<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
Les caractéristiques et avantages de l'invention ressortiront d'ailleurs de la description qui va suivre, à titre d'exemple, en référence aux dessins schématiques annexés sur lesquels : la figure 1 est une vue en perspective éclatée d'un coffret auquel peut être associée une entretoise suivant l'invention ; la figure 2 est, à échelle supérieure, une vue partielle en coupe du fond de ce coffret, suivant la ligne II-II de la figure 1 ; la figure 3 est une vue en perspective des seuls fonds de deux coffrets à disposer côte à côte, et, de manière éclatée, de l'entretoise à rapporter suivant l'invention sur ces fonds ; la figure 4 est, à échelle supérieure, une vue en plan de cette entretoise, suivant la flèche IV de la figure 3 ; la figure 5 en est une vue en coupe longitudinale, suivant la ligne V-V de la figure 4 ;
la figure 6 en est, à échelle encore supérieure, une vue en coupe transversale, suivant la ligne VI-VI de la figure 4 ; les figures 7 et 8 en sont, à échelle également supérieure, des vues partielles de dessous, suivant chacune respectivement les flèches VII et VIII de la figure 5 ; la figure 9 en est une vue partielle en coupe suivant la ligne IX-IX de la figure 8 ;
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>
<Desc/Clms Page number 8>

"Spacer for boxes for electrical devices to be placed side by side"
The present invention relates generally to boxes which, intended for housing electrical devices, are formed in a distinct manner, on the one hand, from a bottom, which, overall flat, and therefore, in particular, devoid of of substantial peripheral wall, is carrying, by means of a chassis, the electrical appliances concerned, and, on the other hand, a covering, which, commonly called hood, is to be brought to the bottom when the wiring of these electrical appliances is finished.
Such a box is notably described in the French patent filed on May 16, 1990 under No 90 06123 and published under No 2 662 327.
When the circumstances require it, it may be necessary to place two of these boxes side by side, for example in a horizontal row, with, from one to the other, cables establishing an electrical connection between the devices that they contain.
This can in particular be the case for the extension of an already existing installation.
In practice, the wiring between boxes is done after removing their covering.
It must then be replaced.
This supposes that this covering comprises at least one opening for the passage of the cables, and, in fact, more or less extensive openings are usually precut in one or the other of the walls of such a covering to allow the passage of cables after routing.
However, to date, the reinstallation of the skins of two adjoining boxes raises difficulties in practice, for the following reasons.
First of all, the openings made in their adjoining walls are not necessarily strictly aligned with one another from one to the other of these walls, which reduces the section for cables passage
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
useful, and, therefore, can cause complications.
In addition, and above all, no means being normally provided for ensuring the resistance of the cables, these cables constitute in themselves an impediment to the replacement of a covering if they do not come before the law. opening planned in it for their passage.
In British patent application No. 2 233 505, there is described, with reference to some of the figures, a spacer in the general shape of a handle, with, laterally, two uprights, and, in its median part, a crosspiece, which connects to each other these amounts.
However, in this British patent application, the funds to be linked are not funds within the meaning of the present patent application, that is to say generally flat funds.
On the contrary, these are `` bases '' surrounded by a substantial peripheral wall along their edges, and it is in this peripheral wall that openings are provided for the passage of cables.
The problem of channeling and retaining these cables therefore does not arise in this British patent application No. 2 233 505.
Indeed, this channeling and this retention of the cables is provided by themselves by the peripheral wall of the bases concerned.
The present invention generally relates to a spacer providing by itself a solution to this problem.
This spacer is of the kind in the general shape of a handle, with two uprights laterally and, in its middle part, a crosspiece, which connects these uprights to one another, and it is characterized in that, the boxes concerned being each formed of a generally flat bottom and a covering, it is adapted to be subjected by its amounts to the bottom of one and the other of these boxes for the constitution between these boxes of a tunnel of circulation specific to the channeling of cables and to the retention of these.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
in addition to the connection which it provides between the funds to which it is attached, such a spacer therefore advantageously constitutes in itself a circulation tunnel, through which the cables extend ensuring a connection between the two corresponding boxes, and which thus advantageously channels these cables and ensures their retention.
Duly cut to the contour of this spacer, the covers of the two boxes can then very easily be replaced, without being obstructed by the cables.
Replacing them requires only a simple engagement on this spacer.
The characteristics and advantages of the invention will become more apparent from the description which follows, by way of example, with reference to the appended schematic drawings in which: FIG. 1 is an exploded perspective view of a box which can be associated a spacer according to the invention; Figure 2 is, on a larger scale, a partial sectional view of the bottom of this box, along line II-II of Figure 1; Figure 3 is a perspective view of the only funds of two boxes to be placed side by side, and, in an exploded manner, of the spacer to be attached according to the invention on these funds; Figure 4 is, on a larger scale, a plan view of this spacer, according to arrow IV of Figure 3; Figure 5 is a longitudinal sectional view along the line V-V of Figure 4;
Figure 6 is a still larger scale, a cross-sectional view along the line VI-VI of Figure 4; Figures 7 and 8 are, also on a larger scale, partial views from below, each according respectively to arrows VII and VIII of Figure 5; Figure 9 is a partial sectional view along the line IX-IX of Figure 8;
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
Figure 10 is, with a local cutaway, an exploded perspective view which, deduced from those of Figures 1 and 3, illustrates the implementation of the spacer according to the invention; FIG. 11 is a perspective view of the sole covering of one of the boxes concerned, and, in an exploded manner, of a cutting pattern associated with the spacer according to the invention to facilitate the corresponding cutting of this covering.
As illustrated in these figures, and more particularly in FIG. 10, it is a question, overall, of ensuring the passage of a certain number of cables 10 from one to the other of two boxes 11, which, arranged side by side, are each formed by a bottom 12 and a covering 13 to be attached to this bottom 12 after execution of the corresponding wiring.
The boxes 11 are well known in themselves, in particular by French patent No 90 06123, and they will therefore not be described in all their details here.
Only the elements necessary for understanding the invention will be described therein.
Their bottom 12 is a functional bottom on which a frame 14 is attached for the support of the electrical devices concerned.
Along at least two of their edges, and in this case they are their vertical edges, this bottom 12 has, projecting, from place to place, for various reasons, studs 15.
In practice, these studs 15 have, in cross section, a circular contour.
In the embodiment shown, they are axially hollowed out.
But, apart from these studs 15, the bottom 12 is generally flat.
In particular, it is devoid of any rim, or, more precisely, of any substantial peripheral wall.
The covering 13, for its part, is, for example, formed, on the one hand, of a frame 16, which is itself formed of two
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
longitudinal walls 17 and two transverse walls 18, and, on the other hand, a door 20, which is duly articulated on the frame 16, along one of the longitudinal walls 17 thereof.
According to the invention, it is associated with two boxes 11 to be placed side by side, a spacer 22, which, in the general shape of a handle, comprises, laterally, two uprights 23, by which it is adapted to be secured to the bottom 12 of one and the other of these two boxes 11, and, in its middle part, a crosspiece 24, which connects the uprights 23 to each other.
In the embodiment shown, the uprights 23 are generally oblique with respect to the cross-member 24, converging towards each other from their base to this cross-member 24.
Preferably, both the uprights 23 and the crosspiece 24 are rectilinear.
In addition, in the embodiment shown, and for reasons which will appear later, both the uprights 23 and the crosspiece 24 have a U-shaped cross section, which is flat bottom 26 and flanks 27 straight, and whose concavity is turned. outwards, as is better visible in FIG. 6 for the crosspiece 24.
The spacer 22 according to the invention thus forms on its back a groove 28 which runs over its entire length.
For their engagement on studs 15 projecting from the bottoms 12 of the boxes 11, the uprights 23 are each fitted with two caps 29 at their base.
In the embodiment shown, these two caps 29 laterally flank the upright 23 which they equip, extending over at least part of the height thereof from its base, and, in practice, over a only fraction of this height.
For at least one of the uprights 23, which is the one shown in isolation in FIG. 7, and as shown diagrammatically in broken lines in this FIG. 7, the internal contour of the caps 29 is capable of enveloping a circle C corresponding to the external contour of the studs 15 of the bottoms 12 of the boxes 11.
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
For the other of the uprights 23, which is the one shown in isolation in FIG. 8, the internal contour of the caps 29 is more elongated parallel to the crosspiece 24 than perpendicular to the latter, so that, as shown schematically in broken lines on this FIG. 8, it is able to wrap two circles C each corresponding to the external contour of the studs 15 of the bottoms 12 of the boxes 11.
It turns out, in fact, that from one type of box 11 to another, and depending on the height of such a box 11, the location of the studs 15 may be different.
By being able to be engaged on one or the other of two studs 15 located at different locations, as shown diagrammatically in broken lines in FIG. 9, the spacer 22 according to the invention can advantageously be adapted to several different types of boxes 11.
For reasons of the same kind, which need not be explained here, the caps 29 have, on one side, at their outlet, in the embodiment shown, a recess 30.
Finally, in the embodiment shown, the internal contour of a cap 29 is defined in part by a rib 31, which, backed by the corresponding amount 23, advantageously reinforces this amount 23 and advantageously minimizes the friction during engagement on a stud 15.
For the upright 23 shown in Figure 7, only such a rib 31 is provided.
For the upright shown in Figure 8, two ribs 31 parallel to each other are provided at a distance from each other, one per circle C.
The lateral edges 32 of the caps 29 parallel to the ribs 31 extend perpendicular to the uprights 23.
For the upright 23 shown in Figure 7, they are connected to each other by a part 33 in a semicircle.
For the upright 23 shown in Figure 8, they are connected to each other by a part 33 formed by two quarter circles connected to each other by a straight portion.
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
Finally, in the embodiment shown, the uprights 23 of the spacer 22 are reinforced by ribs 40 which, along their edges, connect their internal surface to the caps 29 in a triangle.
For the implementation of the spacer 22 according to the invention, the covering 13 of the boxes 11 must be cut accordingly.
In practice, this cutting must affect those of the longitudinal walls 17 of the frames 16 of these linings 13 by which these must be juxtaposed and lead to the formation of a notch 34 at the contour of the spacer 22 on the free edge of these longitudinal walls 17.
To facilitate this cutting, it is associated according to the invention, with the spacer 22, a cutting pattern 35, which reproduces the outline 36, and which, as shown diagrammatically by arrows F1 in FIG. 11, is applied to a covering 13 to be cut, and, more precisely, to the longitudinal wall 17 concerned of the frame 16 thereof.
For example, this cutting pattern 35 constitutes a single-sided adhesive.
For its indexing with respect to the longitudinal wall 17 of the frame 16 of a covering 13 to which it must be applied, it carries a mark 37 in correspondence with a mark 38 provided jointly on such a longitudinal wall 17.
Once the bottoms 12 of the boxes 11 are placed side by side and equipped with the electrical appliances which they must carry, the cables 10 are established from one to the other of these bottoms 12, as shown in Figure 10.
Next, the spacer 22 is put in place, by engaging the caps 29 of its uprights 23 on the corresponding studs 15 of the bottoms 12, as shown diagrammatically by arrows F2 in FIG. 3.
By forming a sort of circulation tunnel, the spacer 22 then ensures by itself the channeling of the cables 10 and their retention.
<Desc / Clms Page number 8>
After cutting the covers 13, it is finally carried out on the backs 12, as shown diagrammatically by arrows F3 for one of them in FIG. 10.
During this positioning, the longitudinal walls 17 cut from these covers 13 engage by the edge of their notch 34 in the groove 28 of the spacer 22.
As is easy to understand, this groove 28 thus advantageously makes it possible to make up for any irregularities in the cuts of the notches 34.
If desired, it can also allow the housing of a seal, not shown.
Of course, the present invention is not limited to the embodiments described and shown, but encompasses any variant and / or combination of their various elements.
