SEAL FOR WINDOWS AND DOORS LEAF.
The present invention relates to a seal for windows and doors, which serves to seal in a sealed manner the gaps formed between the frame and the frame, so as to prevent the ingress of drafts. , dust, rain and snow.
The seal according to the invention consists in principle of a seal strip made of an elastically deformable material, such as natural or synthetic rubber, flexible plastics, or the like. The seal strip according to the invention is inserted into the slot to be caulked in such a way that a lip is formed which protrudes beyond the edge of the leaf and which can easily pivot.
In order to facilitate the positioning of the seal strip in grooves made in the door or window leaf, the base part of the seal strip, base part intended to be inserted into the groove , is configured in such a way that the joint strip is rigidly embedded in the groove, without it being necessary to use additional fixing means, such as nails, or the like.
To this end, the base part of the joint strip, part of an essentially rectangular profile in cross section, is provided according to the invention with ribs arranged parallel to its longitudinal direction. These ribs, or the like, preferably have a sawtooth profile, the pointed part of the sawtooth being oriented upwards, so that the friction occurring between the walls of the groove and the joint strip which is inserted therein wedges the joint strip in the groove in the manner of a barbed hook.
This wedging by shape and by friction is not affected if, as a result of drying out or overgrowth of the wood, or other, the width of the groove in the door or window leaf changes , and in particular to grow.

The drawing shows on an enlarged scale an embodiment of the joint strip according to the invention.
Stzr the drawing:
Figure 1 shows a graphic view of the seal strip,
Figure 2 shows a section through the purlin, at a window frame with a seal strip according to Figure 1 inserted,
Figure 3 shows a cross section through the lower part of a window frame provided with a seal strip held in place by means of a profiled strip.
The sawtooth-shaped lamellae 2 with which the base part 1 of the joint strip is provided press on the one hand - and in the manner illustrated in figure 2 - against the base part 1 of the joint strip. the seal strip, and on the other hand against the internal wall of the groove made in the door leaf.
The sealing strips are placed in the grooves in the door or window sash as follows: the sealing strips, cut beforehand to a length identical to that of the groove and suitably soaked in l water or in soapy water are preferably inserted in successive sections into the groove, simultaneously ending the tension due to the fact that the strip is drawn lengthwise. By virtue of their inherent elasticity and, where appropriate, thanks to a complementary force exerted, the joint strips shorten to the length they had before being stretched, on the occasion of which the ribs 2 are press as illustrated in Figure 2 against the side walls of the groove.
In cases where the sealing strips are not inserted in the window sash, they can, as shown in the section according to figure 3, be fitted to the lower and horizontal part of the window frame, so as to that the caulking lip of the joint strip comes to press against the underside of the window sash, side planed accordingly if necessary. In this case, the fixing of the joint strip is carried out in the manner illustrated in figure 3 by means of a profiled bar 3 made for example of light metal, or the like, taking care at the same time to ensure that the vertical slot existing between the window sash and the window frame is itself sealed as much as possible by this profiled bar 3 which serves on the other hand for fixing the seal strip.
