Edge needle for festoon sewing machines. With festoon sewing machines, in which a cutting element is used to cut out fabric edges during festoon sewing, the drawback is that the fabric edge is never sharp, but rather shows protruding fibers that are not covered by the edge thread of the festoon , but stand beyond this.
Wühl tried to improve the cut by designing the cutting element like scissors or in two parts, whereby the two parts of the cutting element work together like scissors, but even then there are fibers that protrude beyond the edge thread of the festoon and thus bereaten one Feston arch surrender. It is also already known to use needles with the tip end eccentrically to the shaft axis in conventional sewing machines,
but this design of the needle only serves here to reduce the risk of the needle breaking, in that the tip end is moved into the thicker needle part.
The subject of the present invention is an edging needle for festoon sewing machines, which bites a needle intended for executing the stitches on the festoon edge, the tip end of which is eccentric to the needle axis and which has at least one surface which is intended for fabric fibers protruding beyond the cut fabric edge bend downwards.
In the drawing, an embodiment example of the subject invention is Darge Figure 1 shows the same in use on a two-needle fixed sewing machine; Fig. 2 shows the same in side view and Fig. 3 shows the same in front view; Fig. 4 shows the relative position of the needle according to the invention-to the F'eston.
In Fig. 1 the lower part of the Maschi nenkopfes a two-needle fixed sewing machine is shown. A roller 4 is attached to the needle bar 3 and is located in the plane of the two needles 16 and 17, both of which are carried by the needle bar and which carry out the known upward and downward movements with it. A thread feeder 10 consists of a bent wire which is formed into a hook 11 at its lower end.
The upper end of the thread feeder is pivotably mounted on an arm 14 in such a way that the thread feeder can oscillate in the common plane of the two needles. At the needle rod 3 attack organs, not shown, to share the necessary Bewebningen it. The thread feeder 10 is held in constant contact with the roller 4 by a spring 12.
The machine head carries a cutting device, which is inclined in a known manner, namely the upper knife 2, which works together with the lower knife 1 in a known manner and cuts the fabric 1.5 so that the desired fixed edge to be sewn is created.
The edge needle 17 is such. @ iii-arranged so that it slides downward on the freshly clipped fabric edge, thus stabbing where the knife has just cut. This can be seen from FIGS. 1 and 4. For this purpose has the knife? in a known manner, the recess so that the needle 17 can go through this Ausspa tion 5 as long as the upper knife? is in its subscript.
The presser foot 6 lies on the longitudinal slide 7 of the compound slide 7, and the fabric 15 to be fastened lies between the two.
As from Fig. 2 and; As it emerges, the edge needle 17 is now pointed in a special way. Below the ear 1 ± the taper has taken place in such a way that the tip end is eccentric to the needle axis and a surface 19 is created which forms part of a conical surface and which runs obliquely to and intersects the needle axis. On the side of the surface 19 there are flat surfaces 20 and 21 running obliquely to the needle axis.
If a cut has now been made in the fabric according to the course of the festoon by the cutting member 1, 2, fiber particles will protrude at the edge of the fabric. So that the same now not over the edge thread, which needle 17 laid through the edge. would stand out and thus arouse an unclean marriage impression, comes:
Now with the downward movement of the edging needle 17, the surface 19 works before the edging thread is laid by the surface 19 stroking the fabric edge, i.e. along the festoon edge, whereby the empty protruding fibers are naeli down before the edging needle opens the edging thread the edge of the fabric. The edging thread is thus able due to the nature of the edging needle
to cover all fibers. In Fig. 4, the position is shown in which the edge needle 17 after the cut of the fabric by the cutting member 1,? is located and the fibers ani fabric edge ?? unigelegl: has.
Two znsamnienstossendc: Feston form an angle 23, as FIG. 1 shows and also at this angle the edge needle 17 works in the same way, but not only finite to the surface 19, but also to the surfaces 20 and 21 of the needle affect the fibers on the edge of the fabric that is not yet: finished.
The corresponding position of the edge needle 17 is indicated in dotted lines in FIG.
