Process for manufacturing a watch strap and watch strap obtained by this process
The present invention relates to a method of manufacturing a watch strap, as well as to the watch strap obtained by this method.
The method according to the invention is characterized in that on a strip of material and in the vicinity of its center, an H-shaped incision oriented along its longitudinal axis is made, so as to obtain two opposite longitudinal tongues with contiguous free ends, in this that the strip thus prepared is placed on a second strip of the same external profile and joins it there over its entire surface after having separated the abovementioned contiguous ends from one another by pushing back each tab so as to make it form a prominent transverse loop where it is attached to the excess band, the two parallel transverse loops thus obtained being intended to provide passage for the bars joining the horns of a timepiece.
The strip may or may not be profiled on the outside.
The material used will of course be flexible and the same or different for the upper and lower band, leather, synthetic material, canvas, etc.
The bracelet thus obtained will be characterized by two protruding parallel transverse loops each constituted by a fold of one of two tongues facing each other in the axial direction of a strip and held by face-to-face fixing of said strip on a second strip of same exterior profile.
The two bands are attached to each other, for example by cold or hot bonding, by means of an appropriate adhesive, by thermoplastic means, by short waves or by stitching.
The appended drawing shows an embodiment of the object of the invention, given by way of example.
Fig. 1 is a view of the finished bracelet.
Fig. 2 is a partial section through II-II of FIG. 1.
Fig. 3 shows the central part of the upper or outer band of the bracelet, incised to form the two loops.

explaining the formation of a loop.
The finished bracelet, according to fig. 1 and 2, consists of an upper or outer band 1 applied and fixed to a lower band 2 of the same outer profile.
In the present case, this profile has a particular shape in the vicinity of its center, but could differ therefrom, in particular be delimited by two parallel rectilinear edges.
At 3 and 4, the upper band 1 has prominent transverse loops, parallel to each other. Located near the center of the bracelet, where the timepiece will be placed, they are intended to maintain the latter by providing passage to the bars joining the lugs customary to wristwatches.
These loops each form part of a tongue 5 respectively 6 obtained by incision of the upper band 1 and which the attachment of each of them to the lower band maintains in a position suitable for forming the loop.
Fig. 3 shows in detail the shape of this incision.
in H, placed near the center of the strip and in the longitudinal axis of the latter.
The tongues 5 and 6 thus obtained are opposite to each other and contiguous by their free ends at 7.
Fig. 4 shows the tongue 5 thus obtained. By pushing it back in the direction of arrow 8 so as to make it form a transverse fold at the place where it is attached to the strip 1, the loop 3 of FIG. 5, loop which will remain from the moment when the strip 1 with its tongue 5 thus folded will be fixed face to face on the second strip 2 serving as a support for the whole.
Proceeding in the same way, but in the opposite direction, for the opposite tongue 6, we will finally obtain the bracelet described in FIGS. 1 and 2.
With the bracelet thus finished, it is possible to partially hollow out the part included between the loops 3 and 4, for example by cutting an opening therein according to a profile such as that indicated in phantom, at 9 in FIG. 1.
