Herstellung und ihre Verwendung als Herbizide
Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft neue (Trifluormethylphenoxy
)-phenylharnstoffe, mehrere Verfahren zu ihrer Herstellung sowie ihre Verwendung als Herbizide.
Es ist bereits bekannt geworden, daß man Ν,Ν-Dimethyl-N1-
/_A— (4-chlorphenoxy)-phenyl7-harnstoff (vergleiche Deutsche
Auslegeschrift 1 142 251) .zur Unkrautbekämpfung verwenden kann. Diese Verbindung ist jedoch, insbesondere bei niedrigen
Aufwandmengen und —konzentrationen, nicht gegen alle Unkräuter wirksam, z.B. ist sie wenig wirksam gegen Monokotyledoneae,
wie beispielsweise Poa und Digitaria.
Es wurde nun gefunden, daß die neuen (Trifluormethylphenoxy)-pheny!harnstoffe
der Formel

für null oder eine ganze Zahl von 1 bis stehen, wobei für den FaIl, daß die Trifluormethylgruppe

starke herbizide Eigenschaften aufweisen.
Weiterhin wurde gefunden, daß man die (Tr if luorme thy 1-phenoxy)-phenylharnstoffe
der Formel (i) erhält, wenn man
(a) (Trifluormethy!phenoxy)-aniline der Formel

in welcher η und m die oben angegebene Bedeutung haben,
mit Phosgen und anschließend, gegebenenfalls ohne zwischenzeitliche
Isolierung der entstehenden Isocyanate, mit Amimen der Formel

in Gegenwart eines Lösungsmittels umsetzt; weiterhin werden
(c) diejenigen Verbindungen der Formel (I) erhalten, in welcher R nur für Wasserstoff steht, wenn man (Trifluormethylphenoxy)-aniline
der Formel (II) mit Methylisocyanat der Formel

Überraschenderweise zeigen die erfindungsgemäßen (Trifluormethylphenoxy)-phenylharnstoffe
eine erheblich höhere herbizide wirkung als die nächstliegende aus dem Stand der Technik
vorbekannte Verbindung, der N,N-Dimethyl-Nt-/4-(4-chlorphenoxy)-phenyl7-narns"t°i;f
· ^e erfindungsgemäßen Verbindungen
sind deutlich besser wirksam gegen Ungräser, z.B. Poa annua und Digitaria spec, außerdem ist ihre gute Verträglichkeit,
vor allem in Möhren, hervorzuheben. Die erfindungsgemäßen Stoffe stellen somit eine Bereicherung der Technik
dar.
Verwendet man nach Verfahren (a) 4-(3-Trifluormethyl-4-chlorphenoxy)-anilin,
Phosgen und Monomethylamin, nach Verfahren (b) 4-(4-Trifluormethyl-phenoxy)-anilin und N,1T-Dimethylcarbamidsäurechlorid
und nach Verfahren (c) 4-(2-Trifluormethyl-4-chlor-phenoxy)-anilin
und Methylisocyanat als

Die als Ausgangsstoffe für die Reaktionen (a), (b) bzw. (c) verwendbaren (Trifluormethyl-phenoxy)-aniline sind durch die
allgemeine Formel (II) definiert. In dieser Formel stehen vorzugsweise η für null, die Zahl eins oder zwei und m für
null oder die Zahl eins. Die (Trifluormethyl-phenoxy)-aniline
sind neu, können aber nach allgemein üblichen Methoden, die in der Literatur beschrieben sind, dargestellt werden, z.B.
aus substituierten Aminophenolen mit Trifluormethy1-halogenbenzolen
(auf die ausführlichen Angaben hierzu bei den Herstellungsbeispielen sei verwiesen).
Die als Ausgangsmaterialien für die Reaktion (a) verwendbaren Amine sind durch die allgemeine Formel (III) definiert. In
dieser Formel steht R vorzugsweise für Wasserstoff oder Methyl: Das für das Verfahren (a) benötigte Phosgen und die

Amine sind literaturbekannt und nach allgemein üblichen Methoden auch im technischen Maßstab herstellbar.
Das weiterhin als Ausgangsstoff für das Verfahren gemäß Reaktion (b) zu verwendende !!,li-Dimethylcarbamidsäurechlorid
und das gemäß Reaktion (c) zu verwendende Methylisocyanat
sind durch die Formeln (IV) bzw. (V) allgemein definiert, und beide Ausgangsstoffe sind literaturbekannt und- nach
allgemein üblichen Methoden darstellbar.
Alle drei Herstellungsverfahren (a), (b) und (c) werden bevorzugt
unter Mitverwendung geeigneter Lösungs- oder Verdünnungsmittel durchgeführt.
Als solche kommen praktisch alle inerten organischen Solventien infrage. Hierzu gehören insbesondere aliphatische und
aromatische, gegebenenfalls chlorierte Kohlenwasserstoffe, wie Benzol, Toluol, Xylol, Benzin, Methylenchlorid, Chloroform,
Tetrachlorkohlenstoff, Ohlorbenzol, oder Äther, z.B. Diäthyl- und Dibutyläther, Dioxan, ferner Ketone, beispielsweise
Aceton, Methyläthyl-, Methylisopropyl- und Methylisobutylketon,
außerdem Nitrile, wie Aceto- und Propionitril, auch Amine, wie Pyridin.
Als Säureakzeptoren können bei dem Verfahren (b) alle üblichen SäureMndemittel Verwendung finden. Besonders be
währt haben sich Alkalicarbonate und -alkoholate, wie Natrium- und Kaliumcarbonat, ferner aliphatische, aromatische
oder heterocyclische tertiäre Amine, beispielsweise Triäthylamin, Dimethylanilin, Dimethylbenzylamin und Pyridin.

Die Reaktionstemperatur kann innerhalb eines größeren Bereiches variiert werden. Im allgemeinen arbeitet man zwischen
-10 und 1500O, vorzugsweise bei dem Verfahren (a) bei -5 bis
13O0G, bei dem Verfahren (b) bei 0 bis 8O0G und bei dem
Verfahren (c) bei 0 bis 4O0G.
Zur Durchführung des Verfahrens (a) setzt man das Phosgen und das Amin im allgemeinen im Überschuß ein. Um überschüssiges
Phosgen nach der Reaktion zu entfernen, wird Stickstoff über die Reaktionsmischung geleitet, dann das Amin zugetropft
und nach laboratoriumsüblicher Weise das Reaktionsgemisch aufgearbeitet. Zur Durchführung des Verfahrens (b) setzt man
das N, U-Dimethylcarbamid säure chlor id meist bis zu 40 <$>
im Überschuß ein und auch beim. Verfahren (c) wird das Methylisocyanat
bis zu 30 $ im Überschuß eingesetzt. Bei beiden
Verfahren erfolgt die Aufarbeitung nach laboratoriumsüblichen Methoden.
Die erfindungsgemäßen Wirkstoffe der Formel (I) weisen eine
sehr gute herbizide Wirksamkeit auf und können deshalb zur Bekämpfung von Unkraut verwendet werden.
Unter Unkraut im weitesten Sinne sind alle Pflanzen zu verstehen, die an Orten aufwachsen, wo sie unerwünscht sind.
Als Unkräuter kommen insbesondere in Frage: Dikotyle wie
Senf (Sinapis), Kresse (Lepidium), Klettenlabkraut (Galium),
Vogelmiere (Stellaria), Kamille (Matrioaria), Franzosenkraut (Galinsoga), Gänsefuß (Chenopodium), Brennessel (Urtica),
Knöterich (Polygonum), Kreuzkraut (Senecio), Rauhhaar-Amaranth
(Amaranthus retroflexus); Monokotyle wie Liesch-

gras (Phleum), Rispengras (Poa), Schwingel (Festuca), Eleusine
(Eleusine), Fennich (Setaria), Raygras (Lolium), Trespe (Bromus), Hühnerhirse (Echinochloa), Windhafer (Avena fatua),
Fuchsschwanzgras (Alopecurus), Sorghum (Sorghum halepense). .
Einige der erfindungsgemäßen Wirkstoffe eignen sich besonders zur selektiven Unkrautbekämpfung, z.B. in Möhren.
Die erfindungsgemäßen Wirkstoffe können in die üblichen Formulierungen
übergeführt werden, wie Lösungen, Emulsionen, Suspensionen, Pulver, Pasten und Granulate. Diese werden in
bekannter Weise hergestellt, z.B. durch Vermischen der Wirkstoffe mit Streckmitteln, also flüssigen Lösungsmitteln, unter
Druck stehenden verflüssigten Gasen und/oder festen Trägerstoffen,
gegebenenfalls unter Verwendung von oberflächenaktiven Mitteln, also Emulgiermitteln und/oder Dispergiermitteln
und/oder schaumerzeugenden Mitteln. Im Falle der Benutzung von Wasser als Streckmittel können z.B. auch organische
Lösungsmittel als Hilfslösungsmittel verwendet werden. Als flüssige Lösungsmittel kommen im wesentlichen in
irage: Aromaten, wie Xylol, Toluol, Benzol oder Alkylnaphthaline, chlorierte Aromaten oder chlorierte aliphatische
Kohlenwasserstoffe, wie öhlorbenzole, Ghloräthylene oder Methylenchlorid, aliphatische Kohlenwasserstoffe, wie Gyclohexan
oder Paraffine, z.B. Erdölfraktionen, Alkohole, wie Butanol oder Glycol sowie deren Äther und Ester, Ketone, wie
Aceton, Methyläthylketon, Methylisobutylketon oder Cyclohexanon,
stark polare Lösungsmittel, wie Dimethylformamid und Dirnethylsulfoxid, sowie Wasserj mit verflüssigten
gasförmigen Streckmitteln oder Trägerstoffen sind solche Flüssigkeiten gemeint, welche bei normaler Temperatur und
unter Normaldruck gasförmig sind, z.B. Aerosol-Treibgase,

wie Halogenkohlenwasserstoffe, z.B. Preonj als feste Trägerstoffe:
natürliche Gesteinsmehle, wie Kaoline, Tonerden, Talkum, Kreide, Quarz, Attapulgit, Montmorillonit und
Diatomeenerde, und synthetische Gesteinsmehle, wie hochdisperse Kieselsäure, Aluminiumoxid und Silikate; als Emulgier-
und/oder schaumerzeugende Mittel: nichtionogene und anionische Emulgatoren, wie Polyoxyäthylen-Fettsäureester,
Polyoxyäthylen-Iettalkohol-äther, z.B. Alkylarylpolyglykoläther,
Alkylsulfonate, Alkylsulfate, Arylsulfonate sowie
Eiweißhydrolysate} als Dispergiermittel: z.B. Lignin, Sulfitablaugen und Methylcellulose.
Die erfindungsgemäßen Wirkstoffe können in den Formulierungen in Mischung mit anderen bekannten Wirkstoffen vorliegen.
Die Formulierungen enthalten im allgemeinen zwischen 0,1 und
95 Gewichtsprozent Wirkstoff, vorzugsweise zwischen 0,5 und 90 /o.
Die Wirkstoffe können al3 solche oder in Form ihrer Forrnu.
lierungen oder der daraus bereiteten Anwendungsformen, wie
gebrauchsfertige Lösungen, Emulsionen, Suspensionen, Pulver, Pasten und Granulate angewendet werden. Die Anwendung
geschieht in üblicher Weise, z.B. durch. Spritzen, Sprühen, Stäuben, Streuen und Gießen.
Die erfindungsgemäßen Wirkstoffe können sowohl im pre- als auch post—emergence-Verfahren angewandt werden. Die Anwendung
geschieht vorzugsweise im post-emergence-Verfahren.

Die eingesetzte Wirkstoffmenge kann in größeren Bereichen variiert werden. Sie hängt im wesentlichen von der Art des
gewünschten Effektes ab. Im allgemeinen liegen die Aufwandmengen zwischen 0,1 uhd 25 kg/ha, vorzugsweise zwischen 0,3
und 10 kg/ha.
Die erfindungsgemäßen Wirkstoffe weisen zum Teil auch eine fungizide Wirksamkeit auf. Sie wirken insbesondere'gegen
Rostkrankheiten; so ist beispielsweise eine protektive Sproßbehandlung

Lösungsmittel: 5 Gewichtsteile Aceton Emulgator: 1 Gewichtsteil Alkylarylpolyglykoläther
Zur Herstellung einer zweckmäßigen Wirkstoffzubereitung vermischt
man 1 Gewichtsteil Wirkstoff mit der angegebenen Menge Lösungsmittel, gibt die angegebene Menge Emulgator zu
und verdünnt das Konzentrat mit Wasser auf die gewünschte Konzentration.
Mit der Wirkstoffzubereitung spritzt man Testpflanzen, welche
eine Höhe von 5 - 15 cm haben so, daß die in der Tabelle
angegebenen Wirkstoffmengen pro Flächeneinheit ausgebracht werden.
Je nach Konzentration der Spritzbrühe liegt die Wasseraufwandmenge
zwischen 1000 und 2000 l/ha. Nach drei Wochen
wird der Schädigungsgrad der Pflanzen bonitiert in $ Schädigung im Vergleich zur Entwicklung der unbehandelten Kontrolle,

In 20,1 g (0,07 Mol) 3-0hlor-4-(3-trifluormethyl-phenoxy)-anilin, gelöst in 200 ml Chlorbenzol, leitet man bei -50C
1 Stunde Phosgen ein. Dann wird die Reaktionsmischung langsam erwärmt und die Einleitung von Phosgen bei 12O0C wiederholt,
bis das Reaktionsgemisch eine klare Lösung ist. Anschließend wird eine halbe Stunde Stickstoff übergeleitet,
um Phosgenreste zu entfernen} dann wird bei O0C so lange
Dimethylamin eingeleitet, bis das Reaktionsgemisch eine basische Reaktion zeigt. Nach einer Stunde Rühren bei Raumtemperatur
wird der größte Teil des Chlorbenzols abdestilliert, der Rückstand aus wenig Acetonitril umkristallisiert.
Man erhält 16 g (65 $ der Theorie) N,N-Dimethyl-lil-/3-chlor-4_(3_trifluormethyl-phenoxy)-phenyl7-harnstoff
in Form weißer Kristalle mit dem Schmelzpunkt 166 C.
Analog Beispiel 1 werden die folgenden Verbindungen nach dem Herstellungsverfahren (a) erhalten:

Dimethylcarbamidsäurechlorid. Es wird eine halbe Stunde auf
70 bis 75°C erwärmt, das Pyridin zum größten Teil im Vakuum abgezogen, der Rückstand auf Wasser gegossen und mit verdünnter
Salzsäure angesäuert. Der Niederschlag wird abfiltriert, getrocknet und aus Toluol umkristallisiert. Man erhält
29 g (89 £ der Theorie) N,N-Dimethyl-Nf-Z4-(2-0hlor-4-trifluormethylphenoxy)phenyl7-harnstoff
als rosa Kristalle mit dem Schmelzpunkt 140 C.

18,7 g (0,06 Mol) 3-Clilor-4-(3-trif luorme thylphenoxy)-anilin
werden in 100 ml Acetonitril gelöst und bei 100C mit 3 Tropfen Triäthylamin und 4,3 g (0,078 Mol) Methylisocyanat
versetzt. Es wird 4 Stunden bei Raumtemperatur nachgerührt, dann auf Wasser gegossen und nach dem Durchkristallisieren
der Reaktionsmischung wird der Feststoff abgesaugt und aus Toluol umkristallisiert. Man erhält 6 g (29 $ der Theorie)
N-Me thy1-N *-/^-chlor-4-(3-trifluormethylphenoxy)-pheny \J-harnstoff
mit dem Schmelzpunkt 16O0C.
Analog Beispiel 10 werden die folgenden Verbindungen nach der Herstellungsmethode (c) erhalten:

Zu 54,5 g (ο,5 Mol) 4—Aminophenol in 35o ml Dimethylsulfoxid
gelöst, gibt man 32,5 g Kaliumhydroxidplätzchen in 3o ml Wasser und destilliert im Vakuum bei 15-2o Torr etwa 15o ml eines
Wasser/Dimethylsulfoxid-Gemisches ab. Dann gibt man bei etwa 7o-8o°C 125 g (o,5 Mol) l-Irifluormethyl-3,4,5-trichlorbenzol
\j&° : I,5öo8 = 67-68$ der Theorie^' vergleiche J.Am.Chem.Soc.
57, 2o66-2o68 (1935) und US-Patentschrift 2.654.78£/ der Reaktionsmischung
und rührt 2 Stunden bei 12o-13o°C nach. Die Substanz wird mit Wasser ausgefällt, abgesaugt, mit Wasser
gewaschen und- feucht aus einem Aethanol/Wasser-G-emisch umkristallisiert
und' so 4o-5o?o der Theorie'.an 4-(2,6-Dichlor-4-trifluormethylphenoxy)-anilin
mit dem Schmelzpunkt 128-13o°C erhalten.
Analog werden die folgenden Vorprodukte hergestellt:

Claims (6)
- 2A11320Patentansprüche(Trifluormethylphenoxy)-phenylharnstoffe der Formel(Din welcherH für Wasserstoff oder Methyl steht, undη und m gleich oder verschieden sein können undfür null oder eine ganze Zahl von 1 bis stehen, wobei für den Fall, daß die Trifluormethylgruppe in 3-Steilung steht, nur η oder m gleich null sein darf.
- 2. Verfahren zur Herstellung von (Trifluormethylphenoxy)-pheny!harnstoffen, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man(a) (Trifluormethylphenoxy)-ahiline der Formel(II)IeA 1$ 515 - 20 -509838/0999in welcherη und m die oben angegebene Bedeutung haben,mit Phosgen und anschließend, gegebenenfalls ohne zwischen zeitliche Isolierung der entstehenden Isocyanate, mit Aminen der FormelHIT 5 (III)in welcherE die oben angegebene Bedeutung hat,gegebenenfalls in Gegenwart eines Lösungsmittels umsetzt}
oder daß man(b) zur Herstellung solcher Verbindungen der Formel (i),in welcher E nur für Methyl steht, (Trifluormethylphenoxy)-aniline der Formel (il) mit NjlT-Dimethyl-carbamidsäurechlorid der FormelGl-CO-IT(CH3) (IT)gegebenenfalls in Gegenwart eines Säureakzeptors und gegebenenfalls in Gegenwart eines Lösungsmittels umsetzt; oder daß man(c) zur Herstellung solcher Verbindungen der Formel (I),in welcher E nur für Wasserstoff steht, (Trifluormethylphenoxy)· aniline der Formel (II) mit Methylisocyanat der FormelLe A 15 515 ' - 21 -509838/09993 (V)gegebenenfalls in Gegenwart eines Lösungsmittels umsetzt. - 3. Herbizides Mittel, gekennzeichnet durch einen Gehaltan (Trifluormethylphenoxy)-pheny!harnstoffen gemäß Anspruch 1,
- 4. Verfahren zur Bekämpfung von unerwünschtem Pflanzenwachstum, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man (Trifluormethylphenoxy)-phenylharnstoffe gemäß Anspruch 1 auf die unerwünschten Pflanzen oder ihren Lebensraum einwirken läßt.
- 5. Verwendung von (Trifluormethylphenoxy)-pheny!harnstoffen gemäß Anspruch Ί zur Bekämpfung von unerwünschtem Pflanzenwachstum.
- 6. Verfahren zur Herstellung von herbiziden Mitteln, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man (Trifluormethylphenoxy)-phenylharnstoffe gemäß Anspruch 1 mit Streckmitteln und/oder oberflächenaktiven Mitteln vermischt.Le A 15 575 - 22 -509838/0999
