发明领域
本发明涉及光纤连接器技术,特别是涉及一种插座如适配器之类,用于在适配器一端或两端接纳光纤连接器。
发明背景
已经采用各种各样的光纤连接器来端接光缆和有助于光缆与其他电缆或其他光纤传送装置的连接。一般的光纤连接器包括包头套圈,它将一根光纤或几根光纤安装和定中心在连接器内。金属包头可以由这样的材料如陶瓷制成。包头套圈夹持器或连接器的其他壳体部件环绕该包头套圈,它们可由模压塑料这样的材料制成。弹簧可以放置在壳体或包头套圈夹持器内,使包头套圈可屈服地向前偏置,以便与匹配连接装置中另一个安装在纤维上的包头套圈啮合。
一对光纤连接器或者一个连接器与另一个光纤传送装置常常配对啮合在适配器中,适配器使纤维定中以便使***损失降低。适配器与连接器连接在一起,使得它们包封的光纤终端对终端连接。适配器可以是在线部件,或者可以设计适配器安装在控制板,底板,线路板或类似板的开口中。
当在光纤连接器中端接光纤对电气连接器中端接导电体时,及当露出“有源”光纤连接器的光纤端的情况时会遇到各种问题。一种典型的情况是当在适配器一端的一个光纤连接器拆下时,在适配器中留下另一个“有源”光纤连接器。
特别是,露出的光纤端可能受到有害的环境事故的伤害,灰尘的累积会削弱光纤的光传送能力。另一个重要的问题是保护操作者的眼睛免受从有源光纤露出端射出的有害光束的损害。例如操作者的眼睛可能受到从没有保护的插座或适配器射出的有害光束的伤害。
至今已经使用灰尘盖、终端帽或弹簧负荷的开闭器来关闭适配器的开口端,以便盖住露出的光纤端来保护光纤端免受有害的环境事故的影响和防止光能从光纤端射出适配器。一个这样的弹簧加载的开闭器可转动地安装适配器上邻近它的开口端并且能可转动地打开或闭合该开口端。开闭器部件当其闭合时伸展跨过连接器/适配器装置的光轴。开闭器部件可以转动离开该光轴到它的打开状态。
如上所述的这样可转动地安装的开闭器可以安装在或者在适配器内侧或者在适配器外侧。因为它们装配到适配器壳体内是极其困难所以内侧的开闭器造成各种问题。要记住光纤连接器、适配器、和类似器件都是非常小的装置。外侧的开闭器也造成各种问题,因为当同时企图将连接器***到适配器内时,它们很难打开和操作。在某些情况下需要2只手来打开开闭器同时又抓着适配器,几乎不可能人工操作***连接器。本发明旨在在于解决这些问题,特别是提供一种独特的外侧开闭器,它可以转到这样的程度,只用操作者的一只手可以将它夹住和保持在对适配器壳体打开的状态。
发明概要
因此,本发明的目的是提供一种新的改进的插座用于沿光轴接纳光纤连接器。
为此,本发明提供一种用于沿光轴接纳光纤连接器的插座,包括:有前面开口端和外壁的壳体,开口端用于沿所述光轴上接纳***到其中的光纤连接器,外壁从开口端向后伸展;和可转动地安装在壳体上邻近所述开口端的开闭器部件,它可转动地关闭和打开所述开口端,当开闭器部件闭合时该开闭器部件伸展跨过光轴,并且开闭器部件可转动地离开光轴到与所述向后伸展的外壁并置的位置。
在示范性实施方案中,开闭器部件可转动约270度从它的闭合位置到它的打开位置。
如这里公开的那样,插座的尺寸和形状适合抓握在操作者的大姆指与食指之间,使开闭器部件压在壳体向后伸展的外壁上。开闭器部件一般成矩形,大体上是平的。壳体前面的开口端一般成矩形,向后伸展的外壁大体上是平的。开闭器部件可转动地安装在壳体上并在一般呈矩形的开口端的一条边缘上。

优选实施方案的详细描述

按照这种理解,适配器壳体12其横剖面一般为矩形,包括在连接点16粘合在一起的两部分12a和12b,从而使壳体是单元结构。如图2中清楚可见,两部分壳体有紧挨着的内部横壁18和对齐的内部圆筒形夹持器20,中心体接纳一对光纤连接器的突出的包头套圈,从而使包封的纤维沿着光轴22终端对终端连接。单元壳体确定前面开口端24用于接纳在箭头“A”方向上的第一光纤连接器,和在后端面28中的后面开口端26(图2)用于接纳在箭头“B”方向上的第二或配对光纤连接器。在壳体12上可以装设有一对侧面的可弯曲的锁闩臂32的金属锁闩部件30,用于将该适配器安装到控制板或类似板的开口中。
如上所述,适配器10是双终端插座用于两对配对的光纤连接器互相连接。换句话说,如在图3-5中清楚可见,壳体12的前面34有一对前面开口端24,它们露出一对伸展通过壳体的通道36和该开口端可被开闭器部件14闭合。每个通道36有横壁18和圆筒形夹持器20,如上面关于图2所述。
每个开闭器部件14包括一对有孔的夹持器38,它与壳体12前面开口端顶部边缘上的有孔夹持器40对齐。枢轴杆42分别穿过开闭器部件和壳体的对齐的有孔夹持器38和40,从而使开闭器部件可以可转动地关闭和打开壳体的开口端。图1表示两个开闭器部件在它们的关闭位置因此开闭器部件伸展跨过光轴22(图2)。一对螺旋弹簧卷在枢轴杆42周围,它包括与壳体顶壁46啮合的第一端44和与开闭器部件14啮合的相反端48。如图1所示弹簧偏压开闭器部件朝向它们的闭合位置。壳体的顶壁46组成从壳体的前面开口端24向后伸展的外壁。顶壁一般是平的,而每个开闭器部件一般也是平的。

Claims (9)
1.一种用于沿光轴(22)接纳光纤连接器的插座,包括:
有前面开口端(24)和外壁(46)的壳体(12),开口端用于沿所述光轴(22)上接纳***到其中的光纤连接器,外壁从开口端(24)向后伸展;和
可转动地安装在壳体(12)上邻近所述开口端(24)的开闭器部件(14),它可转动地关闭和打开所述开口端,当开闭器部件闭合时该开闭器部件伸展跨过光轴(22),并且开闭器部件可转动地离开光轴到与所述向后伸展的外壁(46)并置的位置。
