现代车辆通常配备有若干信息和警告***，适于向驾驶员通知事故或事件。信息***适于向驾驶员给出紧要的以及不重要的信息，而警告***适于在正在发生或将要发生特定事件时向驾驶员给出警示以便避免事故。信息***包括仪表组、无线电显示、导航***和其它***。警告***包括盲点检测、倒车警告、停车辅助、道线检测及其它。信息***和警告***可使用相同或不同显示单元，诸如观看屏幕和/或警告灯。
由不同***给出不同信息和警示的一个问题是，它们并不总是按照信息和警示的重要性而区分优先次序的。因此驾驶员很难注意或评估给出的所有信息和警示。对于由通常用于正常信息的显示装置所给出的警示，尤其如此。
US 2010265731涉及一种簇状织物，包括光源，其被配置为至少部分地通过簇状织物来辐射来自光源的光，该簇状织物可以是地毯。

电流光子织物基于将诸如LED的标准部件与织物内的传导纱线集成或者发展具有纤维形因素的光电器件，诸如发光聚合物涂覆纤维、表面或侧面发射纤维、或者涂覆有热铬墨水的纱线，其能够直接集成到织物结构中。
与通常在织物中使用的LED相比，OLED的优点在于，更大表面积上的单色光的发射。此外，设计者的反馈表明，OLED启用的光子***在审美上比必须由额外织物光学扩散层覆盖的基于LED的改善织物更加令人愉悦。与诸如由发光、热铬或光纤维制成的织物的其它基于纤维的光子***相比，OLED具有更高的光强度。最后，OLED还重量轻，具有平坦形状因素，并且如果在聚合物箔衬底上制造的话可以是柔软的。
通过在车辆地板上使用智能织物，可以通过智能织物来向驾驶员显示信息。在图1中，地垫8包括适于在出现特定事件时显示特定彩色的智能织物。在这个示例中，信息在完整地垫表面上被显示为特定彩色9。
