Nach der Erfindung strömt- die Kühlluft Mänteln für Zylinder und Zylinderdeckel aus einem von einem Gebläse gespeisten Luft- verteilungskasten zu, der auf der Seite der Maschine, wo sich die Ventile und Saug- und Auspuffleitungen befinden, dem Zylinder- deckelmantel und der obern Wand eines die Anschlussstutzen der genannten Leitungen umschliessenden seitlichen Ausbaues desZy- lindermantels entlang erstreckt und mit den Mänteln;
Installation of the of Breunkraftmaschinen by means of air. The invention relates to a device for cooling vertical internal combustion engines in which valves on the cylinder. which are attached to one side, by means of air, especially for cooling motor vehicle machines. The purpose of the invention is primarily those parts
that particularly require cooling, such as the suction and exhaust ports in the immediate vicinity of the valves, to effectively cool.
According to the invention, the cooling air flows to jackets for cylinders and cylinder covers from an air distribution box fed by a fan, which is on the side of the machine where the valves and suction and exhaust lines are located, the cylinder cover jacket and the upper wall of a the lateral extension of the Zy Linder jacket surrounding the connecting pieces of the said lines extends along and with the jackets;
communicates through openings in the side wall of the cover shell and in the top wall of the extension, while the exit of the heated cooling air from the shell takes place on the opposite side of the machine.
In the drawing, as an embodiment of the invention, vertical motor vehicle machines with several cylinders are provided.
Fig. 1 is an elevation; FIG. 2 is a side elevation and FIG. 3 is a plan view of a machine; Fig. 4 and 5 are parts of elevations of a second and third machine; Fig. 6 is a side view machine of Fig. 5
According to FIGS. 1 to 3 , the cylinders 1 are surrounded by a common cooling jacket 3 . give, have a common cover 4 with a common cooling jacket 5. The cylinder walls carry cooling fins 6 and under the jacket 5 of the cover are vertical cooling fins 7 provided transversely to the machine shaft 2.
A blower 8 is attached to one end of the machine, whose shaft 9 is driven by the main shaft 2 by means of belts 10 . The housing 11 of the fan is connected at the outlet end to an air distribution box 12 provided along the jacket 5 of the cover. This box is moved to the side of the machine where the suction and exhaust pipes (not shown) with the valves 15 and their controls are located.
The air distribution box 12 is placed on an extension 25 of the cylinder jacket 3 which surrounds the connecting pieces 13 and 14 of these pipes.
The box 12 is connected to the interior of this extension through openings 16 in the upper wall of the extension 25, which is flush with the joint between the cylinder and the cylinder cover, so that air from the box 12 hits the exhaust pipe 14 directly, brushes along its and suction pipe 13 and thus an effective cooling of this connection pipe, in particular the exhaust pipe. This air also cools the seats of the valves 15 and then flows against the cylinders, since the expansion 25 is in open connection with the cylinder jacket 3 stands.
After cooling has taken place, the cylinder exits this air through openings 17 provided on the other side of the cylinder from the jacket 3 . The cooling fins on the cylinders ensure effective heat dissipation from the Zy relievers. The air distribution box 12 is also in communication with the interior of the jacket 5 of the cylinder cover through openings 18 so that the remainder of the air from the box 12 enters this jacket. Since the jacket 5 has outlet openings 19 on the opposite side, this air flows across the jacket 5 on the ribs 7 along.
In Fig. 4, the upper surface of the construction 25 is deeper than the parting line between the cylinder and cylinder cover, so that a shoulder is formed. Openings 20 are cut out in the vertical wall of this shoulder, which allow the cooling air to pass through from the box 12 directly under the valves 15 and the hottest parts of the connecting pieces 13 14 more effective to cool.
In both of the machines described, the cooling of the cylinders on the side where the valves and the suction and exhaust pipes are located is more effective than on the opposite side. In order to eliminate this disadvantage, according to FIGS. 5 and 6, the housing 11 of the blower is also provided with an air distribution box 21 on this side in connection with the one below Cylinder is arranged so that the mainly lower part of the cylinder is influenced by the air of this box.
The box 21 is connected to the cylinder jacket 3 through lower openings 22 just opposite the spaces between the individual cylinders and through upper openings 23, just opposite the cylinders.
While the cooling air from the box 12, along the ribs 7 across the cover shell 5 and along the ribs 6 through the upper part of the cylinder shell < B> 3 flows and is used in particular to cool the pipes and the valves, cooling air flows from the box 21 partly below into the spaces between the cylinders then upwards until it hits the cooling air from the box 12 and flows with this into the open. The rest of the air from the box 21 flows at the top directly against the sides of the cylinders facing away from the box 12, so that the cylinders are cooled on all sides and in their entire height.
The flow of the cooling air is indicated by arrows in FIG. 5.
