Definitions
- the invention relates to a hydraulic fluid based on nitrogen-containing boric acid esters, alkylene glycol alkyl ethers and / or bis (alkylene glycol monoalkyl ether) forms.
- Hydraulic liquids are known from DE-B-1 768 933, which are composed of nitrogen-containing boric acid esters and alkylene glycol alkyl ethers (cf. Examples 39 and 40 of the German specification). Furthermore, DE-A-2141441 describes hydraulic liquids which essentially consist of boric acid esters of alkylene glycol monoalkyl ethers and bis (alkylene glycol monoalkyl ether) forms.
- Hydraulic fluids especially brake fluids for motor vehicles, are subject to high demands with regard to their chemical and physical properties. According to the currently applicable standard regulations, which are regulated by U.S. Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 116 and set by SAE Standard J 1703, brake fluids should in particular have a high dry boiling point (reflux boiling point dry) and wet boiling point (reflux boiling point wet) and should have a viscosity that is only within a wide temperature range little changes.
- R, R 1 , x and y can be identical or different.
- the alkyl group R and R 1 can be straight-chain or branched, preferably it is straight-chain.
- Preferred boric acid esters of the formula I are those in which R is an alkyl group with 1 to 4 C atoms, R 1 is an alkyl group with 3 to 9 C atoms, and x and y are an integer from 1 to 3.
- Boric acid esters of the formula I in which R is methyl, ethyl, propyl or butyl, R 1 butyl, pentyl, hexyl, heptyl or octyl (capryl), and x is 2 or 3 and y is 1 or 2 are particularly preferred.
- the amine boric acid esters of the formula I - a reaction product of orthoboric acid, a multiply ethoxylated, primary alkylamine suitable according to formula I and an ethylene glycol monoalkyl ether suitable according to the formula in a molar ratio of about 1: 1: 1 - are carried out according to known procedures.
- the reaction components mentioned are reacted in a reaction vessel equipped with a stirrer and optionally with a reflux condenser at a temperature of about 50 to about 150 ° C., preferably about 90 to 130 ° C., with stirring, the water of reaction formed being continuously removed.
- the reaction is expediently carried out in the presence of an inert solvent which forms an azeotrope with water, such as, for example, benzene, toluene, xylene, ethylbenzene or the like.
- the water of reaction can also be removed by carrying out the reaction under reduced pressure, for example in a water jet vacuum (7 to 20 mbar).
- a water jet vacuum 7.0 to 20 mbar.
- it is advantageous to take the ethylene glycol monoalkyl ether in excess that is to say to use the three reaction components mentioned preferably in molar amounts by weight of about 1: 1: 1.2 to 1: 1: 2.5.
- the implementation is preferably carried out in two stages.
- first stage about 1 mole of boric acid is reacted with about 1 mole of a di-ethoxylated, primary alkylamine with continuous discharge of water.
- the reaction product (about 1 mole) from the first stage is reacted with at least 1 mole of an ethylene glycol monoalkyl ether, again with continuous water removal.
- Component b) of the hydraulic fluid according to the invention is preferably an ethylene glycol monoalkyl ether of the formula II and / or a bis (ethylene glycol monoalkyl ether) form of the formula III.
- a particularly preferred ethylene glycol monoalkyl ether according to formula II is triethylene glycol monomethyl ether (methyltriethylene glycol):
- a particularly preferred bis (ethylene glycol monoalkyl ether) form according to formula IV is the bis (diethylene glycol monomethyl ether) form:
- the hydraulic fluid according to the invention preferably contains 35 to 55% by weight of component a), 40 to 65% by weight of component b), and 0.5 to 5% by weight of component c) (the percentages by weight) are in each case based on the total weight of the liquid, the sum of the weight percentages being 100).
- the compounds recommended for hydraulic fluids based on glycols and / or glycol derivatives can be used as inhibitors to prevent corrosion (corrosion inhibitors), oxidation (antioxidants) and to regulate the pH (pH stabilizers).
- the pH stabilizers are preferably used in an amount of 0.5 to 2% by weight, based on the total weight of the liquid.
- the corrosion inhibitors are preferably used in an amount of 0.05 to 2% by weight and the antioxidants preferably in an amount of 0.05 to 1% by weight, in each case based on the total weight of the liquid.
- the hydraulic fluid according to the invention is produced by mixing the components together, for example in a container with a stirrer, as a result of which a homogeneous mixture is obtained in a simple manner.
- the mixing is carried out at atmospheric pressure and at room temperature, it can optionally also be carried out at a higher temperature (30 to 50 ° C), suitably keeping moisture away.
- the boric acid ester of the formula obtained is a clear, light yellow colored liquid and has a viscosity at 25 ° C of 2B8 mm 2 / s.
- the content of N is 3.96% by weight (theory: 4.03% by weight) and B is 3.2% by weight (theory: 3.2% by weight).
- the boric acid ester obtained is a clear, light yellow colored liquid.
- the boric acid ester obtained is a clear, yellow liquid and has a viscosity at 20 ° C of 143 mm 2 / s.
- the B content is 3.2% by weight (theory: 3.2% by weight).

Description

- anorganischen Alkalisalze, vorzugsweise die Natriumsalze der Kohlensäure, der phosphorigen Säure oder der Phosphorsäure;
- Alkalisalze von Fettsäuren, vorzugsweise das Natriumsalz der Laurinsäure, Palmitinsäure, Stearinsäure oder Ölsäure;
- Mineral- oder Fettsäure, vorzugsweise Butylamin, Hexylamin, Octylamin, Isononylamin, Oleylamin, Di-propylamin oder Di-butylamin;
- Aromatische Amine, vorzugsweise Phenyl-α-naphthylamin, Diphenylamin oder Derivate hiervon;
- substituierte Phenole, vorzugsweise Dibutylkresol, 2,6-Di-butyl-p-kresol,
- 2,6-Di-tert.-butyl-p-kresol und 2,4-Dimethyl-6-tert.-butylphenol;
- Brenzkatechin und Hydrochinon, die gegebenenfalls kernsubstituiert sind;
- Chinone, vorzugsweise Anthrachinon; und
- Phenothiazin.
