Definitions
- the present invention relates to a method for producing ketones and / or alcohols by oxidizing hydrocarbon compounds with molecular oxygen to produce ketones and / or alcohols, and a method and system for producing ketones and / or alcohols by decomposing hydroperoxides produced as intermediates.
- a method for producing ketones and / or alcohols by oxidizing hydrocarbon compounds with molecular oxygen to produce ketones and / or alcohols and a method and system for producing ketones and / or alcohols by decomposing hydroperoxides produced as intermediates.
- Oxidation of hydrocarbon compounds with molecular oxygen has been studied for a long time, and many methods have been disclosed.
- a particularly industrially important autooxidation of hydrocarbon compounds is the oxidation of cyclohexane.
- the obtained cyclohexanone and cyclohexanol are extremely important compounds as raw materials for nylon 6 and nylon 6,6.
- Oxidation of the hydrocarbon compound with molecular oxygen proceeds via the corresponding hydroperoxide.
- the selectivity of the oxidation reaction from a hydrocarbon compound to hydroperoxide is high, hydroperoxide decomposes into various by-products other than the target alcohol and ketone under the oxidation reaction conditions, and therefore the selectivity decreases.
- the oxidation reaction is terminated at a stage where the conversion rate is low, and the hydroperoxide in the reaction solution remaining without being decomposed is decomposed in the next step to obtain the target ketone and / or
- a method for producing alcohol is generally employed.
- Methods for decomposing hydroperoxide are roughly divided into two. One is a method of decomposing hydroperoxide by adding a small amount of a transition metal compound, and the other is a method of decomposing hydroperoxide by contacting with an alkaline aqueous solution.
- the former since the former has a slow decomposition rate of hydroperoxide and the decomposition selectivity is not so high, the latter process is generally adopted. In the latter process, neutralization of carboxylic acids by-produced by the oxidation reaction and hydrolysis of esters by-produced by the oxidation reaction are also performed at the same time.
- the alkali metal carbonate when used as the alkali, the alkali metal carbonate can be regenerated and recycled by burning the discharged alkaline aqueous phase.
- the pH of the aqueous alkali metal carbonate solution is much lower than the pKa of hydroperoxide (an inverse logarithm of 12 to 13 of the acid dissociation constant), and there is almost no effect of dissociating the hydroperoxide and transferring it to the alkaline aqueous phase. Therefore, saponification with an aqueous alkali metal carbonate solution has a slower decomposition rate of hydroperoxide and lower decomposition selectivity than two-step saponification with strong alkali.
- the ketone / alcohol ratio of the resulting ketone and alcohol is lower than that of the two-stage saponification with strong alkali, which is disadvantageous in that it is necessary to produce the ketone by dehydrogenation of the alcohol for the purpose of obtaining the ketone. .
- the present invention addresses hydroperoxide obtained by oxidizing a hydrocarbon compound with molecular oxygen by using an aqueous alkali solution to quickly and with high selectivity and recovering and recycling the alkali. It is an object of the present invention to provide a method and a system for producing a target ketone and / or alcohol at low cost. In particular, an object of the present invention is to provide a method and a system for producing a ketone at a low cost.
- the present invention relates to the following matters.
- a method for producing a ketone and / or alcohol having the same number of carbon atoms as the hydrocarbon compound by decomposing hydroperoxide in a reaction solution obtained by oxidizing a hydrocarbon compound with molecular oxygen A hydroperoxide decomposition step of bringing the reaction solution into contact with an alkaline earth metal carbonate or an aqueous solution containing an alkali metal carbonate and a transition metal compound, and decomposing hydroperoxide into the ketone and / or alcohol; , A separation step of separating into an oil phase containing the ketone and / or alcohol and an aqueous phase containing an alkaline earth metal carbonate or an alkali metal carbonate and a transition metal compound; A recovery step of burning the aqueous phase and recovering an alkali metal carbonate or alkaline earth metal carbonate and a transition metal compound; A recycling step of dissolving at least an alkali metal carbonate or an alkaline earth metal carbonate in water among the recovered
- the transition metal compound contains at least one transition metal selected from the group consisting of groups 6A, 7A and 8 of the periodic table. 6). 6.
- transition metal compound according to any one of 1 to 5, wherein the transition metal compound contains at least one transition metal selected from the group consisting of chromium, manganese, iron, cobalt, nickel, copper, ruthenium, rhodium, palladium and platinum.
- the hydrocarbon compound is cyclohexane, and the hydroperoxide is cyclohexyl hydroperoxide.
- a system for decomposing hydroperoxide in a reaction solution obtained by oxidizing a hydrocarbon compound with molecular oxygen to produce a ketone and / or alcohol having the same number of carbon atoms as the hydrocarbon compound A hydroperoxide decomposition unit that contacts the reaction solution with an alkaline earth metal carbonate or an aqueous solution containing an alkali metal carbonate and a transition metal compound to decompose the hydroperoxide into the ketone and / or alcohol.
- a separation part that separates into an oil phase containing the ketone and / or alcohol and an aqueous phase containing an alkaline earth metal carbonate or an alkali metal carbonate and a transition metal compound;
- a recovery unit for burning the aqueous phase and recovering an alkali metal carbonate or alkaline earth metal carbonate and a transition metal compound;
- a recycling unit for dissolving at least an alkali metal carbonate or an alkaline earth metal carbonate in water out of the recovered material obtained in the recovery unit and recycling it to the hydroperoxide decomposition unit;
- a system for producing ketones and / or alcohols are examples of the hydroperoxide decomposition unit.
- a hydroperoxide obtained by oxidizing a hydrocarbon compound with molecular oxygen can be rapidly decomposed with high selectivity to produce the desired ketone and / or alcohol.
- alkaline earth metal or alkali metal carbonate can be recovered and recycled in a high yield, an inexpensive method for producing the target ketone and / or alcohol can be provided.
- a method for producing a ketone at low cost can be provided.
- the hydroperoxide in the present invention is not particularly limited as long as it is a hydroperoxide of a hydrocarbon compound such as a chain hydrocarbon or an alicyclic hydrocarbon. Further, the hydrocarbon compound may have a substituent. Examples thereof include hydroperoxides of cycloalkanes having 5 to 20 carbon atoms such as cyclopentane, cyclohexane, cycloheptane, cyclooctane, cyclononane, cyclodecane, cyclododecane, cyclopentadecane, and cyclohexadecane.
- the mixture of the hydroperoxide obtained by co-oxidizing 2 or more types of hydrocarbon compounds may be sufficient.
- laurolactam and caprolactam which are raw materials of nylon 12 and nylon 6 can be produced together.
- Hydroperoxide can be produced by oxidizing the corresponding hydrocarbon compound with molecular oxygen in the absence or presence of a solvent.
- cycloalkyl hydroperoxide can be obtained by subjecting cycloalkane to liquid phase contact reaction with molecular oxygen such as air under the conditions of a reaction temperature of 120 to 180 ° C. and a reaction pressure of 1 to 20 atm.
- a raw material hydrocarbon compound benzene, toluene or the like can be used.
- this oxidation reaction solution can be used as it is or after being concentrated.
- the oxidation reaction of hydrocarbon compounds with molecular oxygen is generally performed at a low conversion rate.
- the reason why the conversion rate is kept low is to prevent the sequential oxidation of ketones and alcohols that are more easily oxidized than the hydrocarbon compound that is the starting material, and to prevent the by-production of higher-order oxides such as carboxylic acids.
- a transition metal compound such as cobalt, which is generally used as an oxidation catalyst, without the intention to add an oxidation reaction (called a non-catalytic oxidation method) or a stabilizer of hydride peroxide such as phosphoric acid diester
- a non-catalytic oxidation method oxidation reaction
- a stabilizer of hydride peroxide such as phosphoric acid diester
- Hydroperoxide is decomposed in a non-oxidizing atmosphere, but radical decomposition proceeds in the oil phase. Radical decomposition is poor in selectivity, and hydroperoxide decomposition selectivity is not high.
- the target ketone since the target ketone is present in a relatively high concentration in the oil phase, the oxidation of the ketone with hydroperoxide proceeds, and higher oxides are by-produced from the ketone, so the hydroperoxide is decomposed. The selectivity is further reduced.
- hydroperoxide is dissociated into its anion (ROO ⁇ ) in an alkaline aqueous solution having a pH of 13 or higher. Therefore, the distribution ratio D ([hydroperoxide concentration in oil phase] / [hydroperoxide concentration in water phase + hydroperoxyanion concentration]) decreases in the above pH range, and the hydroperoxide concentration in the oil phase is descend.
- hydroperoxy anion rapidly decomposes into the corresponding ketone and / or alcohol in an alkaline aqueous solution having a pH of 13 or higher.
- the hydroperoxide in the oil phase quickly moves into the alkaline water phase. Therefore, the overall decomposition rate of hydroperoxide (the rate of all processes of mass transfer, dissociation, and decomposition) is significantly accelerated. That is, hydroperoxide can be rapidly decomposed by contacting with a strong alkali having a pH of 13 or higher. An alkali metal hydroxide aqueous solution is used as the strong alkali having a pH of 13 or higher.
- K D of the ketone to hydrocarbon compounds and the corresponding and alcohol are generally large, these concentrations of alkaline aqueous phase is low. Therefore, there are few by-products generated when these compounds are oxidized to hydroperoxide, and the decomposition selectivity of hydroperoxide is high.
- a method of decomposing hydroperoxide while maintaining a high pH with as little alkali metal hydroxide as possible is the two-stage saponification process.
- the alkali metal hydroxide equivalent consumed in the neutralization and saponification reactions must be newly added. That is, the two-stage saponification process is excellent in terms of the overall decomposition rate and decomposition selectivity of hydroperoxide, but is not a satisfactory process in that the alkali metal hydroxide is consumed.
- the aqueous phase (waste alkali) discharged from the hydroperoxide decomposition step contains an alkali metal salt of carboxylic acid.
- the only common and industrially feasible method for recovering alkali metals from waste alkali is the combustion method.
- an alkali metal carbonate is obtained.
- alkali metal carbonates are thermally stable and are difficult to decompose into alkali metal oxides and carbon dioxide.
- the pH of the alkali metal carbonate aqueous solution is at most 12, which is lower than the pKa of hydroperoxide.
- the inventors have conducted intensive studies, and as a result, by adding a catalyst that accelerates the decomposition of hydroperoxide in an aqueous solution of an alkaline earth metal or an alkali metal carbonate, the decomposition reaction rate is increased. And invented a method to improve the overall degradation rate.
- the mass transfer rate constant of hydroperoxide from the oil phase to the alkaline aqueous phase is much larger than the hydroperoxide decomposition rate constant. Accordingly, even in a region where the pH is low, that is, a region where the hydroperoxide distribution ratio D is large, the overall decomposition rate can be improved by increasing the decomposition reaction rate of the hydroperoxide. That is, even when an alkali metal carbonate aqueous solution is used, a sufficient overall decomposition rate and decomposition selectivity can be obtained, and a method for producing a ketone and / or alcohol capable of recycling an alkali metal can be provided.
- the present invention reduces the hydrocarbon basic unit (weight of the hydrocarbon compound necessary for the production of the unit weight of the target ketone and alcohol) and the alkali basic unit (weight of the alkali metal necessary for the production of the unit weight of the target ketone and alcohol). Can be provided at the same time. Furthermore, since ketone is preferentially produced, the load of the alcohol-to-ketone conversion process can be reduced when obtaining the ketone.
- an aqueous solution of alkali metal carbonate or alkaline earth metal carbonate can be used, preferably alkali metal carbonate, and lithium carbonate, sodium carbonate, potassium carbonate and the like are particularly preferable.
- the concentration of the alkali metal carbonate or alkaline earth metal carbonate in the aqueous solution of the alkali metal carbonate or alkaline earth metal carbonate is not particularly limited as long as it is not more than the solubility, but in the case of sodium carbonate, 5% by weight. More than 30% by weight, preferably 15% by weight to 25% by weight is recommended.
- the aqueous solution may contain two or more kinds of alkali metal carbonates or alkaline earth metal carbonates, or may contain both alkali metal carbonates and alkaline earth metal carbonates.
- the amount of alkali used for the decomposition of hydroperoxide is not particularly limited as long as it is equal to or greater than the total amount of carboxylic acid and carboxylic acid ester in the oxidation reaction solution, but preferably 1.0 equivalent or greater. 0.0 equivalent or less, more preferably 1.05 equivalent or more and 1.3 equivalent or less.
- the amount of alkali used is too small, decomposition of hydroperoxide or ester may not proceed sufficiently, which is not preferable. If the amount of alkali used is excessive, a large amount of energy is wasted in the alkali recovery step and the alkali unit increases, which is not preferable.
- transition metal used as a hydroperoxide decomposition catalyst for example, elements belonging to Group 6A, Group 7A, Group 8 of the periodic table of elements are used (note that the names of groups and periods of these elements are “physical and chemical dictionary” "Iwanami Shoten, 4th Edition, 1993, Periodic Table of Elements in Appendix II (a) Based on long-period type).
- transition metals include chromium, manganese, iron, cobalt, nickel, copper, ruthenium, rhodium, palladium, and platinum.
- chromium, iron, cobalt, and copper are excellent in hydroperoxide decomposition activity, and cobalt is a suitable metal element.
- the transition metal is added to the hydroperoxide decomposition step as, for example, a mineral salt, carboxylate, carbonate, basic carbonate, hydroxide, oxide, or complex.
- a mineral salt for example, a mineral salt, carboxylate, carbonate, basic carbonate, hydroxide, oxide, or complex.
- mineral salts and carboxylates are preferable because of their high solubility in water and easy handling.
- the concentration of the transition metal in the alkaline phase is 0.1 ppm by weight to 1000 ppm by weight, preferably 1 ppm by weight or more. 100 ppm by weight or less. If the transition metal concentration is too low, a significant hydroperoxide decomposition acceleration effect cannot be obtained. Even if the transition metal concentration is too high, no further hydroperoxide decomposition acceleration effect is exhibited, and the transition metal catalyst is only wasted.
- the temperature in the hydroperoxide decomposition step is 80 ° C. or higher and 170 ° C. or lower, preferably 100 ° C. or higher and 150 ° C. or lower. If the temperature is too low, the hydrolysis rate of hydroperoxide and ester is slow, and a long reaction tank is required to complete the decomposition. On the other hand, when the temperature is too high, the decomposition selectivity of hydroperoxide is lowered, which is not preferable.
- the pH of the alkaline phase in the hydroperoxide decomposition step is important, for example, 7.5 to 12, preferably 9 to 11 is suitable.
- the hydroperoxide distribution ratio D is affected by pH, and the higher the pH, the lower the hydroperoxide distribution ratio D. That is, the hydroperoxide is easily distributed to the alkaline aqueous phase side.
- the transition metal compound forms a hydroxide in the alkaline aqueous phase, and its solubility is low. Hydroxide solubility increases with decreasing pH. Therefore, it is necessary to select an appropriate pH from the viewpoint of the distribution of hydroperoxide to the alkali phase and the solubility of the catalyst metal in the alkali phase, and the pH range is the above range.
- the residence time of the hydroperoxide decomposition step is essential to complete the decomposition of the hydroperoxide, and the temperature, type of catalyst and concentration in the alkali phase, pH of the alkali phase, oil / water ratio, oil / water
- a long residence time means that a long reactor is required, which is not preferable. Therefore, the reaction conditions are set so that the residence time is 2 hours or less, preferably 1 hour or less.
- the residence time is preferably set to 1 minute or longer for the purpose of controlling the reaction.
- Hydroperoxide decomposition equipment is not particularly limited, and hydroperoxide decomposition reaction and ester hydrolysis reaction using extraction towers such as perforated plate extraction tower, rotating disk extraction tower, pulsating perforated plate tower, vibration plate tower, etc.
- the oil / water separation which is the next step, may be performed in one apparatus, but an apparatus in which the reaction part and the liquid separation part are separated may be used. In the latter case, for example, a stirred tank reactor, a tube reactor, or a column reactor is used for the reaction portion. It is a preferable embodiment to insert a static mixer or the like immediately before the reactor for the purpose of mixing and dispersing oil / water.
- a settler for example, a centrifugal separator, a hydrocyclone, or the like is used for the liquid separation part.
- a static mixer for example, a static mixer, a tower reactor, and a settler is the simplest and most convenient apparatus.
- parts that promote liquid separation such as coalescers, may be installed inside the setler.
- the temperature in the reaction step and the liquid separation step may be different, but is generally the same temperature.
- the residence time in the waste alkali separation step is preferably shorter as long as the oil / water separation is completed, and is, for example, 1 minute to 60 minutes, preferably 1 minute to 30 minutes.
- the residence time is too short, operation control is difficult and separation of the oil phase and the water phase may be insufficient. If it is too long, a long apparatus is required, which is not preferable.
- the separated waste alkali is preferably incinerated in a combustion furnace together with auxiliary fuel.
- auxiliary fuel refined fossil fuel such as heavy oil may be used, but organic substance-containing waste liquid such as waste oil may be effectively used.
- the carboxylate in the waste alkali is recovered as an alkaline earth metal carbonate or alkali metal carbonate, dissolved in water, and recycled to the hydroperoxide decomposition step. In other words, this process recovers and recycles almost all of alkaline earth metal carbonates or alkali metal carbonates. Theoretically, alkaline earth metal carbonates or alkali metal carbonates are newly added. It is a process that is not necessary.
- Examples of the alkali recovery device include a submerged combustion device.
- the transition metal in the waste alkali is recovered as an oxide.
- the recovered transition metal oxide can be recycled to the hydroperoxide decomposition step together with the alkali metal carbonate, but if the transition metal oxide has low solubility in an alkaline aqueous solution and precipitation occurs, it will be recycled. It may be once separated from the aqueous alkali metal carbonate solution, dissolved again in mineral acid, etc., adjusted to an appropriate pH, and then recycled to the hydroperoxide decomposition step.
- inserting the waste alkali concentration step between the waste alkali separation step and the alkali recovery step has advantages such as reducing the fuel for combustion in the alkali recovery step and reducing the size of the combustion furnace. This is a preferred embodiment.
- Waste alkali is concentrated by thin film evaporation, flash evaporation, etc., and water is distilled off.
- the ketone and / or alcohol dissolved in a small amount in the waste alkali by concentration can be recovered together with the distilled water.
- the method of recycling a part of waste alkali and / or concentrated waste alkali to a hydroperoxide decomposition process is a preferable aspect.
- the waste alkali contains an alkali metal salt of carboxylic acid.
- the alkali metal salt of a long-chain carboxylic acid has a function as a surfactant and increases the mass transfer rate between hydroperoxide oil and water. Further, to reduce the K D of hydroperoxide increases the partition equilibrium concentration of hydroperoxide in the aqueous phase. Therefore, the overall decomposition rate of hydroperoxide is improved.
- alkaline earth or alkali metal salts of carboxylic acids improve the solubility of the transition metal hydroxide. That is, the effective catalyst concentration in the alkaline aqueous phase increases, and the decomposition reaction rate of hydroperoxide increases. These effects can improve the overall decomposition rate of hydroperoxide.
- the transition metal catalyst is also recycled together with the waste alkali and / or the concentrated waste alkali.
- the transition metal forms a hydroxide, and the catalytic activity of the hydroxide is higher than that of the oxide. Therefore, the recycling of waste alkali and / or concentrated waste alkali is more effective in reducing the amount of transition metal used than the process of circulating the recovered alkali after burning the entire amount of waste alkali.
- the recycling amount of waste alkali and / or concentrated waste alkali is, for example, 5% to 90%, preferably 10% to 80% of the total amount.
- the amount of recycling is too small, the recycling effect is not fully exhibited. If the amount is excessive, by-products accumulate in the waste alkali, which may cause problems in operation such as deposition on the reactor surface and blockage of the piping line.
- transition metal hydroxide when it precipitates, it may be separated by filtration and separately recycled to the hydroperoxide decomposition step.
- the oil phase (saponified liquid) separated in the waste alkali separation step is purified by a method such as distillation after recovering unreacted raw material hydrocarbon compound and / or oxidation reaction solvent, and ketone and / or Alcohol is acquired. Moreover, alcohol may be dehydrogenated if desired and only a ketone may be acquired.
- the ketone and / or alcohol production system of the present invention decomposes hydroperoxide in a reaction solution obtained by oxidizing a hydrocarbon compound with molecular oxygen, and has the same number of carbon atoms as the hydrocarbon compound.
- a hydroperoxide decomposition unit that contacts the reaction solution with an alkaline earth metal carbonate or an aqueous solution containing an alkali metal carbonate and a transition metal compound to decompose the hydroperoxide into the ketone and / or alcohol.
- a separation part that separates into an oil phase containing the ketone and / or alcohol and an aqueous phase containing an alkaline earth metal carbonate or an alkali metal carbonate and a transition metal compound;
- a recovery unit for burning the aqueous phase and recovering an alkali metal carbonate or alkaline earth metal carbonate and a transition metal compound;
- a recycling unit for dissolving at least an alkali metal carbonate or an alkaline earth metal carbonate in water out of the recovered material obtained in the recovery unit and recycling it to the hydroperoxide decomposition unit; including.
- the hydroperoxide decomposition part contacts an oxidation reaction solution with an alkaline earth metal carbonate or an aqueous solution containing an alkali metal carbonate and a transition metal compound, and decomposes the hydroperoxide into the ketone and / or alcohol. Including a decomposition tank.
- Alkali recovery part A combustion furnace for burning waste alkali and recovering an alkali metal carbonate or alkaline earth metal carbonate and a transition metal compound is included.
- a dissolution tank for dissolving the recovered alkali in water and a pipe for recycling an aqueous solution of the recovered alkali to the hydroperoxide decomposition section are included.
- Cyclohexanol (CxOL) and by-products were analyzed by gas chromatography and total organic carbon meter, and determined by the following formula.
- the solvent consumption (mole) was obtained by subtracting the total molar amount of CHP, CxON, and CxOL before the reaction from the total molar amount of CHP, CxON, CxOL, and by-products (molar amount converted to carbon number 6) after the reaction. Molar amount.
- the consumption amount of other peroxide is the consumption amount of peroxide containing a cyclohexane ring detected by gas chromatography
- the other CxONOL precursor amount is 17% by weight after treating the oxidation reaction solution with triphenylphosphine.
- the aqueous solution of sodium carbonate was added and heated at 155 ° C. for 2 hours, and the cyclohexyl peroxide consumption and other peroxide consumption were subtracted from the increase in cyclohexanone and the increase in cyclohexanol.
- a cyclohexane solution containing 20% by weight of cyclohexyl hydroperoxide, 10% by weight of cyclohexanone, and 20% by weight of cyclohexanol was injected into the mixed solution, and a sample was taken at a predetermined time, and cyclohexyl hydroperoxide was collected. The degradation rate was measured.
- the overall decomposition rate constant of cyclohexyl hydroperoxide was 0.063 (1 / min), and the decomposition rate after 20 minutes was 78.4%.
- the pH of the aqueous phase before the reaction was 10.7 after the 11.9 reaction.

Abstract
Description

しかし、ハイドロパーオキサイドの油水分配平衡定数KD([油相中のハイドロパーオキサイド濃度]/[水相中のハイドロパーオキサイド濃度])は大きく、ハイドロパーオキサイドは水相に分配し難い。
そのため、上記pH領域では分配比D([油相中のハイドロパーオキサイド濃度]/[水相中のハイドロパーオキサイド+ハイドロパーオキシアニオン濃度])が低下し、油相中のハイドロパーオキサイド濃度は低下する。
