Description
Method for melting a glass plate onto a ceramic vessel Material The present invention relates to a method for melting his glass plate to his vessel made of ceramic material, which consists of that the glass plate and the ceramic vessel together at the softening temperature of the glass are heated, the glass plate over its entire surface by a Base is supported. According to the method according to the invention. manufactured vessels, are particularly suitable for the production of vacuum vessels, especially for oscilloscope and television tubes.
Ceramic flasks have already been used: P'langlas plates for television tubes melted by local heating of the edge zone. Even the blunt connection two ceramic tubes: one has carried out by one. the two tubes to the Ends exactly sanded off and a matching one; short glass tube over the junction has pushed, using a heating device until it softens and snuggles was heated to the tubes. These merging processes that have become known are suitable not for the fusion of 'workpieces with larger ones. and particularly non-circular merging zones. In: such ceramic articles; z. B. Oscillograph and television tubes for large picture formats are extensive merging zones of glass plates mixes, for example, rectangular format on ceramic calves, required. The pressure that occurs as a result of the subsequent evacuation of the pistons and tensile stresses are located eccentrically so that the fusion zone is strong different pull and Is subjected to compressive stress. In such cases, the known merging processes cannot be used Connections achieve more that meet all the requirements for strength and gas tightness withstand.
In contrast to the known method, the method according to the invention is suitable for this Procedure. This method is based on the fact that local heating of the ceramic material: the joints with the glass that are too impermissible high internal tensions can be avoided at all costs. In the Application of the method according to the invention melts when the softening temperature is reached of the glass this vacuum-tight with the ceramic body without any uneven Tensions remain in the joints as it would if one a glass plate fuses to a ceramic vessel by means of a jet flame, which only in each case allowed to heat a small part of the entire circumference to be fused. The support makes it possible to achieve that the inner surface of the glass plate, which is usually difficult to access for later processing, in their Condition when melting does not suffer.
To carry out the method according to the invention, the ceramic vessel expediently placed with the glass plate in an oven, on a base, which has the task of supporting the glass plate during the softening process. This document does not need to extend over the entire surface of the glass plate, but can provided that the surface of the glass plate facing the inside of the ceramic vessel remains flat should be a flat surface extending over the entire surface of the glass plate. If les is desired, as it is z. B. often in particular larger television tubes The case is to give the plate to be melted a curved shape, so can a Correspondingly curved support surface also serves to shape the glass plate, by the glass plate during the softening process, a correspondingly curved Pad is brought to snuggle up.
When the ceramic vessel and the glass plate are heated together in an oven, the base can receive additional heating, too the fusion point by a one around the entire circumference of the vessel special heating device in addition: heating.
According to the invention can. the glass plate with the face of the The ceramic vessel, or the glass plate can be inserted into the opening of the ceramic vessel be fitted so that the lateral surface of the glass plate with the inner lateral surface of the ceramic vessels is fused. One can also proceed in such a way that the glass plate is placed in a recess on the inner edge of the end face of the ceramic vessel revolves around and then also fused with the annular surface thus formed will.
It is advisable to fuse the glass plate with the ceramic vessel in such a way that that the plate protrudes slightly over the edge of the ceramic vessel after melting. One can then grind and polish the outer surface of the glass plate to make the glass plate to make transparent again without the edge of the ceramic vessel and the Need to attack fusion joint here.
The methods according to the invention are based on the accompanying drawings explained in more detail.
