Abstract

MÉTODOS PARA AUMENTAR A PRODUÇÃO DE PELO MENOS UM PRODUTO DERIVADO DE PIRUVATO DURANTE FERMENTAÇÃO MICROBIANA E DE 2,3-BUTANODIOL PRODUZIDO POR UMA FERMENTAÇÃO MICROBIANA. Trata-se de um processo para produzir e controlar produtos derivados de piruvato durante a fermentação de um substrato contendo CO por um micro-organismo acetogênico carboxidotrófico. O processo envolve aumentar a concentração de pelo menos um nutriente selecionado a partir do grupo que consiste em vitamina B1, vitamina B5, vitamina B7, e misturas das mesmas, acima da exigência celular do micro-organismo. Quando a concentração é aumentada, a produção de 2,3-butanodiol (2,3-BDO) aumenta enquanto a produção dos outros metabólitos é virtualmente inalterada. O efeito é reversível de modo que, quando a concentração for diminuída, a produção de 2,3-BDO também seja diminuída. Isso permite que uma pessoa controle a razão de etanol: 2,3-BDO a um valor desejado que pode variar de 4:1 a 1:2.
