Abstract

Machine for stone blocks' sawing. The sawing machine includes a frame mounted in order to pivot around a horizontal axis (6) and wearing two saw blades (8) on each side of this frame, the cutting edge of the blades (8) having an arc shape which center coincides with this horizontal axis (6). Means are provided to animate the frame with an oscillating movement around this horizontal axis (6) and to have a forward movement horizontally of the stone blocks (23) in direction of the saw blades (8). The machine is used for cutting particularly hard stone blocks in slabs (FIG. 1).

Claims (10)

1. Machine for sawing stone blocks of the type comprising:
- a frame (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) mounted to pivot about an horizontal axis (6), symmetrical with regard to a vertical plane perpendicular to said horizontal axis (6),
- saw blades (8) the cutting edge of which, directed towards said horizontal pivot axis (6), is in the form of the arc of a circle the centre of which coincides with said axis (6), said saw blades (8) being fixed by their end to securing members (9) which are rigidly connected to said frame (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) and which are provided with means (10, 11, 12) to secure the extremities of the saw blades (8) and to tension said blades (8),
- means for moving said frame (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) with an oscillating motion about said horizontal pivot axis (6), the longitudinal axis of the saw blades (8) always forming an acute angle with regard to the vertical, transport means adapted for moving forward one or several stone blocks (23) horizontally and in a direction parallel to the planes of the saw blades (8) towards said blades (8),

characterised in that said frame (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) carries two saw blades (8) disposed on either side theoref symmetrically and parallely to its symmetrical plane, the securing members (9) being disposed in over-hangig realtionship on either side of the frame (1, 2, 3, 4, 5), and that said transport means are located on either side of said frame (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) and are provided with adjusting means adapted for adjusting the position of the stone blocks.
2. Machine according to claim 1, characterised in that said frame (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) is in the form of a right prism with a triangular base, consisting of metal beams (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) disposed along the edges of said prism and assembled by known means, said horizontal pivot axis (6) being parallel to and near one edge of the prism perpendicular to said triangular base, the longitudinal axis of either of the saw blades (8) being within the plane formed by the face of the prism opposed to said horizontal pivot axis (6).
3. Sawing machine according to any of the preceding claims, characterised in that a guiding means for the frame in provided in the vicinity of the saw blades (8), said guiding means being capable of preventing any lateral deviation of the saw blades (8).
4. Sawing machine according to claim 3, characterised in that the guiding means consists of metal plates (25) secured parallelly to the planes of the saw blades (8) against a concrete block (24) located between the saw blades (8), the frame being provided with rollers (28) which are situated on either side of the concrete block (24) and which roll without clearance on said metal plates (25).

Sawing machine according to any of the preceding claims, characterised in that said means for moving said frame with an oscillating motion about said horizontal pivot axis (6) consist of a rod and crank arrangement (13, 18) which is driven by a motor (14) through a speed reducing device (15,16,17).
6. Sawing machine according to any of the preceding claims, characterised in that the cutting edge of the saw blades (8) comprises diamond segments.
7. Sawing machine according to any of the preceding claims, characterised in that the edge of the saw blades (8) which is opposed to the cutting edge thereof has a curved concave configuration.
8. Sawing machine according to any of the preceding claims, characterised in that said means for securing the ends of the saw blades (8) to said frame are adapted for applying tensile stresses to said blades obliquely with respect to the longitudinal axis of the saw blades (8), in an manner such as to induce in each saw blade (8) a tensile component perpendicular to the cutting edge of the blades.
9. Sawing machine according to claim 8, characterised in that said means enabling to apply to each saw blade (8) oblique tensile stresses with respect to the longitudinal axis of this blade are comprised of a screw and adjustable lock-nut arrangement (10), the longitudinal axis of the screw being situated in the plane of said blade (8) and forming with the longitudinal axis of this blade an outwards acute angle.
10. Sawing machine according to any of the preceding claims, characterised in that said transport means adapted for moving the stone blocks towards the saw blades (8) are comprised of two trolleys (22) disposed on either side of the machine on horizontal rails (21) which are parallel to the planes of blades (8), the forward speed of each trolley (22) being adjustable.
