Definitions
- the invention relates to a machine for sawing particularly hard blocks of stone comprising two parallel saw blades stretched on either side of a chassis driven by a substantially vertical oscillating movement.
- a sawing machine comprising one or more saw blades driven by a rectilinear or oscillating reciprocating movement.
- the saw blades used are either steel blades sprinkled with water carrying an abrasive such as sand, steel shot, or grains of silicon carbide, or blades with diamond segments.
- Some of these machines have only one blade driven by an oscillating movement with a horizontal axis, with horizontal advance of the block to be sawed.
- the saw blade is tensioned in a frame to prevent it from being deflected during sawing. It is advantageous to place the saw blade laterally, so as not to limit the width of the block to be sawed.
- Machines comprising several saw blades are also known.
- a machine of this type corresponding to the preamble of claim 1 is described in Belgian patent BE-A-723,034.
- the various saw blades are stretched parallel in a frame and the latter is driven in an oscillating movement with horizontal axis, with horizontal advance of the block to be sawed.
- the distance between the blades is chosen so as to saw slices of desired thickness.
- the obvious advantage of this type of machine is that a series of slices can be sawed in a single sawing operation.
- the object of the present invention is to remedy the aforementioned drawbacks by producing a sawing machine with two saw blades allowing the simultaneous sawing of two slices of thickness arbitrarily chosen in two independent blocks placed on either side of the machine. This produces a symmetrical, fast and economical machine.
- Said chassis carries two saw blades arranged on either side thereof, symmetrically and parallel to its plane of symmetry, the fastening parts being arranged overhang on either side of the chassis, and said means of transport are located on either side of said frame and carry adjustment means capable of adjusting the position of the stone blocks.
- said frame assumes the shape of a right prism with a triangular base formed of metal beams arranged along the edges of said prism and assembled by means known per se; the said horizontal pivot axis is located parallel to and near a prism edge perpendicular to the said triangular base, and the longitudinal axis of each of the two saw blades merges with the plane formed by the face of the prism opposite to the said horizontal pivot axis.
- a frame guiding device is provided in the vicinity of the saw blades, so as to prevent any lateral deviation of the saw blades.
- the said guide device consists of metal plates fixed parallel to the planes of the saw blades against a concrete block placed between the saw blades, and the chassis is fitted with rollers located on either side of the block concrete, so as to roll without play on said metal plates.
- said means capable of animating said chassis with a movement oscillating around said horizontal pivot axis consist of a rod-crank system driven by an electric motor by means of a speed reduction device.
- the wire of the saw blades comprises diamond segments, and one can advantageously provide for the other edge of each blade a concave curved shape, so as to distribute the tension forces in the blade.
- said means for fixing the ends of the saw blades to said frame are provided to apply to them tensions in oblique directions relative to the longitudinal axis of the saw blades, in such a way that there appears in each saw blade a tension component perpendicular to the wire of the blades.
- said means for applying to each saw blade oblique tensions relative to the longitudinal axis of this blade are constituted by a system of adjustable screws and locknuts whose axes are located in the plane of this blade, forming an acute angle towards the outside with the longitudinal axis of the blade.
- the said means of transport capable of advancing the blocks of stone towards the saw blades consist of two carriages placed on either side of the machine on horizontal rails parallel to the planes of the saw blades, the advance speed of each of the carriages being adjustable.
- Said means for adjusting the position of the blocks on the transport means are known per se and can advantageously consist of two cylinders integral with said transport means and two measuring fingers.
- the chassis of the sawing machine shown in FIG. 1 affects the shape of a right prism with a triangular base formed of metal beams 1 to 5 arranged along the edges of said prism and assembled by means known per se.
- a horizontal pivot axis 6 secured to a bearing 7 and located along an edge of the prism perpendicular to said triangular base of this prism allows the chassis to pivot.
- the face of the prism opposite to said horizontal pivot axis 6 is provided for carrying two saw blades 8, biconcaves and with diamond segments, situated in two planes perpendicular to said horizontal pivot axis 6 on either side of the chassis.
- the wire of the two saw blades 8 has an arcuate shape, the center of which coincides with the said horizontal pivot axis 6.
- Each of the ends of the saw blades 8 is fixed to fixing pieces 9 integral with the ends of the two horizontal crosspieces 4 and 5 forming the edges of the prism opposite and parallel to said horizontal pivot axis 6; the fasteners 9 are themselves arranged cantilevered on either side of the chassis.
- a system of screws and locknuts 10 mounted on said fixing pieces 9 makes it possible to put the saw blades 8 under tension, by means of connecting members 11 and studs 12, the longitudinal axes of said screws attachment 10 of each blade 8 being located in the plane of this blade by forming with the longitudinal axis of the blade 8 a certain angle towards the outside.
- the upper horizontal cross member 4 is provided with an anchoring lug to which the upper end of a connecting rod 13 which is part of an alternative drive system comprising an electric motor 14 provided with a pinion 15 is fixed.
- the arrangement of the bearings 7 and 19, of the crank 18 and of the connecting rod 13 is such that the longitudinal axis of the saws 8 always remains inclined relative to the vertical in the direction opposite to that of the advance.
- the bearing 7 is placed so that the horizontal pivot axis 6 is located slightly above ground level, and a pit 20 is arranged in the ground between said bearing 7 and the alternative drive system, to allow the lower chassis beams and the lower horizontal crossmember 5 to oscillate freely.
- means of transport consisting of two horizontal railways 21 parallel to the planes of the saw blades 8 and two carriages 22 capable to each carry a block of stone 23.
- the sawing machine shown in FIG. 2 comprises a guide device intended to prevent any horizontal movement of the chassis.
- a concrete block 24 is placed between the metal beams 1 and 2 of the machine, and carries two metal plates 25 on each of its lateral faces.
- the concrete block is placed as a bridge over the pit 20 so as to provide sufficient space for the lower horizontal cross member 5.
- rollers 28 are fixed to the vertical beams 1 and 2 by means of supports 29 bolted to the said vertical beams.
- One of the important advantages provided by the invention resides in the fact that it combines the simplicity and the ease of operation of machines with a single blade with the symmetry and the balancing of the tensions of machines with several blades.
- the machine according to the invention makes it possible to simultaneously saw two different blocks, of different dimensions, and even of different materials, according to slices of thickness arbitrarily chosen.
- Another advantage of the invention is that it makes it very easy to modify the thickness of the sawed slices by a simple adjustment of the position of the blocks on the means of transport. In view of the simplicity of this operation for adjusting the thickness of the wafer, slices of any thickness can be sawn economically.
