Description
Die Erfindung betrifft einen katalytischen Lack und seine Verwendung zur Herstellung von gedruckten
Schaltungen unter Verwendung von Basismalerialicn und Vi-.'vllabsehcidungsvcrfahrcn.
Sogenannte katalytischc Lacke beziehungsweise Beschichtungen
sind bereits bekannt (DE-AS Ib 96 603. GB-PS 12 32 883, US-PS 35 20 723, US-PS 39 25 578.
US-PS 39 04 783, US-PS 39 59 547 und US-PS 60 257) und unter anderem auch schon für die Verwendung
bei Verfahren zur Herstellung von gedruckten Schaltungen vorgeschlagen worden.
Beim Additiv-Vcrfah-εη wird zum Beispiel ein Kleber auf die Platten aufgebracht (DE-PS 14 96 984), der dann
zur Erzielung einer genügend großen Haftfestigkeit einer chemischen Beizbehandlung, vorwiegend mit
Chromschwefelsäure, unterzogen wird (DE-AS Ib 65 314). Anschließend wird eine solche Platte in üblicher
Weise aktiviert und darauffolgend bis zu 4 — 5 μηι
chemisch verkupfert unter Einschluß eventuell notwendiger Löcher. Danach wird in bekannter Weise entweder
im Sie oder Photodruck ein Negativbild der gewünschten
Leiterplatte aufgebracht und durch anschließende galvanische Verkupferung die gewünschte Leiterzugstärke
von z. B. 30 μιη aufgebracht.
Die Leiterbahnen müssen für den anschließenden Ätzvorgang mit einem Ätzresist, zum Beispiel Zinn-Blei
oder Zinn galvanisch abgedeckt werden.
Vor der anschließenden Ätzung der Platte werden
nun der Siebdrucklack entfernt und die freistehenden Kupferflächen mit entsprechenden Ätziösungen abge-
b ätzt.
Das Additiv-Verfahren ermöglicht die Herstellung wesentlich feinerer Leiterzüge, da der Ätzvorgang lediglich
die 4—5 μηι starke chemisch aufgebrachte Kupferschicht
abätzen muß, jedoch ist auch hierbei ~;ne
ίο Vielzahl von Arbeitsschritten erforderlich. Hinzu
kommt, daß in jedem Falle eine vorher mit Kleber beschichtete Platte benutzt werden muß, die zur Erzielung
guter Haftfestigkeilen der nachfolgend aufzubringenden Schichten vorher noch aufgerauht werden muß.
Aufgabe der vorliegenden Erfindung ist die Schaffung
eines Mittels, welches in einfachster Weise die Herstellung von gedruckten Schaltungen ermöglichi und vor
allem die aufwendigen Ätzvorgänge vermeidet.
Diese Aufgabe wird erfindungsgemäß durch einen kaialytischen Lack gelöst, der ein Bindemittel auf Basis
von Kunst- oder Naturstoffen. Wasser, ein Metallsalz, einen Komplexbildner und ein Reduktionsmittel enthält
und dadurch gekennzeichnet ist, daß als Bindemittel in Wasser lösliche oder dispergierbare Acrylverbindungen.
Stärke oder Stärkeverbindungen, Cellulose oder ihre Derivate, als Metallsalz ein wasserlösliches Kupfersalz,
als Komplexbildner Äthylcndiamintetraessigsäure und als Reduktionsmittel Formaldehyd enthält.
Der erfindungsgem.iße katalytische Lack kann zusätzlich
noch ein organisches Lösungsmittel oder Lösungsmittelgemisch, ein Füll- oder Verdickungsmittel,
einen Stabilisator und gegebenenfalls ein Netzmittel enthalten.
Als Bindemittel eignen sich insbesondere in Wasser
Vi lösliche oder dispergierbare Mittel, insbesondere auf
Basis von Kunst- und Naturstoffen, wie zum Beispiel Acryl-Verbindu'igen oder Stärke und Stärkeverbindungen
oder Cellulose und ihre Derivate, insbesondere Methyl- und Carboxymethylcellulose.
Als Metallsalze eignen sich vorwiegend wasserlösliche Kupfersalzc und zwar insbesondere das Sulfat.
Der erfindungsgemäße Lack kann gegebenenfalls noch organische Lösungsmittel, wie zum Beispiel Methylcnchlorid.
Stabilisatoren, w'e zum Beispiel Schwefei- oder sclenhaltige Verbindungen. Füllmittel mit thixotropen
Eigenschaften, wie /.um Beispiel kolliodalc Kieselsäure, Bentonite, Kreide oder Titandioxid, enthalten.
Der erfindungsgemäße Lack ermöglicht mit vorteilhafterweise weniger Verfahrensschritten als bei den bekannten
Verfahren die Herstellung einer Leiterschicht, indem nach dem Auftragen des Lackes, vorzugsweise
mittels Siebdrucks, und dem Trocknen dieses Lackes die hierbei gebildete Metallkeimschicht durch Einwirkung
eines metallabscheidenden Bades verstärkt wird.
Ein besonderer technischer Fortschritt besteht hierbei darin, daß die sonst erforderliche Bekeimung mit
Palladium sowie die Beizbehandlung entfallen. Die Anwendung eines Haftvermittlers ist ebenfalls nicht mehr
to erforderlich.
Die Metallkeimschicht scheidet sich bei der Verwendung des Lackes überdies extrem fein und gleichmäßig
verteilt ab, wodurch sich außerordentlich geringe Schichtdicken von beispielsweise nur 0,067 μηι herstel-
b5 len lassen, welche eine hervorragende Haftfestigkeit
aufweisen.
Für die Auftragung des Lackes auf die Basismaterialien
kommen die üblichen Druckverfahren in Betracht,
bei denen man ein gewünschtes Leitermuster auf einen Untergrund im Posiiivdruckverfahren aufbringen kann.
Vorzugsweise eignet sich hierfür das Siebdruckverfahren. Als Basisplatten eignen sich solche auf Basis von
Kunststoffen, wie z. B. Phenoiharzpapier. Epoxidglas, flexible Thermoplaste, und von Keramikmaterial.
Die Trocknung des aufgetragenen Lackes kann durch langzeitiges Trocknen bei Raumtemperatur (20° C) oder
durch Erhitzen bis auf etwa 4000C erfolgen.
Hierzu eignen sich die üblichen Geräte, wie zum Beispiel Heißluftöfen und Strahllampen.
Für die Verstärkung der gebildeten Metallkeimschicht mit einer Schichtdicke von etwa 0,03 μη kann
schließlich ein übliches metallabscheidendes Reduktionsbad verwendet werden, das den Aufbau von
Schichtdicken bis zu 50 μιη erlaubt.

In folgenden wird die Herstellung und Anwendung
des erfindungsgemäßen Lackes an Hand von Beispielen näher beschrieben.
Der ph-Wert wird mit 30%-iger NaOH-Lösung auf 12,5 gebracht.
Die Anwendung dieses Lacks erfolgt wie im Beispiel 1 beschrieben.

Mit NaOH-Lösung wird der pH-Wert auf 12,8 gebracht.
Der katalytischc Lack wird in eine Siebdruckmaschine gefüllt und durch das in einem Sieb festgelegte Muster
auf eine Kunststoffplatte gedruckt. Anschließend brennt man 7 Minuten bei 2000C ein. Hierbei werden
die Kupferionen zu Kupfer reduziert und gleichzeitig eine haftfeste Verbindung zwischen Lack und Kunststoffoberfläche
hergestellt. Die so behandelte Platte wird in ein chemisches Kupferbad eingetaucht und auf
eine Kupferschichtdicke von 30 bis 50 μηι verstärkt. Schließlich spült und trocknet man die Platte. Sie kann
jetzt mit Bauteilen bestückt werden.

Claims (5)
1. Katalytischer Lack zur Herstellung von gedruckten Schaltungen unter Verwendung von Basismaterialien
und Metallaticheidungsverfahren, enthaltend ein Bindemittel auf Basis von Kunst- oder
Naturstoffen, Wasser, ein Metallsalz, einen Komplexbildner und ein Reduktionsmittel, dadurch
gekennzeichnet, daß dieser als Bindemittel in Wasser lösliche oder dispergierbare Acrylverbindungen.
Stärke oder Stärkeverbindungen, Cellulose oder ihre Derivate, als Metallsalz ein wasserlösliches
Kupfersalz, als Komplexbildner Äihylendiarnintetraessigsäurc
und als Reduktionsmittel Formaldehyd enthält.
2. Katalytischer Lack nach Anspruch I, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß dieser ein organisches Lösungsmittel
oder Lösungsmittelgemisch, vorzugsweise Methylenehlorid. enthält.
3. Katalytischer Lack nach Anspruch 1. dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß dieser ein Füllmittel, vorzugsweise
kolloidale Kieselsäure, Bentonite, Kreide. Bariumsulfat oder Titandioxid, enthält.
4. Katalytischer Lack nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß dieser einen Stabilisator, vorzugsweise
eine schwefel- oder selenhaltige Verbindung, enthält.
5. Verwendung eines katalytischen Lackes nach Ansprüchen 1 bis 4 zur Herstellung von gedruckten
Schaltungen, wobei dieser auf die Basismaterialien, vorzugsweise mittels Siebdruck, aufgebracht und
anschließend getrocknet und anschließend durch Einwirkung eines metallabscheidenden Reduktionsbades verstärkt wird.
b. Verwendung nach Anspruch 5. wobei die Trocknung bei Temperaturen von 20 bis 400"C
durchgeführt wird.
