Device for regulating the steam supply in counter-pressure steam engines. It is known to regulate counterpressure steam machines, in which the exhaust steam is released into a connection network, for example to a constant counterpressure. #So that the power generated depends on the demand for counter-pressure steam in the consumer network.
In such systems, a reducing valve connected in parallel with the steam engine is expediently arranged, by means of which possibly reduced live steam can be admitted into the pressure steam line, in such a way that this valve intervenes when the lowest permissible pressure in the counterpressure network is reached, to prevent a further drop below this pressure.
However, the use of counterpressure machines of this type still has difficulties in practice for those companies in which the need for counterpressure steam is subject to strong fluctuations.
In such cases it is necessary to set the back pressure regulation of the machine in such a way that, among other things, just enough steam is caused by the reduction during the period of maximum demand for back pressure steam. ornamental valve is drained that the machine does not have a higher load than:
can take over the desired. The latter, however, could only be achieved by having the reducing valve and the regulating element controlling the steam supply to the machine function simultaneously for a shorter or longer period. Such a collaborative effort is very uneconomical, especially with changing consumption of back pressure steam and it is practically actually impossible to do this in a reliable manner.
The purpose of the invention is to completely eliminate the difficulties caused by changing steam consumption and changing loads when using counter-pressure machines and thereby considerably increasing the possibility of using this simple 3-machine type.
The invention relates to a device for regulating the steam supply in counterpressure machines, which regulates the counterpressure steam to constant pressure, possibly to constant temperature, and works in conjunction with a circulation line with a reducing valve that allows live steam to flow into the counterpressure steam line when the pressure, if necessary, the temperature in this line falls below a certain value,
which device is characterized by two adjustable stops, one of which determines the maximum steam inlet amount and the other the minimum steam inlet amount of the counter-pressure steam engine.
The two stops make it possible to limit the adjustment of the steam supply regulating organes both in the direction of closing and in that of opening and: accordingly also to adjust the possible power to be generated by the machine up and down as required. The advantage of this new device is that the back pressure regulation can always be set to a pressure at which the reducing valve is absolutely still closed and that this setting no longer needs to be changed.
The machine can generate its maximum output before the pressure in the counter pressure network has dropped so far that the reducing valve is activated; a joint activity as mentioned above is therefore excluded. It has been shown in practice that systems which are provided with the new regulating device have significant savings, which can still be increased by operating the two stops themselves.
In the accompanying drawing, the invention is illustrated, for example, and for the sake of better explanation, a system is shown in which the counterpressure steam is used for water gas production and .die Gegendruck.dampf- machine drives a dynamo which runs parallel with a second , dynamo powered by a municipal network is connected to a power network. A prerequisite is that the device is regulated to keep the counter-steam pressure constant.
The regulating element a, which is influenced by an adjustable spring load, is sensitive to the change in the counterpressure of the machine f in line o and accordingly regulates the steam entry into the machine f by means of an inlet valve b. If the steam inlet is already fully open and the back pressure should drop even further as a result of the need for back pressure steam, at a certain fVert, this back pressure - the reducing valve y is actuated; which then lets live steam into the counterpressure steam line of the machine f.
The controller h is connected during: this back pressure operation by backlash with point e, of the rod system in such a way that the controller does not influence the machine f, and only functions as a kind of safety controller. In normal regulator operation, this dead gear is canceled and the regulating element a is closed off from the counterpressure steam line and vented.
The stroke of the control mechanism can now be limited by means of the adjustable stops c and d, in such a way that when the control mechanism comes into contact with one of these stops, a further adjustment in the same,
Direction is avoided. In this way, stop c prevents further opening and stop d prevents further closing of inlet valve b by means of the regulating member. Accordingly, the stop c determines the maximum amount of steam entering the machine and the stop d the minimum amount of steam entering the machine f. The two stops c and d can act on any point of the control mechanism.
In the example given on the drawing, the machine f drives a direct current dynamo in parallel operation with a second dynamo 1 driven by a three-phase motor 1c connected to a municipal network. The voltage of this second dynamo is kept constant and therefore enables that the counter-pressure machine f can take on more or less load through a slight acceleration or deceleration.
As he already mentioned, the counter-pressure steam is used for the manufacture of water gas. Such a manufacture has intermittent operation in the sense that during a few minutes the counter-pressure steam is drawn off in an amount that is not always constant, and a period immediately follows during which there is no steam at all. In the latter period, the machine f would be delayed, but only o far until the dynamo m starts to drive the machine f continuously as a motor.
To prevent such an undesirable but periodically changing position; use is made of the adjustable stop d. The latter is namely set so that the regulating member a is only able to restrict the entry of steam to a minimum amount, which is just enough to drive the machine f while idling. The excess of exhaust steam is released into the counterpressure network and possibly automatically blown off through a safety valve.
As soon as sufficient counter pressure steam is drawn off again, the inlet valve b opens again under the influence of the regulating element a and the machine can immediately take up load again.
Apart from the mentioned periodic fluctuations in the demand for back pressure steam, there are also major changes in the total load on the direct current network n. It is often the case, especially at night, that the total network load is lower than the power that can be generated by the counterpressure machine f through the required amount of counterpressure steam.
The excess of generated electrical energy is consequently absorbed by the converter unit 1c, l running in parallel, which is only permissible as long as this energy does not exceed the idle power of this unit, but becomes impermissible for several reasons as soon as the idle power should be exceeded.
Such an undesirable operating state can also be avoided by using the adjustable stop e. The latter is set in such a way that the regulating element a is only able to increase the steam inlet to a maximum amount which is just sufficient for taking up the available load. Because this amount of steam is smaller than the required amount of counterpressure steam, the pressure in the counterpressure steam network drops to the value at which the reducing valve g comes into operation and supplies what is missing.
It is clear from the above that the position of the stop c in parallel operation is related to the load on the generator 1 operating in parallel, which must not drop below a certain value. In the event that this generator is driven from the network n, said value can also be negative. It is therefore advisable to set the stop c by means of a device that reacts to the load on the generator 1, so that the latter reduces the entry of steam by adjusting the stop c as soon as the mentioned load has fallen to the specific value is.
The stop d, however, related to the load of the counter-printing machine f itself, which does not fall below a certain value, possibly negative if it can be driven from the network, can expediently by means of a device that reacts to this load can be set in such a way that the latter increases the steam inlet by adjusting the stop d as soon as this load has fallen to the specific value.
In addition, conditions can occur during parallel operation that make it desirable to couple the two stops e, d with one another, in such a way that when adjusting, for example, stop c, stop d is also adjusted at the same time.
The latter will be advantageous if there is a possibility that the generator 7 working in parallel is overloaded during periods of low demand for back pressure steam. The stop c then determines the maximum amount of steam entering the counter-pressure machine f, but the stop d is connected to the stop c in such a way that .the difference between the maximum and the minimum load to be absorbed by the counter-pressure machine f is the load of the fully loaded,
parallel working generator l is the same, increased or not increased by the amount for driving the generator l from the network.
The position of the stop d is no longer related to the minimum load on the counter-pressure machine f itself, but to the maximum load on the generator 1 operating in parallel, but with the proviso that the stop d can never give a smaller steam entry than for one Idle drive of the counter pressure machine is required.
If the stop c is automatically adjusted by means of a device that reacts to the load on the generator 1, then the coupling is expediently designed in such a way that the stop d is also adjusted by this device.
The stop d has at the same time advantages for the operation of the counter-pressure machine when going from normal Regulator operation to Gebzw ndruckbetrieb. vice versa. The regulating member a is to be pressurized here. be vented. This pressurization and venting can, however, easily occur too quickly with regard to the regulator and consequently undesired fluctuations in speed of rotation can occur.
This inconvenience can be eliminated by means of the control device in that, with the help of the stop d, the regulating member a gradually moves to its highest resp. lowest position is performed. If you also want to switch from the parallel machine d to another (not shown) during parallel operation of the constant counterpressure regulating machine f, the load fluctuations of the counterpressure machine are due to the changing evaporation issue very arduous.
Up until now it was necessary to temporarily switch the counterpressure machine f to regulator mode. In the device shown in the drawing before the latter is no longer necessary, but you can. By adjusting the two stops c and d fix the control mechanism in the desired positions. Since the transition from one parallel machine to the other, the amount of steam entering the counter-pressure machine and, of course, the load recorded is constant.
In the above description of the embodiment example there is talk of driving electrical generators. 3 Of course, the present device can also be used in cases where the counter-pressure machine f drives a centrifugal pump or a fan and parallel operation with other centrifugal pumps or fans can occur.
