to a limited extent or only with older machines realize with simple lock systems, so that it has so far gained no practical importance.

The invention has for its object to design a modern flat knitting machine so that it can work with needles of different fineness.

The object is achieved with a flat knitting machine of the type mentioned at the outset in that the sections of the needle beds have a different needle pitch, so that needles of different fineness are used in adjacent needle bed sections.

In the flat knitting machine designed according to the invention, the needles of different fineness can be distributed in any way onto the needle beds, depending on whether several individual knits are to be made and whether knits of different fineness should be distributed symmetrically or asymmetrically in these knits. The interchangeable sections of the needle bed can have different lengths, so that areas of different widths of different fineness can be knitted.

When the invention is applied to modern flat knitting machines which have slides with a plurality of lock systems, the individual lock systems can each be assigned needles of different fineness, and the machines can be switched and controlled in such a way that different lock systems also take over the work of stitch formation in the different sections . At least one of the several can be expedient Lock systems differ from the others by a differently designed mesh cap control curve.

Tests have shown that a flat knitting machine designed according to the invention can practically be equipped with needles of all common subtleties. Advantageously, the carriage can have a knitting and neck lock system for needles of fineness 2-4, one for needles of fineness 3-5, one for needles of fineness 4-6 and one for needles of fineness 7 and 8. In flat knitting machines with a known electronic control device, which allows a slide reversal at any desired location of the needle beds composed of different sections, the use of different lock systems in different lengths of a needle bed presents no difficulties. The use of the invention in knitting machines in which an individual drive is provided for each needle of each needle bed becomes even more problem-free.

The principle of the invention is explained in more detail below on the basis of an exemplary embodiment on a two-bed flat knitting machine with a slide, each with four lock systems, using the attached schematic illustration.

The schematic drawing shows the front needle bed 10 and the rear needle bed 11 of a flat knitting machine, both of which are composed of individual sections 10.1 and 11.1 of different lengths. The connection points between the individual sections 10.1 and 11.1 of the needle beds 10 and 11 are thick dash-dotted lines indicated. All of the needle bed sections 10.1 and 11.1 in the illustrated embodiment which are filled with needles are designated by numbers, 4, 6 or 8, which are the numbers of the fineness of the needles used there. Two separate shaped knitted parts 12 and 13 are to be produced on the flat knitting machine. For this reason, middle sections 10.2 and 11.2 are present in the needle beds, in which no needles are inserted, because these areas are not to be used for knitting. One knitted part 12 should have five areas of different mesh size, which are arranged symmetrically distributed on it. The two outer sections 12.1 and 12.5 are knitted with needles of gauge 4, the adjacent areas 12.2 and 12.4 with needles of gauge 6 and the middle area 12.3 with needles of gauge 8. the other knitted fabric 13 has two unequal and asymmetrically arranged knitted areas, of which the smaller knitted area 13.1 is to be knitted with needles of gauge 8 and the larger knitted area 13.2 is to be knitted with needles of gauge 4. In the areas of the needle beds 10 and 11 provided for the formation of the knitted fabric 12, the same needle bed sections 10.1 and 11.1 are assembled in the front needle bed 10 and in the rear needle bed 11. In the knitting area for the knitted fabric 13, however, the needle beds 10 and 11 have different sections, namely the front needle bed 10, a section for needles of fineness 8 and a section for needles of fineness 4, and the rear needle bed 11 - as an example of possible variations - but only one single section with needles of gauge 8. It would also be possible here to select a section with needles of fineness 5 instead of a section with needles of fineness 8. When moving from Stitches would then be needle-to-needle offset, and after transferring a stitch around a needle, the offset would be started again. In the case of a single-needle drive already mentioned, the transfer process can be easily controlled.

The schematic drawing also shows the two carriage halves 14 and 15 for the front needle bed 10 and the rear needle bed 11. Each carriage half is equipped with four lock systems 14.1, 14.2, 14.3, 14.4 and 15.1, 15.2, 15.3 and 15.4, the combined knitting - and cape lock systems are and are symbolized by triangles. Each lock system is assigned a different needle gauge, which is expressed by the designations U4, U5, U6 and U7 / 8. This means that the lock systems 14.1 and 15.1 for controlling the needles of gauge 4, the lock systems 14.2 and 15.2 for controlling the needles of gauge 5, the lock systems 14.3 and 15.3 for controlling the needles of gauge 6 and the lock systems 14.4 and 15.4 for control the needles of fineness 7 and 8 are provided.

Not shown in the drawing are an electronic control device and the drive device for the carriage 14/15, which reverses the carriage at any desired point on the needle beds, i.e. also at each transition point from one needle bed section 10.1, 11.1 to the next, and a selection of the individual Allow sections 10.1, 11.1 of the two needle beds 10, 11 lock systems of the slide halves 14, 15 to be used.
