Châssis de fenètre
La présente invention a pour objet des châssis de fenêtres ou autres comprenant un châssis dormant ou structure de support présentant au moins une baie rectangulaire destinée à être ouver- te ou fermée par le déplacement, par rapport au châssis dormant, d'au moins un élément mobile ou châssis ouvrant relié au châssis dormant et portant ou comprenant un ou plusieurs vitrages ou pan- neaux de verre ou autre matière transparente, translucide ou opaque;
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
Selon la constructions représentée, chacun des châssis ouvrants 5 et 6 peut pivoter sur l'axe de l'arbre correspondant 17, tandis que les bords 8 des châssis ouvrants peuvent s'écarter et se rapprocher l'un de l'autre du fait que les coulisseaux 18 et 22, 23 peuvent coulisser le long des guides constitués par les parois 12A;
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>
5 et 6 des dessins, et supportées de façon à pouvoir effectuer le' mouvement approprié par rapport à un châssis dormant de dimensions convenables ;
<Desc/Clms Page number 8>

Window's frame
The present invention relates to window frames or other frames comprising a fixed frame or support structure having at least one rectangular bay intended to be opened or closed by the displacement, relative to the fixed frame, of at least one element. mobile or opening frame connected to the fixed frame and carrying or comprising one or more panes or panes of glass or other transparent, translucent or opaque material;
the fixed frame being generally rectangular in shape and having two opposite elements serving as guides, one of the edges of the opening frame or of each opening frame being substantially perpendicular to the guides and carrying, at its ends, members (hereinafter called , for ease of use, sliding members or slides) provided to slide along the guides so that
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
the opening frame can pivot on an axis parallel to the abovementioned edge and adjacent to it, and perform a movement which will be called sliding hereinafter, while the slides slide along the guides.
Although, as indicated, the movable element may include one or more frameless glass panels, the expression "opening frame * will be used herein, for convenience, to denote this element and it will cover by therefore the panel or panels without a frame. On the other hand, the expression "Dormant frame" will designate the support structure having the rectangular opening, although in some cases it may only designate the two guides mounted on the side. appropriately on either side of a bay in a wall.
Usually, in window frames of the type specified, the opening frame or each opening frame remains controlled by one or more rods connecting it to the fixed frame, this allowing both the pivoting and the sliding of the opening frame or of each. frame: opening; in the frames according to the invention, this linkage is optional.
In addition, in the window frames that are the subject of the invention, the guides can be provided either along two horizontal parallel sides, or along two parallel vertical or inclined sides of the fixed frame.
One of the objects of the present invention is to provide an improved form of window frame of the type designated above which has certain advantages over window frames of this type known hitherto.
The term "bay" used herein will designate, in certain cases, a part of a bay, for example when a single bay is to be closed by two or more opening frames.
In a window frame according to the invention, comprising a generally rectangular fixed frame, having at least one opening intended to be opened or shod by the movement, relative to the fixed frame, of an opening frame carrying one or more.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
several glazing or glass panels or other sheet material, 1 two opposite sides of the fixed frame serve as guides, one of the edges of.
opening frame extending substantially perpendicularly between the two guides and carrying, at its ends, members or slides intended to slide along the guides, and there is provided a connecting mechanism which forces the ends of the edge of the chas- sis opening extending between the slides to move simul. tapping and identically with respect to their respective guides.
The expression "simultaneously and identically" indicates that the movements are taking place in the same direction and at the same speed *
In some cases, a single opening frame will be provided, while in others, two or more can be provided, each of them being constructed and arranged as described above and, in the second case, the frames. can be separated and move independently of one another or they can be articulated to each other respectively by their edge furthest from the slides.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the connecting mechanism forcing the ends of the edge of the opening frame which extends between the slides to move simultaneously and in an identical manner, comprises a rack fixed to each of the guides. and extending over the length thereof, a shaft mounted so as to be able to rotate in the opening frame, along an axis close to the edge and parallel to the edge, the slides being at the opposite ends of this shaft, and pinions wedged at the ends of the shaft and attacking the racks.
Varying3, however, this mechanism may include cords, bands, straps or similar flexible traction elements - ,, substantially inextensible, which pass around rollers or pinions provided at the ends of the shaft and whose ends are connected) at points adjacent to the ends of the guides, or it may include cords, bands, straps or the like, * substantially inextensible, which pass around rollers, gables
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
or similar members, mounted so as to be able to rotate in the fixed frame, at points adjacent to the ends of the guides, the opposite ends of each of these cords, ribbons, 'sanglas,
or similar elements being connected to the neighboring slide, while the rollers or pinions are connected together by shafts, so as to make them rotate simultaneously.
In either case, the movements of the opening frame (s) can be controlled by one or more links and / or by friction.
One embodiment of a window frame according to the invention is shown in the accompanying drawings, in which! Fig. 1 is a plan view of a window frame, with the sashes partially open; Fig.2 is a view similar to that of Fig.1, the opening frames being closed; Fig.3 is a cross section on a larger scale taken along lines 3-3 of Fig.4, seen in the direction of the arrows, part of the opening frame having been omitted; Fig.4 is a cross sectional view taken along line 4-4 of Fig * 3, and Fig.5 is a cross section taken along line 5-5 of Fig.4.
In the embodiment shown, the window frame comprises a rectangular fixed frame consisting of two side uprights 1 and 2 and upper and lower horizontal cross members 3 and 4, as well as two opening frames 5 and 6, interconnected. by their neighboring vertical edges, so as to be able to pivot as indicated at 7, each of their opposite vertical edges 8, which extends perpendicularly between the crosspieces 3 and 4, being connected to them (as described below) of so as to be able to slide horizontally along these crosspieces and also to be able to pivot on a vertical axis.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
In addition, the movements of the opening frames 5 and 6 are controlled by two rods 9 and 10, each articulated by one end on the frame, corresponding opening 5 or 6, as indicated at 11, and, by the other end, on a fixed block, indicated at 12 ', so that the two frames 5 and 6, when they move from their open position to their closed position, and vice versa, are stressed so that their outer edges are at all times equidistant from the vertical uprights 1 and 2 of the fixed frame. However, as will be explained later, the rods 9 and 10 can be omitted in certain constructions according to the invention.
This is the case, for example, if it is desired that the positions of the vertical edges 8 of the opening frames 3 and 6 along the length of the horizontal cross members 3 and 4 can be modified independently, or if the opening frames 5 and 6 have different widths.
The upper and lower horizontal cross members 3 and 4 of the fixed frame have advantageously an identical cross section, as shown in Figs. 3 and 5, and they are each shaped so as to present a channel-shaped housing 12, as shown in FIGS. carrying a slot forming a slide in its inner wall 12A (that is to say the wall facing the opening frames when they are closed), and a wing 13, projecting inwardly, ending in a U-shaped profile 14 for a seal 15, projecting from the profile in a manner known per se. It is also possible to provide other U-shaped profiles in the uprights 1 and 2, as indicated at lA in Fig.4-, to accommodate other seals 15.
On each of the edges 8 of the opening frames 5 and 6, there is provided a tubular bearing formed partly by an element in the form of a cradle 8A and partly by a removable element 16; in these tubular bearings pass shafts 17 which can rotate and the lower end of each shaft passes through a slide 18 in which it can rotate and which carries two rollers 18A housed in the slot forming the slide of the wall 12A of the cross member 4 sinei
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
that two rotary rollers 19, rested on the upper face of the wall 12A.
In some cases, we populate. provide only one pair of rollers 18A or; if desired, a single pair of rollers 19 *
The lower end of the shaft 17, where it protrudes from the slide 18, can also carry a toothed pinion 20, which is wedged on the shaft 17 and which engages a rack 21 rigidly fixed in the housing 12 cross member 4.
The upper end of each shaft 17 passes through a slide 22 so as to be able to turn therein, and the part of the upper end of the shaft 17 which projects from the slide 22, 23 carries a toothed pinion 24. , which is wedged on the shaft and attacks a rack 25, similar to the rack 21 and also rigidly fixed in the housing 12 of the cross member 3.
As can be seen, the uprights and cross members 1, 2, 3 and 4 of the fixed frame are provided with outwardly extending wings indicated generally at 26, provided to engage the part of the surrounding wall. a bay in which the fixed frame is fixed.
It will also be appreciated that, in the construction shown, each of the opening frames 5 and 6 has a peripheral part, generally indicated at 27, which, when the frames are closed, is in contact with the frames. gaskets 15 and which is formed so as to be able to maintain two glass panels spaced apart from each other, as indicated at 28, to obtain a "double glazing" chasm.
According to the construction shown, each of the opening frames 5 and 6 can pivot on the axis of the corresponding shaft 17, while the edges 8 of the opening frames can move away and come closer to each other because the slides 18 and 22, 23 can slide along the guides formed by the walls 12A;
in addition, the cooperation between the toothed pinions 20 and 24 (which rotate together thanks to the shafts 17) and the respective racks 21 and 25 always keeps the edges 8 of the opening frames strictly parallel to the uprights 1 and 2 of the fixed frame *
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
The parallelism of the edges 8 and their perpendicularity to the upper and lower cross members 3 and 4 of the fixed frame are therefore ensured.
In addition, in an assembly such as that shown in the drawings) it is possible to do without rods 9 and 10 and this variant will allow, in addition to the movement of the opening frames of the. opening position in the closed position as shown in the drawings, sliding of the opening frames as a whole,
in the lateral direction, relative to the fixed frame, when the opening frames are partially or completely open; therefore, when partially or fully open, these frames can be moved so as to occupy a variety of lateral positions in the fixed frame. For example, the opening frames being completely open can be slid as a whole towards one or the other end of the frame or can occupy any desirable intermediate position for reasons of vision, ventilation, cleaning. or others.
According to another variant of the invention, two or more pairs of opening frames can be provided, each constructed and arranged in the manner shown for the opening frames.
5 and 6 of the drawings, and supported so as to be able to effect the appropriate movement relative to a fixed frame of suitable dimensions;
in this case, the neighboring vertical edges of the pairs of opening frames can be hinged to each other so as to form a zigzag arrangement of opening frames connected to each other so as to form a zigzag arrangement of linked opening frames to each other, or they may be separate or separable from each other so as to allow, for example, that two of the opening frames, when open, are moved towards one of the ends of the fixed frame while that two others, open or closed, are at the other end of the sleeping frame or near this other end.
In addition, this arrangement, which comprises dissociable or dissociable pairs of opening frames, is advantageous for cleaning the external faces of glazing or the like mounted in all the opening frames.
<Desc / Clms Page number 8>
It is obvious that one can in any case provide friction means or other suitable means to maintain the opening frames in one or more of the desired open or partial opening positions, as well as any mechanism. suitable locking mechanism to keep the opening frames closed.
