Process for the preparation of an oil of the dipyrazolantlirane series. It has been found that yellow to brownish-yellow vat dyes are obtained if the dipyrazolantlirone obtainable by the process of German patent specification 255641 or its substitution products which contain at least one substitutable hydrogen atom bonded to nitrogen,
with or without the addition of thinners with aldehydes of the aromatic and aliphatic series in the presence of chlorides of phosphorus, antimony and aluminum. The new dyes are more alkaline than dipyrazole anthrone.
The present patent now relates to the preparation of a vat dye of the dipyrazole anthrone series, characterized in that dipyrazole anthrone is heated with or without the addition of diluents with benzaldehyde in the presence of a chloride of a metal of the 5th group of the periodic table. When dry, the dye is a yellow powder that crystallizes from high-boiling solvents in fine, shimmering gold flakes, soluble in concentrated sulfuric acid with a bluish-red color.
It is finely divided by grinding with water and. dyes cotton from a blue-green vat in blue tones, which turn into a pure yellow when hanging.
Example 1 To the fine distribution of 1 part of powdered dipyrazole anthrone in 10 parts of benzaldehyde, 1 part of phosphorus trichloride is added with stirring at 90 °. It is now heated to 130-140, the mass is kept at this temperature for a few hours and then, after cooling, the raw product is separated from the excess benzaldehyde by means of sharp suction or steam distillation.
By recrystallizing from high-boiling solvents such as nitrobenzene or trichlorobenzene, Mahn gets the dye pure. , Example 2 1 part of dipyrazole anthrone is finely divided in 9 parts of trichlorobenzene, and 1 part of benzaldehyde and 1-1.5 parts of phosphorus trichloride are added. With thorough stirring, the mass is now slowly heated to 130-140 and kept at this temperature for several hours. Working up and purification are carried out as in Example 1.
Example 3: 1 part of finely powdered dipyrazole anthrone is heated to 120 with 3 parts of benzaldehyde and 1 part of antimony pentachloride while stirring. The viscous mass is then kept at this temperature for several hours. Work-up and purification are carried out as in Example 1.
Example l: 1 part benzaldehyde and 1 part antimony pentachloride are added to the fine distribution of 1 part powdered dipyrazole anthrone in 9 parts trichlorobenzene. It is now heated to 130-140 for several hours while stirring and the crude product is separated from adhering trichlorobenzene by steam distillation. The dye is purified by recrystallization from nitrobenzene.
Example 5: 1 part of powdered dipyrazole anthrone is reacted in 10 parts of trichlorobenzene, 1 part of benzaldehyde and 0.5 part of phosphorus pentachloride by heating to 130-140 for several hours and worked up as in Example 1.
