<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
L'arbre 16 n @
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

"Device for separating the wires from a bundle of wires one by one".
The present invention relates to a device for separating one by one the son of a bundle of son.
Devices of this kind are very useful wherever it is necessary to take quickly one by one the wires of a bundle, for example, to place the current conducting wires in the carrying members of machines for the assembly of incandescent electric lamps. Most of the time, the wires used as conductors are flexible; as a result they get confused easily when brought together in a bundle,
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
so that the separation of a single wire from such a bundle is difficult and takes a long time.
The device according to the invention comprises a carrier member for the bundle of wires, and this carrier member cooperates with a receiving member having a groove which can accommodate only one wire at a time in the direction of the length and is provided with means making it possible to maintain the wire temporarily in this groove. If the relative movement between the carrying member and the receiving member is such that the latter passes with its groove in the bundle of wires, one of the wires will slide in this groove when the latter is placed in the direction of its length. and this wire will be held there temporarily, so that it can be removed by the receiving organ to be isolated. The wire can be held provisionally in the groove, for example, by magnetic means. However, according to the invention, it is also possible to provide the groove with an orifice connected to a vacuum pipe.
According to one embodiment of the invention, the carrier member has a portion in the form of a chute which ends by forming an angle. The movement of the carrying member relative to the receiving member is such that in the cooperative position the part in the form of a chute is completely or almost in the extension of the groove of the organ. receiver.
According to the invention, the carrying member can be arranged so that it rotates around a shaft perpendicular to the direction of the chute. The receiving member may also be capable of rotating around a shaft and in this case this shaft will be parallel to the shaft around which the carrying member can turn.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
Once the wire is isolated by the receiving organ, it is necessary to bring it to the point where it is needed. If the insulated wire is temporarily held in the groove by the action of the vacuum, a valve is provided which, during the movement of the receiving member towards the point of use, automatically interrupts the communication between this member and the vacuum, and there is further provided a device for lifting the thread from the groove. According to the invention, this device may be formed by a boss which the wire encounters on arriving at the destination point, so that it is lifted from the groove.
The description given below with reference to the appended drawing, given by way of example, will make it clear how the invention can be implemented.
FIG. 1 is a side view of a device according to the invention.
FIG. 2 is a detail view of the carrying member.
Figure 3 is an enlarged view of the receptor member and the carrier member as they cooperate with each other.
A carrier member 10 can rotate around a shaft 11 and contain a bundle of wires. It cooperates with a receiving member 12 provided with a groove (Figure 3) which can accommodate only one wire at a time in the direction of the length and which has an orifice 14 connected to a vacuum duct 15 The receiving member can rotate around a tubular shaft 16 connecting the duct 15 to the duct 17 which communicates with the vacuum source. The receiving member 12 is fixed to a toothed sector 18 actuated by means of a rack 19. The shaft 16 n @
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
is provided with a groove 20, the shape of which is such that the duct 15 communicates with the vacuum between the positions A and B and that this communication is cut between the positions B and C.
The carrier member 10 and the receptor member 12 cooperate as follows. In the normal position, the member: carrier 10 is arranged vertically, as shown in Figure 2.
After having turned 90 it can occupy the position shown in figure 1. Figure 3 shows the profile of the carrier member. It can be seen that this organ has a V-shaped part in which the bundle of wires is placed when the organ is horizontal (Figure 3). In the cooperative position of the carrier member and the receiver member, the trough-shaped part (indicated by the arrow 21) of the carrier member is located substantially in the extension of the groove 13. As a result, one of the lower threads contained in the carrier member 10 will be placed in the groove where it will be held by the suction exerted by the vacuum. When the receiving organ moves from position A to position C, the wire will be removed from the bundle.
Although in position B the communication with the vacuum is interrupted, the wire will not immediately fall from the receiving member, because there remains in the conduit 15, as a result of its blockage, a pressure lower than that of the atmosphere. In order for the wire to be removed in position C, a boss 22 is provided which the wire strikes and by which it is lifted from the receiving member. As a result of the lifting, air enters the channel 15 so that the pressure there becomes equal to that of the atmosphere and the wire is released.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
As a result of the movement of the carrier member 10, the wires will always be pushed back into the V-shaped chute 21. During the movement towards the horizontal position, the wires will necessarily be launched into this chute. They will thus undergo a small displacement in the longitudinal direction (Figure 1) which, however, is compensated when the carrier member returns to the vertical position.
