Definitions

  • the invention relates to an electrical connection terminal, in particular a ballast terminal for choke or transformer coils, with a base body which can be covered by a hood, which comprises a receiving space for a current- or temperature-sensitive protective element and at least two mutually parallel terminal inserts, each with two connection contact points.
  • DE-U-3342395 discloses a connection terminal in which the base body provided as an attachment to the housing of the transformer coil has two screw-type terminals for two subsequent conductors, and can optionally be equipped with a thermal fuse. Without a thermal fuse, both screw-type terminals are provided on terminal inserts with a protruding plug pin, which engage in the winding contacts when the base body is inserted into the front of the housing. If the thermal fuse is used, only one of the two clamping inserts with a pin and the thermal fuse are inserted into their receiving space, one end of the conductor of the thermal fuse being bent so that it comes to lie instead of the pin of the second clamping insert not used. The second conductor end of the thermal fuse is fixed in a separate clamping insert by means of a screw terminal, the second screw terminal connection for the second conductor to be connected also being provided on this clamping insert.
  • a conductor connection is therefore available in two different positions, depending on the use of the thermal fuse. This can delay the assembly of the two conductors, since it must first be checked in which position a screw terminal is present. Furthermore, the thermal fuse is provided away from the possibly overheating part, namely the transformer coil, and finally, it is not possible to replace them with other protective elements, since these require a differently dimensioned receiving space
  • the object of the invention is therefore to create an electrical connection terminal with clearly defined conductor connection positions, the receiving space of which allows the installation of current- or temperature-sensitive protective elements of variable sizes and different types.
  • the position of the clamping inserts remains unchanged because, instead of a clamping insert with two electrically connected connection contact points, the clamping insert with the two electrically isolated connection contact points is inserted into the base body.
  • the protective element produces the electrical line between the connection contact points and does not itself form a connection contact, as in the prior art. This makes it possible to give the recording room a size that allows various protective elements to be accommodated in the most favorable places.
  • This design also allows the terminal to be used in a conventional manner without a current- or temperature-sensitive protective element by replacing the terminal insert with the two electrically insulated terminal contact points either by terminal inserts with non-insulated terminal contact points or, if appropriate, also those with bridged insulation.
  • the two Connection contact points insulated from one another are thus formed on two individual clamping bodies which are separated from one another by an insulating part.
  • a single clamping body, then the insulating part and finally the second individual clamping body are thus arranged in the clamping insert receiving channel.
  • the insulating part is preferably designed as a cross piece in order to achieve the required lengths of the leakage current paths, it being possible for opposing webs of the insulating part to engage in grooves on the end of the clamping bodies.
  • the individual clamping bodies can also be used in an insert part which has two receiving chambers and is arranged in the clamping insert receiving channel.
  • Each individual clamping body preferably comprises a conventional screw terminal for the conductor connection and a receiving slot for the conductor end of the protective element.
  • the conductor end of the protective element can be soldered or clamped in the receiving slot, in which case the receiving slot can be delimited by a squeeze body.
  • the arrangement of the mutually insulated connection contact points instead of a conventional clamping insert having two contact points enables the design and arrangement of a receiving space suitable for various protective elements.
  • Such protective elements can be, for example: temperature limiters, thermal fuses, mechanically triggering circuit breakers with automatic or non-automatic reset, thermal monitors, or the like.
  • a first embodiment of this provides that a PTC thermistor can be used as a protective element in the receiving space and the receiving space extends parallel to the clamping inserts.
  • the receiving space is designed to be closed so that the PTC thermistor disc is not ventilated, the cold disc is a protection against overheating. If the receiving space is closed towards the coil winding, the PTC thermistor disc can be used as a mere current protection when the receiving space is ventilated.
  • the walls of the receiving space parallel to the clamping inserts can have ventilation openings and projections projecting into the receiving space, between which the PTC thermistor disc is arranged.
  • connection terminal results in a further significant advantage. It becomes possible to provide all four clamping inserts in the connection terminal, so that both the connections for the primary current and for the secondary current can be provided on the same end face of a ballast. Not only is a connection device saved, but the cleaning of the contact tongues of the ballast is promoted.
  • a preferred embodiment results from the fact that four clamping inserts are inserted into the base body, which form conductor connections for primary and secondary current in pairs, and the receiving space is formed in the center with the formation of air and creepage distances between the conductor connection pairs. Due to the central design between the pairs of clamping inserts, creeping and airways for any high safety regulations can be observed at the same time.
  • Another version of the terminal provides that one, in particular for contact with the Winding the choke or transformer coil certain thermal fuse can be used in an end extension of the base body.
  • a fuse can be used as a protective element in the receiving space, the two mutually insulated connection contact points each being assigned to a socket of the fuse.
  • a particularly simple configuration results from the fact that a clamping bracket protrudes perpendicularly to the conductor connection direction from each clamping body, the socket being formed between the outside of the clamping body and the free end of the clamping bracket, which presses the melt insert onto the connection contact point.
  • a connection terminal which has a main body 1 which is essentially closed on five sides in the form of a ballast terminal. Its sixth side is a choke or transformer coil or the like. facing, the winding 20 protrudes into the base body 1 (Fig. 2.6).
  • the base body 1 In the base body 1, four insertion channels 11 opening onto the open, sixth side are provided, into which clamping inserts 2, 2 'are inserted.
  • a receiving space 4 is formed, which separates the clamping inserts 2.2 'in pairs, and has walls 6 which extend parallel to the clamping inserts and which, according to FIGS.
  • the receiving space 4 serves to receive a PTC thermistor 5 (Fig. 2,4,5) or a fuse 5 für (Fig. 11,12).
  • the receiving space 4 opens on the open side, into which the winding protrudes, into an extension 4 '.
  • the extension 4 ' serves to accommodate a thermal fuse 5' (Fig. 6), the thermal fuse 5 'comes directly to the winding 20 to the system.
  • a further protective element can be arranged in the receiving space 4.
  • thermo fuse 5 ' With the PTC thermistor 5, with a fuse 5 ⁇ , with a bimetallic element, etc.
  • the extension 4 ' is laterally limited by webs 19, wherein one (Fig. 2,5,6) has a recess through which the conductor ends of the PTC thermistor 5 or the thermal fuse 5 '.
  • Fig. 7 shows the front view of a hood 16 which can be placed on the base body 1 and which covers the access openings of the screws of the connection contact points 3, 3 '.
  • This has receiving bores 18 for fastening screws which can be screwed into corresponding bores 8 in the base body 1.
  • inlet openings 21 are provided for the conductors to be fastened to the clamping inserts 2, 2 ', which conductors come from the outside and each of which is assigned a strain relief 17.
  • This consists of a rigid on the hood 16 and a movably arranged web, which overlap the conductors and are clamped together by means of a screw.
  • Three clamping inserts 2 are each formed with two connection contact points 3 in the usual way, that is, they consist of a clamping body with two clamping screws for the conductors to be connected.
  • a clamping insert 2 ' is, as can be seen especially from Fig. 8 and 9 differently formed, and is composed of two clamping bodies 12, each with a screw terminal 13 and a crimp terminal 15 together.
  • the two clamping bodies 12 are electrically separated from one another by an insulating part 10.
  • the screw terminals 13 serve as connection contact points 3 'for fastening the conductor coming from the outside, the electrical connection between the two clamping bodies via the in the receiving space 4,4 'used current or temperature-sensitive protective element 5.5', 5 ', which in the embodiment according to FIGS.
  • Each of the two clamping bodies 12 is provided on one end face with a groove 22 into which a web 23 of the insulating part 10 in the form of a cross piece engages, the necessary leakage current paths being achieved by its cross shape.
  • the groove 22 is interrupted by a crossing receiving slot 14, the web 23 extending only over the uppermost part of the groove 22 to the receiving slot 14. The parts of the side wall of the groove 22 remaining below the receiving slot 14 are easily deformable and form the crimp terminal 15 for fixing a conductor end of the current or. temperature-sensitive protective element.
  • the two clamping bodies 12 and the insulating part 10 can be inserted individually into the insertion channel in the order shown in FIG. 8, the laterally projecting ribs of the insulating part 10 being guided or latched into corresponding recesses in the side wall of the insertion channel 11 (FIG. 2, 3).
  • a fuse 5 ⁇ is used as a protective element in the receiving space 4.
  • the socket 25 of the fuse 5 ⁇ is formed by clamps 26 which protrude laterally from the two individual clamping bodies 12 into the receiving space 4.
  • the fuse 5 ⁇ used is formed by the free ends of the clamps 26 on the sides of the connection contact points 3 ' Clamping body 12 pressed.
  • 13 and 14 show a ballast terminal with an additional end terminal 27 on the primary connection side.
  • the webs 28 which extend the walls 6 of the receiving space 4 are provided in order to achieve sufficient creepage and clearance distances.
  • the terminal shown above as a ballast terminal can also be used without a temperature-sensitive component 5.5 'if, instead of the clamping insert 2', a fourth, the other corresponding clamping insert 2 is inserted into the insertion channel 11.
