Description

The invention relates to a drum gripper with a drum gripper head according to the preamble of the main claim.

Drum grippers with a drum gripper head are known, the drum gripper head consisting of a gripper mechanism which has an upper and a lower jaw which automatically grip firmly around the folded edge of the drum when the drum is started and raised. The gripper head opens automatically when it is set down, so that a practical, safe and economical solution for loading, transporting and stacking standing metal and plastic drums is provided with a so-called L-ring. In a device described in DE-B-10 25 336, the upper jaw and the lower jaw are arranged in a fixed manner via articulated connections on a carrier and connected to one another via a guide lever. This arrangement is not very adaptable and is a relatively rigid unit that can easily damage the barrel and, if damaged itself, can only be replaced and repaired as a whole. Since wear and tear easily occurs due to the constant movements and considerable weights, the ease of repair of a drum gripper head is an important feature for such constructions.

From the generic US-A-42 43 354 an arrangement has become known in which a fixed lower jaw is provided, while the upper jaw can adjust and move relative to the lower jaw. For this purpose, the lower jaw and the upper jaw are arranged on a guide lever. The lower jaw is rigidly provided on the guide lever, while the upper jaw can rotate relative to the guide lever about a pivot bearing which is designed as a short elongated hole. The guide lever is connected to the attachment via a lever connection. When starting the barrel, for example using a forklift, it is not possible to evade the guide lever and thus the adaptability of the barrel gripper head to different barrel shapes is very low and the guide lever itself represents a rigid abutment when starting the barrel Work case - when the axis has moved backwards in the slot - the entire carrying device as a parallelogram, so that vibrations during transport of the gripped barrel lead to the gripping nose being able to detach from its system and the barrel to be released. These vibrations cannot be avoided when driving over track systems or other unevenness in the transport area, for example a port system or a manufacturing area.

The invention has for its object to improve the generic device in such a way that the adaptability of the drum gripper head to different barrel designs increases, the possibility of repairing the drum gripper head is simplified and at the same time the holder of the barrel is made safer.

This object on which the invention is based is achieved by the features of the characterizing part of the main claim.

Advantageous embodiments of the teaching according to the invention are explained in the subclaims.

An embodiment of the invention is described below with reference to the drawing. The drawing shows in
  • Figure 1 is a side view of a drum gripper head on an attachment, the drum gripper head is in the gripping position, in
  • Figure 2 is a partial plan view of the device of FIG. 1 and in the
  • Figures 3, 4 and 5, the various working positions of the actual barrel gripper when gripping the barrel.

In the drawing, 1 denotes a barrel to be handled and 2 an attachment, which is equipped, for example, with receiving pockets 3 for the lifting elements of a lifting device. The attachment 2 carries a support device 4, which consists for example of two support struts 5, of which a support strut 5 can be seen in the drawing. The support struts 5 are articulated at 6 in the lower region of the attachment 2 and run in the upper region between two guides 7 and 8, for example against a spring 9, the guide being made possible by sliding bolts 10 and 11, which are shown in the corresponding in the drawing slidable slot guides.

An upper jaw 14 is pivotally supported by the supporting device 4 and has a gripping nose 15 at its end facing away from the supporting device 4. The upper jaw 14 pivotally carries at 16 a pivot lever 17 which has a lower jaw 18, the interaction between the upper jaw 14 and. Lower jaw 18 creates the actual gripper head 19. The pivot lever 17 is connected to the support device 4 via a spring 20 which tends to guide the lower part of the pivot lever 17 into the position shown rearward in FIG. 1 between the two support struts 5. In the lower area of the attachment 2, a system 21 is provided for the lower part of the barrel 1.

The operation of the device is clearer from the illustration in FIGS. 3 to 5.

In Fig. 3, the attachment 2 is moved to the barrel 1 by means of the lifting device so that the lower jaw 18 engages under the barrel tires. In this state, the upper jaw 14 is still pivoted up. If the attachment 2 is now raised, the upper jaw 14 thereby comes with the gripping nose 15 behind the upper area of the barrel ring and thereby sets the barrel 1 to the actual barrel gripper head 19.

It can be seen that the proposed device, in contrast to the previously known devices, is of considerably simpler design, so that fewer signs of wear can occur and repair work can be carried out more easily, and that the gripped barrel is held securely during transport.
