@ Pédalier, notamment pour bicyclettes Il.
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

'Une autre réalisation de la couronne enveloppante est représentée dans la moitié supérieure de la figure
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
Dans la réalisation suivant les figures 1 et 2, le corps de support 1 est constitué en une seule pièce avec la couronne intérieure dentée Mais, le corps de support 1 et la couronne dentée intérieure 2 peu- vent avantageusement être constitués par des pièces séparées, de telle manière que la couronne dentée soit posée de façon interchangeable sur le corps de support;
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>
dents.
Dans l'exemple suivant les figures 1 et 2, l'orga ne servant à transmettre la commande des manivelles au pignon d'entraînement du véhicule est constitué par une roue dentée 31 à chaîne, qui est fixement ,..1- reliée par les guides de blocage déjà décrits à l'une des cuvettes 4 du rotor et cela par un écrou 32 pouvant être vissé sur le boulon 15;
<Desc/Clms Page number 8>

@ Crankset, especially for bicycles Il.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
The present invention relates to cranksets, especially for bicycles, in which in order to obtain an elliptical path for the pedals, the two cranks are supported separately each for itself by means of diametrically opposed journals in a rotor which rotates in a body of the pedals. fixed support in the frame of the bicycle, the shaft of each crank carrying a planet gear which engages in the transmission ratio 1 2 in a fixed internal ring gear in the support body.
The crankset according to the invention is essentially characterized in that the rotor is formed with the bearings provided for the crank shafts by two cups which are connected directly so as to be able to rotate by bearings to the internal ring support body.
Various other characteristics of the invention appear moreover from the detailed description which follows and from the appended drawings which illustrate, by way of non-limiting example, one embodiment of the crankset.
Figure 1 is a partial axial section of the mechanism.
Figure 2 is a side elevation with parts broken away to show the interior.
Figure 3 shows different ions from one of the rotor cups for its control.
Figure 4 shows two different embodiments of the support body with the connection to the frame tube.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
Figure 5 is a detail view.
According to the embodiment shown in the figures :; 1 and 2, the mechanism has as an essential part an annular support body 1 comprising an internal toothed ring 2 The body 1 serves to support the two cups 3 and 4 of the rotor, which on their side support the crank shafts 7 and 8 in suitable bearing sleeves 5a 5b and 6a 6b The bearing sleeves can be in one piece with the rotor cups of the well they can be provided as separate pieces - Crank shafts 7 and 8 are made up of in the form of planet gears 9 and 10, which roll on the inner ring gear 2 of the support body 1.
It is essential for the present crankset that the cups 3 and 4 of the rotor, with their bearings 5a 5b, 6a, 6b provided for the crank shafts 7 and 8, are connected directly to the support body 1 so as to be able to rotate. using bearings.
The bearings can be constituted, as shown, by the ball bearings 11 and 12, but also by other bearings, such as for example roller bearings. The two cups 3 and 4 of the rotor are advantageously formed as the reflection of each other. One of the surfaces of the bearings is formed, on the one hand, directly by corresponding hollow rings 13, 14 of the cups and, on the other hand, by grooves formed directly in the support body. The rolling surfaces can also be formed by separate attached steel rings, in particular when the openings of the rotor are of soft metal or of light metal.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
The two cups 3 and 4 of the rotor are rigidly connected to each other by tightening guides, one of which is visible in section at the bottom of FIG. 1 and which serve not only for tightening the two puvettes but also for adjusting their distance. Thus, the cups can easily receive subsequent adjustment and the mechanism can be removed just as easily when it appears necessary after prolonged use.
In the example shown, four such clamping guides are provided which are distributed uniformly over the periphery of the cups of the rotor.
The tightening guides have bolts 15, one end of which is supported by a fixed head 16 against one of the cups 3 of the rotor and the other end of which receives a nut 17 bearing on the other cup of the rotor * For this purpose, the two cups 3 and 4 of the rotor each carry a short guide tube 18 and 19 The end without thread of the bolt 15 is guided in the tube 18 while the nut 17 is guided -in the other tube of guidance 19.
The two tubes 18 and 19, as well as the bolts 15, can also include threads of opposite pitches, which allows mutual support and precise adjustment of two cups of the rotor on the two ball bearing rings.
Recesses 20, 21 are arranged concentrically with the guide tubes 18, 19; then have a polygonal shape on the edge corresponding to the tet 16 of the bolt and to the head 17 of the nut. When the nut 17. is tightened for a subsequent adjustment of the cups 3 and 4 of the rotor, the head 16, as well as the nut 17 engage in corresponding recesses.

laying 20 and 21,
which provides security against loosening of the locking guides.
The support body 1 is fixed to the frame of the bicycle by means of an enveloping crown surrounding this body 1 and comprising tubular appendages which enclose the ends of the frame tubes going to the crankset.
In accordance with the embodiment shown in FIG. 1, the enveloping ring consists of two parts 22 23 symmetrical with respect to the radial plane of the support body, which, by surrounding this body, are fixedly connected to one another. at the joint 24 and, in fact, for example by welding At the places of attachment with the frame of the bicycle, the two elements of the enveloping ring each form tubular half-appendages 25,
26 which are also fixedly connected to the joints and which consequently form tubular appendages in the form of sleeves to fix and surround the ends 27 of the frame tubes (figure 4 As can be seen from figure 2, there are three such tubular appendages.
As seen in the lower half of Figure 4, we can :. providing a peripheral midrib 28 to guide corresponding tubular appendages 22a 23a of the casing.
The enveloping crown can also be made up of two asymmetrical parts, one of which is provided with complete tubular appendages provided for the ends of the frame tubes, while the other part can be fitted onto the support body and can be fixedly connected ± . the first part.
'Another embodiment of the enveloping crown is shown in the upper half of the figure
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
4 according to which the tubular appendage 29 is formed by the support body 1 itself, for the fitting of the tube 27 of the frame.
The support body is constituted here. simply by a fixed annular sheet from which the tubular appendages 29 are stamped.
An annular groove is provided on the lateral edges of the enveloping ring according to FIG. 1 between the latter and the support body to receive the sealing rings 30 These sealing rings 30 are for example embedded directly in the grooves. annulars of the support body in the exemplary embodiment according to the upper half of FIG. 4.
By the arrangement and the constitution shown of the cuvettes with respect to the support body with the rings 30 forming a tight seal, a constructive unit is formed which represents by its parts a box with an essentially closed mechanism.
In the embodiment according to FIGS. 1 and 2, the support body 1 is made in one piece with the toothed inner ring But, the support body 1 and the inner toothed ring 2 can advantageously be made up of separate parts, such that the ring gear is placed interchangeably on the support body;
in particular, the inner ring gear 2 can be arranged so that it can be fitted and removed on the support body to which it is fixed to prevent it from turning. In the example according to FIG. 5, the inner ring gear upper 2 is formed by an annular strip comprising corrugations which correspond to the profile of the
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
teeth. The arrangement can also be made so that the inner toothed ring is formed by an annular band smooth on the outside which has perforations and recesses corresponding to the. tooth profile.
Instead of particular running surfaces 11, 12 in the support body 1, the inner ring gear 2 can also have such wave surfaces on the side.
In the example according to Figures 1 and 2, the organ serving to transmit the control of the cranks to the drive pinion of the vehicle is constituted by a toothed wheel 31 with chain, which is fixedly, .. 1- connected by the locking guides already described to one of the cups 4 of the rotor and this by a nut 32 which can be screwed onto the bolt 15;
for this purpose the chain wheel has arms 33 going to the blocking guide ffigure 2 The chain wheel can be in one piece with the cup 4 of the rotor according to the lower half of Figure 3, the outer edge of this cup being formed as a chain wheel 34 as shown.
It is also possible to have the member serving to transmit the command, for example the chain wheel, on one of the two crank shafts 7 or 8 or even on. one of the cranks (not shown). This member would then execute a circular movement corresponding to the crank shafts 7, 8 in the support body 1, the chain or another member serving for the continuation of the transmission should then be constructed - killed and disposed accordingly.
The organ used to transmit the command
<Desc / Clms Page number 8>
can be constituted, in place of the chain wheel, by a bevel gear 35 (lower half of FIG. 4 intended to mesh with a bevel gear 36 for a cardan drive.
The crank shafts 7 and 8 may be at least partially constituted in the form of hollow pins, the interior of which 37 is connected to oil channels 38 ± FIG. 1 leading into the interior of the mechanism box. The lubricator could also advantageously consist of a hollow screw passing radially through the support body 1 and at the same time preventing the internal toothed crown 2, separated from the support body, from rotating.
To form an oil tank in which the pinions rotate on the inner ring 2 of the support body, one can also imagine the following constitution:
The support body 1 consists of three parts, the middle part of which carries the toothed ring internally and the other two can be moved into position in a removable manner in the form of lateral ball bearing rings in the middle part, the rings side bearings with an edge projecting inward,
so that an oil bath can be kept in the box formed by the three elements and the outer cups * The two side cups 3 and 4 are clamped on the edge, not inwards, but forming the surfaces bearing directly against the side bearing rings and these rings then form the cooperating surface for the balls, then, beyond, the reinforcing edge extended inward, so that a bowl intended to contain the oil bath is formed at
