Abstract

The invention relates to a method for producing a netting for protecting building surfaces against insects, in particular termites, said netting being characterized by the following steps: preparing a mixture of flexible natural and/or synthetic fibers and water in a pulper; spreading out a sheet of said mixture on an essentially horizontal, perforated conveyor belt, forming a filter, so as to remove a large portion of the water contained in the sheet; transferring said sheet into a padder or a size press so as to soak same with a polymer composition containing between 0.01 and 10 wt % of an insecticidal agent; and transferring the thus-treated sheet into a drying station so as to produce a continuous, solid, and flexible protective netting containing the insecticidal agent.

Description

The present invention relates to a process for obtaining a protective veil of building surfaces against insects and in particular termites.
Currently, the termite protection of the frame before construction is achieved by the use of the following methods: sprinkling, spraying or spreading liquid products containing a dose of insecticidal agent.
Another method that has already been proposed is to unwind on the surface to be protected a plastic film in which an insecticidal agent is integrated.
Such films are made by impregnating the plastic with the insecticidal agent or by hot mixing the insecticidal agent with the molten plastic material.
Such films are not without disadvantages insofar as obtaining them by hot mixing entails risks of evaporation of the insecticidal agent that may be detrimental to the environment.
In addition, the impregnation process requires the handling of a film from which the insecticide can be extracted, thus posing a danger to the personnel in charge of handling.
The present invention aims to overcome these disadvantages.
For this purpose, it proposes a method for obtaining a protective veil of building surfaces against insects and in particular termites characterized by the succession of steps consisting of:
- préparer dans un pulpeur un mélange de fibres naturelles et/ ou synthétiques souples et d'eau  - prepare in a pulper a mixture of natural fibers and / or synthetic soft and water
- étaler une nappe de ce mélange sur une bande transporteuse perforée essentiellement horizontale formant filtre de façon à éliminer une grande partie de l'eau qu'elle contient,  spread a sheet of this mixture on a substantially horizontal perforated perforated conveyor belt so as to eliminate a large part of the water which it contains,
- faire passer cette nappe dans un foulard ou une size press de façon à l'imprégner d'une composition polymère renfermant entre 0,01 % et 10 % en poids d'un agent insecticide, et  - passing this web in a scarf or a size press so as to impregnate a polymer composition containing between 0.01% and 10% by weight of an insecticidal agent, and
It is essential that the protective veil obtained by carrying out the process according to the invention consists of a single, uniformly impregnated layer of the polymer composition containing the insecticide, and that this method is implemented on-line, in one step.
According to the invention, the insecticide may advantageously be chosen from common termicides.
In particular, the following insecticidal agents may be used: bifenthrin, chlorfenapyr, fipronil or permethrin.
Prior to the incorporation of the insecticidal agent in the polymer composition, it may be advantageous to put it in solution in the aqueous phase, or to predisperse it in a plasticizer so as to facilitate its incorporation into the polymer composition.
According to the invention the veil can be constituted by a nonwoven based on cellulose fibers, polymer fibers and / or glass fibers.
The polymeric fibers may advantageously be made of polyester fibers, polyethylene fibers, polyamide fibers or mixtures of such fibers.
According to the invention, the impregnating polymer composition may consist of a dispersion of acrylic, styrene acrylic, vinyl and / or styrene-butadiene polymers.
The polymeric composition may also include conventional additives such as calcareous or siliceous fillers, dispersing agents, defoamers, thickeners or wetting agents.
The protective veil obtained according to the invention can be used in the building in the same way as the conventional plastic insecticide films to protect the building surfaces by unwinding the les of this veil on these surfaces.
After the installation of this veil, a concrete slab can be directly cast on it.
It is furthermore particularly advantageous in accordance with the invention to subject this protective veil to a treatment making it possible to improve its hydrophobicity and thus to prevent capillary rise in the concrete through it and to improve the waterproofness of the foundations. As a result, the veil makes it possible to obtain good vapor permeability because of its porosity, thus favoring the drying of the concrete slab, and at the same time a hydrophobicity of a nature to prevent the passage of water and the capillary rise.
To obtain such a hydrophobic character, it may be envisaged, according to another characteristic of the invention, to add to the impregnating polymer composition a hydrophobic agent such as a hydrophobic polymer.
This hydrophobic polymer may advantageously be chosen from silicones and / or fluoropolymers.
Another particularly advantageous possibility consists in subjecting the protection film, after the drying step, thus in line, to a treatment with a plasma cloud in which a fluorinated compound or a silicone in gaseous form is injected so as to make it hydrophobic.
The invention also relates to a protective veil obtained by the implementation of the aforementioned method.
Such a protective veil, applied to the building surfaces before construction and pouring of a concrete slab can protect these surfaces against insects and especially termites.
This protective veil also allows capillary lifts to be avoided in the cast concrete slab.
The characteristics of the process and the protective veil which are the subject of the invention will be described in more detail with reference to the examples below of impregnating polymer compositions.
