It is known to cut decorative fabric with their covering documents, eg. B. to connect furniture, especially seating, by steel clips that are shot through the fabric into the base by means of clip guns.
In order to cover the otherwise visually disturbing fastening clips in the connection area of a decorative profile blank or two adjoining decorative fabric blanks with the underlay, it is customary to carry out a so-called blind stapling or double stapling, whereby the fabric web has previously been divided and sewn together again.
This results in a high expenditure of work and materials.
In addition, such stitching cannot be carried out with the degree of accuracy desired with regard to patterned decorative fabrics, unless the covering underlay is milled in by an additional, cost-increasing operation and the milled groove specifies the position of the seam or stitching on the underlay.
The invention is based on the object of creating a fastening device for connecting decorative fabric blanks with a covering underlay, in particular furniture or wall coverings, the use of which can significantly reduce the amount of material and work involved and a non-slip, precise positioning of the fabric on its underlay can be achieved.
According to the invention, this is achieved essentially in that the fastening device consists of a one-piece extruded plastic profile strip with a cross-sectional shape in the basic shape of a double-T profile, the middle web of which is used together with the fabric cut or pieces for attaching to the covering underlay and for a Closing movement of the T-legs to be turned away from the covering pad can be deformed relative to one another in order to accommodate a partial area of the fabric cut or pieces between these T-legs when it is attached to the covering pad.
The for covering the pad, z. B. the backrest of a chair, the required cut of fabric or two adjacent cut pieces of fabric, if necessary with the desired pattern, are pressed from the outside by means of the mouth of a staple gun between the T-legs of the plastic profile strip facing away from the covering pad against the middle web of the double-T profile and together with this attached to the base by steel clips. The middle web of the profile is pressed against the base by the back of the clamps, whereby it is deformed approximately in a V-shape and the T-legs facing away from the base are moved towards one another, taking up a portion of the fabric cut or pieces between them, so that the T-legs then cover the back of the clamps and exert a desired tension on the fabric.
In this way, an imitation seam covering the clamps is produced with little effort. Thanks to the fastening device according to the invention, decorative fabrics can thus be simply attached to their base from the outside of the fabric, and yet the fastening clips are always completely covered. This significantly reduces the amount of work that is otherwise required when connecting decorative fabrics with their underlays by dividing, sewing and folding the fabric.
So it is possible by means of this fastening device, for. B. large webs of fabric that, so that they do not slip or shift, require additional fastening, without prior dividing, sewing and folding of the fabric to connect with their base, any course of the imitation seam created is predetermined by the plastic profile strip. Such additional fastenings of the fabric find z. B. on the side and back parts of seating application, in which by using the fastening device according to the invention, the otherwise usual sewing of the so-called warped side seams by hand on the finished seating furniture is omitted, so that production without any sewing is possible.
Of course, when connecting two adjoining fabric blanks, possibly with different decorations, with their underlay, any time-consuming sewing work is dispensed with in the manner described. By attaching the fabric blank or the fabric blanks by means of the fastening device according to the invention on their base, z. B. in the upper part of the backrest of a chair, the fabric blanks on the seating furniture are precisely positioned and centered, so that in the subsequent final attachment of the fabric to the backrest on the hidden underside, z. B. in a conventional manner by shooting in steel clips, and even when the chair is used later, unintentional distortion of the fabric and thus possibly inaccuracies in the pattern are excluded.
Before placing the fabric cut (s) on the plastic profile strip, it can be pre-attached to its base according to the desired imitation seam course by inserting steel clips into the base through one of the two T-leg pairs of the double T-profile.
To achieve a pleasing design of the imitation seam and to avoid stressing the fabric in linear areas, the free ends of the T-legs that are to be turned away from the covering underlay can be rounded. The T-legs are expediently designed symmetrically to the longitudinal center plane of the central web of the double-T profile, so that there is no risk of the plastic profile strip resting on the covering underlay in the wrong direction. To increase their resilience, e.g. B.
When the respective fabric blank is finally tightened and fastened to its base, the T-legs of the double-T-profile can be thickened in the form of a bead opposite its central web. This design of the plastic profile strip also enables the production of frequently desired, fabric-covered piping that has a decorative effect, in that when the fabric is placed on the profile strip, not only steel clips are placed in the middle web of the double-T profile, but also along the outside of a bead-like, thickened pair of T-legs to produce a single welt and along the outer sides of both bead-like, thickened T-leg pairs to produce a double welt through the fabric into the base.
An embodiment has proven to be particularly advantageous in which each pair of T legs of the double-T profile is kidney-shaped with an outside curvature and merges into the middle web in the constriction area on the inside, since the inside constriction area also has space to accommodate the between the T-legs facing away from the covering material creates clamped fabric in the fastening state, so that when the clamps are shot into the middle web of the double-T profile, the deformation of the said T-legs can always be brought into mutual contact, with the fabric being trapped The imitation seam produced does not gap even with thicker fabrics.
To pre-fasten the profile strip on the covering underlay, at least one of the two pairs of T-legs of the double-T profile can be extended on the outside by a flag-shaped extension extending along the profile strip. The flag-shaped approach, which preferably tapers towards its free end, facilitates the pre-fastening of the plastic profile strip, which may be used, to the covering underlay by inserting the otherwise for this purpose through one of the two T-leg pairs of the double T-profile into the covering underlay Steel clips are shot through the free end of the flag-shaped approach into the base. This can be done with the usual upholstery clips, which are also used to attach the fabric.
Independently of a pre-fastening of the profile strip, it can also already be sewn to the fabric or to adjoining fabric blanks in the area of its middle web before it is placed on the covering underlay.
Although a one-sided extension of the double-T profile by means of a flag-shaped approach is sufficient for pre-fastening the profile strip if necessary, both T-leg pairs can each be extended by a flag-shaped approach, with the two flag-shaped approaches symmetrical to the vertical center plane of the double-T Profile are arranged. Depending on requirements, one or the other or both of the flag-shaped approaches can be used for pre-fastening.
Such a configuration of the plastic profile strip can also be used with advantage in the case of parts of the covering underlay that abut at an angle in the corner area, after which the profile strip is pre-attached by means of one of the two flag-shaped attachments when the fabric is placed on the pre-tacked profile strip and pressed into it by shooting of the steel clips through the fabric and the middle web of the double-T profile into the covering pad, both flag-shaped attachments are pressed against the associated part of the covering pad by the attached fabric,
so that the fabric blank is supported on the underside in the entire transition area between the two angularly abutting parts of the covering underlay and there are no gaps between the profile strip and the respectively adjoining part of the covering underlay that would allow the fabric to be pressed in. This results in a visually pleasing, rounded transition between the two parts of the covering underlay.

17, 18, 19 and 20 each show a further exemplary embodiment of a fastening device according to the invention in a diagrammatic representation,
21 and 22 two different stages of the connection of a decorative fabric blank in a corner area of a covering underlay using the fastening device according to FIGS. 19 and
23 and 24 two connection stages corresponding to FIGS. 21 and 22, but using the fastening device according to FIG. 20.
The fastening device shown in FIG. 1 consists of a one-piece extruded plastic profile strip, designated as a whole by 1, which has the basic shape of a double-T profile 2 in cross section. The two pairs of T-legs 3 and 4 of the double-T-profile 2 are thickened in a bead-like manner and kidney-shaped compared to its central web 5, the curvature 6 being on the outside and each pair of T-legs 3, 4 in its inner constriction region 7 in the central web 5 transforms. The T-legs 8 and 9 (Fig. 3) of each T-leg pair 3 and 4 are designed symmetrically to the longitudinal center plane of the central web 5 of the double-T profile 2, so that it does not matter whether the plastic profile strip 1 with the T Legs 8 or the T-legs 9 is placed on a covering pad 10.
The plastic profile strip 1 'according to FIG. 2 differs from the plastic profile strip 1 in that the two T leg pairs 3', 4 'of the double-T profile 2' have an unequal length, seen in the direction transverse to the plane of the middle web 5 ', have.
As a material for the production of the profile strips 1 and 1 'come suitable plastics with the required mechanical strength and deformability or elasticity, eg. B.
Polyethylene or soft polyvinyl chloride into consideration.
In Fig. 3, the profile strip 1 is shown during its pre-connection with the covering underlay 10, the z. B. can be formed by a wooden strip or chipboard. The pre-connection of the profile strip 1 with the base 10 takes place in accordance with the desired course of the attachment of the substance on the base 10 or the imitation seam to be produced with the help of a staple gun 11, which in the drawing compared to the profile strip 1 or 1 'on a reduced scale is reproduced. By means of the clip gun 11, fastening clips 12 are shot through one of the two T-leg pairs 3, 4, as shown in FIG. 3 through the T-leg pair 3, into the covering underlay 10.
The profile strip 1 or 1 'can in this way in a straight or any curved course, as z. B.
4 and 5 by the imitation seam 13 on the side part 14 of an armchair element 15 are connected to the covering pad 10.
The subsequent connection of a fabric blank 16 to the covering underlay 10 by means of the profile strip 1 is illustrated with reference to FIGS. 6 to 10. Fig. 6 shows the profile strip 1 in the state of its pre-attachment to the covering underlay 10 by means of the clamps 12 inserted through the T-leg pair 3. Then the Stofil blank 16 is attached from the outside by means of the tapered mouth 17 of the staple gun 11 between the T-leg pairs 3 and 4 pressed onto the central web 5 and clips 18 are shot through the fabric blank 16 and the web 5 into the base 10. By the backs of the clamps 18, the web 5, which is thin compared to the T-leg pairs 3 and 4, is pressed against the base 10, whereby it is deformed approximately in a V-shape.
As a result, the T-legs 8 of the T-leg pairs 3 and 4 facing away from the base 10 are moved towards one another while accommodating a partial area 19 of the fabric blank 16 between them and clamp the fabric area 19 between them so that an imitation seam 20 is created and the clips 18 are covered .
9 and 10, which otherwise correspond to FIGS. 6 and 8, a layer of foam 21 placed on the covering underlay 10 is shown in which the profile strip 1 is pressed when it is attached to the underlay 10 and which is used to fill the The intermediate space between the base 10 and the profiled blank 16 is used. A single or double welt can be formed in that further clips 18 are shot along the outside curve 6 of the T-legs 9 through the fabric blank 16 and the foam layer 21 into the base 10, whereby the fabric is drawn onto the curve 6.
11 and 12, which correspond to FIGS. 6 and 8 or 9 and 10 with regard to the fastening stages shown, the fastening of two fabric blanks 22 and 23 to the base 10 by means of the profile strip 1 is illustrated. The fastening clips 18 extend through both fabric blanks 22 and 23 in the area of their mutual overlap and the middle web 5 into the base 10.
The deformation of the web 5 and the associated closing movement of the T-legs 8 results in the imitation seam 20 'covering the clips. The constriction area 7 offers space for receiving the clamped sections of the fabric cuts 22 and 23. While the end area 23a of the fabric cutout 23 lies within the cavity formed by means of the mutually moving T-legs 8 and the V-shaped deformed web 5, the end area 22a extends of the fabric blank 22 as shown in FIG. 12 over the outer curvature 6 of the T leg pair 4. By inserting clips along the arch 6 of the T leg 9, a welt thickened due to the doubled number of fabric layers can be produced here.
13 and 14 illustrate the connection of two decorative fabric blanks 22 'and 23' with the base 10 using the profile strip 1 'in the fastening stages according to FIGS. 11 and 12. After the fastening clips 18 have been inserted through the superimposed profile blanks 22' and 23 'and through the middle web 5' of the profile strip 1 'to form the imitation seam 20' with V-shaped deformation of the web 5 ', the fabric blank 22' is turned over according to the arrow 24 shown in FIG.
The folded state of the fabric cut 22 'is shown in FIG. 14, from which it can also be seen that only one layer of the fabric blank 23' rests on the T-leg pair 4 ', while one layer of the fabric blank 23' rests on the T-leg pair 3 '. and nvei layers of the folded-over fabric blank 22 'rest. This difference in the number of layers of fabric lying on top is compensated for by a correspondingly smaller length or height of the pair of T-legs 3 ', so that the fabric blanks 22' and 23 'run at the same height on the outside. On the other hand, the higher pair of T-legs 4 'can be used to form a reinforced piping effect, especially if it contains the increased number of layers of fabric.
15 and 16 show a further type of connection of a decorative fabric blank 25 with a covering underlay, for. B. a schematically shown back part 26 of a chair, by means of the plastic profile strip 1. Here, a first blank 27 is already attached by means of clips 28 on the back part 26 in its upper region. The fabric blank 25 has, for example, a decoration that differs from the fabric blank 27 and is fastened to the back part 26 by means of the profiled strip 1 across the fastening area of the fabric blank 27 defined by the clips 28.
For this purpose, the profile strip 1 is pushed into the envelope formed by a folded-over section 29 of the fabric blank 25, the section 29 also being able to be sewn to the web 5 if necessary. Then, in order to produce an imitation seam 30 by means of the staple gun 11, clamps are inserted in the manner described through the fabric blank 25 resting on the profile strip 1, the web 5, the folded over section 29 of the fabric blank 25 and the section of the fabric blank 27 already fastened by the clamps 28 in the back part 26 is shot in, so that the imitation seam 30 is formed by the deformation of the web 5 or the closing movement of the T legs 8 and the fabric blank 25 covers the fastening clips 28 on the back part
26 is fixed in position.
The final fastening of the fabric blank 25 is then carried out on the lower narrow side of the back part 26, which is not shown in FIGS. 15 and 16, by inserting steel clips which are not visible at this point when the chair is in use and therefore do not require any covering measures. The space between the back part 26 and the fabric blank 25 is filled by a foam layer or the like.
By fixing the fabric blank 25 by means of the clips inserted through the plastic profile strip 1 in the upper end region of the back part 26, undesired warping or slipping of the fabric blank 25 when it is finally attached to the lower narrow side of the back part 26 is definitely avoided.
For better illustration, in the diagrammatic representations of the drawing, the profile blanks have a mutual offset or an offset with respect to the profile strip in its longitudinal direction.
In the exemplary embodiment according to FIG. 17, the pair of T-legs 3 of the double-T profile 2 is extended on the outside by a flag-shaped projection 31 in the manner of a lip or a tab, which extends along the profile strip 1.
The approach 31 starts from the T-leg 9 of the T-leg pair 3 facing the covering pad 10 (FIGS. 21 to 24) and tapers with the formation of a slight curvature on its underside 32 towards its free end, which in a substantially with the free ends of the T legs 9 of the T leg pairs 3, 4 is common plane.
The flag-shaped attachment 31 shown in FIG. 17 can be assigned to the T-leg pair 4 instead of the T-leg pair 3, or both T-leg pairs 3, 4 can each be provided with a flag-shaped attachment 31, as shown in FIG.
In the embodiment according to FIG. 19, a flag-shaped projection 33 extends on both sides of the plastic profile strip 1, which in this example extends from both T-legs
8, 9 of the T-leg pairs 3, 4 go out and their free ends lie in a plane containing the plane of the central web 5. The lugs 33 in turn taper towards their free ends, forming a slight bulge both on their underside 34 and on their upper side 35. In this embodiment, the profile strip 1 is symmetrical to the longitudinal center plane of the central web 5, so that it does not matter whether the profile strip 1 with the T-legs 8 or the T-legs 9 is placed on the covering pad 10.
For a pre-fastening of the profile strip 1 on a covering underlay 10, again only a flag-shaped extension 33 needs to be provided on one longitudinal side of the profile strip 1.
In the embodiment according to FIG. 20, two flag-shaped attachments 36 are provided on both sides of the profile strip 1, the undersides 37 of which are flat. The free ends of the lugs 36 lie in a plane common to the free ends of the T-legs 9 facing the covering underlay 10, the free ends of the T-legs 9 also being flat on the underside. The T-legs 9 are also lengthened on the inside, leaving a gap 38 delimited on the upper side by the central web 5, by lugs 39 directed towards one another, the underside of which is also flat and with the free ends of the T-legs 9 and the lower side 37 of the lugs 36 aligns.
In the example shown, the gap 38 has a dovetail-shaped cross-section. However, starting from the lower edges of the lugs 39 facing each other, it can also be, for. B. have a rectangular cross section with a corresponding shortening of the central web 5.
In Fig. 21, the pre-attachment of a profile strip 1 according to the embodiment of FIG. 19 in the corner area of a covering underlay 10 is illustrated, which consists of two parts 40 and 41 that are adjacent to one another at right angles. For pre-fastening 11 steel clamps 12, z. B. conventional upholstery clips, shot through the free end region of one of the two flag-shaped lugs 33 in the part 41 of the covering underlay 10. Then, as shown in Fig. 22, a fabric blank 16 is pressed from the outside by means of the mouth 17 of the staple gun 11 between the T-leg pairs 3 and 4 on the middle web 5, and clips 18 are through the fabric blank 16 and the web 5 in the Pad 10 shot in.
Due to the backs of the clamps 18, the web 5, which is thin compared to the T-leg pairs 3 and 4, is deformed approximately in a V-shape. As a result, the T-legs 8 of the T-leg pairs 3 and 4 facing away from the base 10 are wedged against one another while accommodating a portion of the fabric cut 16 between them and clamp the recorded fabric area between them, so that the imitation seam is created and the clips 18 are covered. The T-legs 9 and the flag-shaped extensions 33 are pressed against the part 40 or 41 of the covering underlay 10 assigned to them so that the stapled Stofil blank 16 is supported by the profile strip 1 in the entire transition area between the parts 40 and 41 of the covering underlay 10 and has a pleasing course.
23 and 24, the same connection is illustrated using a profile strip 1 according to the Ausführungsbei game of FIG. The flat design of the underside 37 of the flag-shaped attachments 36, including the free ends of the T-legs 9 and the undersides of the attachments 39, results in a full-surface, full contact of the profile strip 1 on the parts 40 and pl of the covering underlay 10.
The uniform contact of the two T-leg pairs 3, 4 with their respective flag-shaped extensions 31, 33 and 36 on part 40 and 41 of the covering underlay 10 results when the clips 18 are inserted in the area of the contact line between the parts 40 and 41 and through a construction of the plastic profile strip 1 with its flag-shaped projections 31, 33 and 36, which is symmetrical to the vertical center plane of the double-T profile 2.
