Silicijum u prahu, naznačen time, što ima čestice veličine od 0.1 do 1000 Вµm, spcifičnu površinu od 0.001 do 1 m2/g i što mu je hemijski sastav, izraženo u masenim procentima, od 0.1 do 1 % gvoždja, od 0.01 do 1% aluminijuma, od 0 do 8% bakra, od 0 do 1% kalcijuma, od 0 do 1% cinka, od 0 do 1% kalaja, od 0 do 0.5% bora, od 0 do 0.5% fosfora, od 0 do 0.5% natrijuma, od 0 do 0.5% litijuma, od 0 do 0.5% kalijuma, od 0 do 0.5% magnezijuma, od 0 do 0.5% stroncijuma, od 0 do 0.5% barijuma i od 0 do 0.5% berilijuma, dok ostatak predstavlja silicijum i manje od 0.3% nečistoća kao što su Ti, V, Cr, Mo, W i Zr.
