Abstract

Un sistema de asignacion prioritario a canales de acceso y un protocolo de mensajes permiten que estaciones moviles inalámbricas hagan llamadas que tienendiferentes niveles de prioridad. Una estacion movil origina una llamada, que puede automáticamente incluir una solicitud de un acceso prioritario o que puederequerir una intervencion manual por el usuario para solicitar un acceso prioritario. Si no se dispone de recurso en el sistema para procesar la llamada deinmediato, el mensaje de originacion es procesado por una estacion de base por un centro de conmutacion movil, utilizándose una pluralidad de protocolos demensajes para determinar el momento en el cual fue originado la llamada y un nivel de prioridad asociado con la llamada.En base al nivel de prioridad y momentode llegada, la estacion de base coloca la llamada en una posicion adecuada dentro de una cola de espera. Las llamadas de mayor prioridad son colocadas en unaposicion en la cola de espera, posicion que es superior que lade las llamadas de prioridad inferior. Cuando los recursos del sistema se vuelven disponibles,se asigna un canal a la llamada pendiente con la mayor prioridad, y la llamada puede ser procesada de una manera convencional. El sistema de asignacionprioritaria de canales de acceso permite que el abonado se desplace aleatoriamente (to roam) de una celda a otra, siendo el status de prioridad pendiente,transferido a la estacion de base situada en la celda nueva. Los protocolos de los mensajes permiteque la informacion de prioridad y de momento de llegadasean transferidos desde la estacion de base antigua a la estacion de base nueva de manera tal de mantener la prioridad adecuada.
