Generator set The invention relates to a particularly advantageous and structurally compact design of a power generating set driven by an internal combustion engine.
The invention consists in that its cooling devices and air intake devices are arranged directly above the generator, and that, freely accessible from above, the intake air filter for the combustion air and on the one side of the unit next to the cooling devices and the air intake devices on the other side of the unit, a lubricating oil filter and a fuel filter are arranged.
There are already mobile, consisting of internal combustion engine and power generator units known in which a liquid cooler, engine and fuel tank are arranged at some distance behind one another and the generator protrudes freely backwards. An essential part of this arrangement is a sta biles, centrally located housing that combines the engine and generator into one structural unit and carries the fuel tank on its top.
With this arrangement, no value is placed on a particularly favorable use of space through compatible construction.
Furthermore, a small transportable Stromer generating unit is known in which the cooler is arranged at some distance above the engine and with its half width protrudes over a larger space existing between the engine and generator. There is a fuel tank above the generator. In contrast to the invention, such an arrangement extends more in the vertical direction and the large space between the motor and generator is only used for the air flow.
Likewise, a more vertical design is shown by a unit that is also already known, in which the cylinder of an upright air-cooled engine is surrounded by a tubular air duct hood.
A flywheel fan arranged on the side of the motor opposite the generator sucks in cooling air through slots in a cap delimiting the air supply pipe at the top, which air brushes along the cooling fins of the motor and is sucked out again in the lower part of the housing of the arrangement; together with the generator cooling air, which a special fan blade sucks through the generator housing. In addition to the air guiding cladding, there is also a fuel tank above the generator, which is directly connected to the engine, and next to this is a control panel with its support.
This arrangement is also very expensive compared to the subject of the application. In addition, the completely encapsulated motor is difficult to access from the outside.
In contrast, the invention allows the unit to be designed preferably as a flat, low, prismatic block which, despite its compact design, is easily accessible from above. This block can be accommodated in a very small space in a vehicle shaft or also stationary in a relatively low recess in the floor.
In the drawing, the invention is shown in an exemplary embodiment from. Figures 1 and 2 show the unit in a schematic diagram in two side views offset from one another by 180, seen somewhat obliquely from above.
As the figures show, the unit consists of a water-cooled diesel engine 1 with a three-phase generator 2 connected to this by a flexible coupling not visible in the drawing. The motor simultaneously drives a motor cooling fan placed in front of a liquid cooler 3 in a housing 4 and the drive wheel of the generator, which is housed in a housing 5, is also provided with fan blades which suck in the generator cooling air for themselves.
On the side of the cooler 3 opposite the fan housing 4, an intake air throat 6 open at the top is arranged behind it, with a cross section that tapers downwards.
The upper edge of the Luftuzen- side walls is double-walled and bil det separated from the cooling air intake opening 7 air intake slots 8, 8 for the generator cooling air for itself, which through lateral air lines 9,
9 are connected to the generator fan housing 5. The heated air flowing out from the generator is also fed to the air intake hood through a central line 10.
The intake air filter 11 is arranged on one side of the unit, in the space between the radiator 3 and the engine, or between its intake pipe 12 and an air intake pipe section 13 that also leads to the air hood. With 14 (Fig. 1) the starter located on the same side and with 15 a crankcase breather are designated.
As a muffler and muffler a known flat pot muffler 16 (Fig. 2) is easily seen. This is directly flanged to the exhaust duct openings of the engine on the unit side opposite the air filter and its exhaust gas collecting pipe 17 is perpendicularly upwards at some distance from its connection point.
The fuel filter 18 is located at the rear end of the unit in the area of a corner space not claimed by the silencer 16 , 20 arranged.
On the side of the cooler 3 opposite the air scoop 6, a cable connection collecting box 22 for the electrical display instruments is provided in addition to its filler neck 21.
A second cable junction box 22a for the other electrical devices is located between the rectifier housings 20. The individual cable and pipeline guides of the unit have been omitted from the figures for the sake of clarity and as being unimportant for the idea of the invention.
The entire unit is surrounded by a housing 3 that can be lifted off or locked by a cover, which is indicated in FIGS. 1 and 2 with broken lines.
The housing 23 has the shape of a prismatic body and encloses the unit with the smallest possible distance, with the effect that it still holds the air sucked in by the generator and cooling fan together on the unit after flowing past the generator and flowing through the water cooler Air also cools the other components of the unit. A special vertical air duct 24 is separated from the housing interior by intermediate walls 23a, 23b and 23c,
to which the air flowing through the entire unit flows in from below and from where it is withdrawn upwards, past the exhaust pipe connector 17. As a result, there is also an exchange of heat between the air and the hot exhaust pipe 17, so that the exhaust gases flowing out are also cooled.
The mode of operation of the individual assembly components results from the above-mentioned purpose information without any further ado. Instead of the diesel engine, an injection internal combustion engine operated with light fuel can also be provided. The three-phase generator can also be replaced by a direct current generator and the liquid cooling can be replaced by air cooling.
The air inlet openings 7 and 8 on the air hood are covered by an air-permeable grille 25, indicated in the figures with broken lines, which forms a cover section by itself or consists of one piece with the cover or the cover surface of the unit housing 23.
