Abstract
Description
[第1の実施形態]
図1は、本発明の第1の実施形態である高圧放電ランプ装置1のブロック図を示す。
<点灯装置の構成>
点灯装置3は、主な構成として、DC/DCコンバータ5、DC/ACインバータ6、高電圧発生部7、ランプ電流検出部8、ランプ電圧検出部9および制御部10を備えている。また、制御部10は、マイコン11およびPWM(Pulse Width Modulation)制御回路12を備えている。
<高圧水銀ランプの構成>
次に、高圧水銀ランプ4の概略構成について図2を参照して説明する。
<ランプユニットの構成>
このような高圧水銀ランプ4は、図4に示すように、反射鏡26内に組み込まれてランプユニット27を構成する。
<交流電流の波形例>
図5は、点灯装置3から出力される交流電流の一例を示す波形図である。
<点灯装置の動作>
それでは、第1の実施形態に係る点灯装置3の動作の一例について、図6のフローチャートを参照して説明する。
《始動点灯動作》
高圧水銀ランプ4を放電開始させるための点灯スイッチ(図示せず)がオンされると、マイコン11は、始動点灯動作を行う(S11)。始動点灯動作では、高電圧発生部7に例えば3[kV]、100[kHz]の高周波の高電圧を発生させる。この高周波の高電圧が高圧水銀ランプ4に印加されると、電極間において絶縁破壊が起こり、放電が開始される。この放電を安定させるウォームアップ期間として、例えば2[s]間、1[kHz]以上500[kHz]以下の範囲内から選択される高周波電流の定電流制御を行う。ウォームアップ期間が経過すれば、いわゆる始動点灯動作が完了する。
《定常点灯移行動作》
始動点灯動作(S11)後、マイコン11は、定常点灯移行動作を行う(S12)。ここでは、先ず、所定の周波数(例えば135[Hz])の略矩形波電流の定電流制御(例えば5.5[A])を行う。次に、ランプ電圧が水銀の蒸発に伴って上昇し、所定の電圧(例えば65[V])に到達すると、前記と同じ所定の周波数の略矩形波電流の、定電力制御(360[W])に切り替えられる。この定電力制御を、所定の時間(例えば100[s])が経過するまで続ける。ここでの所定の時間(100[s])は、ランプ内のガス圧が十分に安定した状態になって定常点灯動作に移行できる時間であればよく、ランプの仕様等により適宜選択することができる。
《定常点灯動作》
定常点灯移行動作(S12)後、マイコン11は、定常点灯動作に移行し(S13~S20)、図5に示す波形の交流電流を発生させるため、周波数および大きさを切り替える制御を始める。
<周波数および電流の大きさ等の設定範囲>
このような周波数f1,f2、AおよびB期間の長さ、電流値I1に対する電流値I2の比率r、ならびに電流値I2電流を供給する期間a2の長さは、次のように設定される。
《A期間およびB期間における作用効果》
上記範囲内において、周波数f1のA期間と、周波数f2のB期間とを交互に繰り返すようにして、高圧水銀ランプ4に交流電流を供給した場合には、A期間では電極19の突起部23に成長作用を与え、B期間では電極19の突起部23に減退作用を与えることができる。
《電流値I2の作用効果》
また、上記のA期間とB期間との交互の繰り返しの中で、低周波数である周波数f1のA期間において、図5に示すように、期間a1の電流の大きさを電流値I1とし、残りの期間a2の電流の大きさを電流値I1よりも大きい電流値I2とした場合、電極19の突起部23を適正に形成、維持する作用を損なうことなく、突起部23の土台となる先端部22に対してもタングステンの堆積作用を与えることができる。これにより、先端部22が損耗するのを抑制することができ、その結果、電極間距離Dが拡大するのを抑制することができる。
《各範囲の設定理由》
次に、周波数f1,f2、AおよびB期間の長さ、電流値I1に対する電流値I2の比率r、ならびに電流値I2電流を供給する期間a2の長さを、上記範囲内に設定した理由について説明する。
<点灯試験結果>
次に、図5に示す波形の交流電流の作用効果を確認するための点灯試験結果について説明する。
[第2の実施形態]
図12は、第2の実施形態に係る点灯装置3から出力される交流電流の一例を示す波形図である。
<点灯装置の動作>
次に、第2の実施形態に係る点灯装置3の動作の一例について、図13のフローチャートを参照して説明する。
<点灯試験結果>
次に、図12に示す波形の交流電流の作用効果を確認するための点灯試験結果について説明する。
[第3の実施形態]
図16は、第3の実施形態に係る点灯装置3から出力される交流電流の一例を示す波形図である。
<点灯装置の動作>
次に、第3の実施形態に係る点灯装置3の動作の一例について、図17のフローチャートを参照して説明する。
<プロジェクタ>
次に、第4の実施形態に係るプロジェクタについて、図18~図20を参照して説明する。
例えば、以下のような変形例が考えられる。
<変形例>
(1)上記実施形態では、電流値I2電流を供給する期間a2,b2,c2が周波数f2の半周期1単位分の長さの構成を示したが、これに限定するものではない。期間a2,b2をそれぞれ周波数f2の半周期2単位以上の長さにすることもできる。例えば、図21(a)は、期間a2,b2をそれぞれ周波数f2の半周期2単位分の長さにしている。この場合、一対の電極の先端部が損耗するのを抑制する効果が高まり、ランプの設計によっては効果的に電極間距離が拡大するのを抑制することができる。なお、期間b2を周波数f2の半周期単位の長さの自然数倍にした場合、B期間内において、周波数f2の極性反転タイミングに合わせて電流値I1から電流値I2に切替えることができるので、極性反転タイミングと電流値の切替えとがずれる場合と比べて、ランプの輝度の変化が人の目に感じられてちらつきと認識される弊害を抑制することができる。
(2)上記実施形態では、繰り返し間隔αが一定である構成を示したが、異なる時間間隔を複数組合せた構成としてもよい。図21(b)では、電流値I2電流が周波数f2の半周期の長さの自然数倍の時間を空けて供給されるグループとして繰り返される。ここで、繰り返し間隔は1つのグループを構成するα1と各グループを繰り返すα2の組合せとなっている。この場合、一対の電極の先端部が損耗するのを抑制する効果が高まり、ランプの設計によっては効果的に電極間距離が拡大するのを抑制することができる。さらに、各々のB期間内に前記グループが2つ以上含まれており、一つの前記グループの終期とその次の前記グループの始期との間の時間長さが、前記第2の周波数の半周期の長さの偶数倍であるので、各々のB期間内で正極性と負極性のグループが交互に現れて、一対の電極に供給する交流電流の作用のバランスをとることができる。なお、図21(b)では、電流値I2の電流が周波数f2の半周期の長さの1倍の時間を空けて2回供給されて1つのグループを構成し、各々のA期間内に前記グループが1つ、そして、各々のB期間内に前記グループが4つ含まれており、前記グループは正極性と負極性が交互に現れて、一つの前記グループの終期とその次の前記グループの始期との間の時間長さが、前記第2の周波数の半周期の長さの4倍になっている。ここで繰り返し間隔α1は周波数f2の半周期の長さの2倍であり、繰り返し間隔α2は周波数f2の半周期の長さの7倍となっている。
(3)上記実施形態では、B期間内において、電流値I2の電流を繰り返す間隔は周波数f2の半周期の7単位分の時間長さであるが、繰り返し間隔を限定するものではない。ランプの仕様等に応じて、繰り返し間隔を適宜選択することができる。なお、繰り返し間隔を周波数f2の半周期の奇数倍にすれば、上記実施形態と同様、電流値I2電流における正極性と負極性とが交互に現れるようにすることができる。
(4)上記実施形態では、A期間において、電流値I2電流を供給する期間a2が当該A期間の始期から開始する構成を示したが、これに限定するものではない。例えば、図22(a)に示すように、A期間の真ん中の時点から期間a2が開始する構成、または、図22(b)に示すように、A期間の終期に合わせて期間a2が終了する構成、さらには、図22(c)に示すように、各々のA期間に期間a2が2回含まれていて、一方がA期間の始期から開始し、他方がA期間の終期に合わせて終了する構成とすることもできる。なお、図22(a)、(b)および(c)において、期間a2および期間b2との間、および一の期間b2と次の期間b2との間が一定の繰り返し間隔αとなるように構成されている。また、図22(c)の波形の交流電流において、例えば、A期間における交流電流の周波数を46[Hz]、B期間における交流電流の周波数368[Hz]、A期間の長さを0.5周期、およびB期間の長さを17周期とすることができる。
(5)また、期間a2および期間b2の長さを、図23(a)に示すように、周波数f2の半周期の1単位の長さよりも小さく設定することができる。この場合、B期間において、期間b2の開始または終了を周波数f2の極性反転タイミングに合わせことで、期間b2の開始および終了の両方のタイミングが極性反転タイミングとずれる場合と比べて、ランプがちらつくのを抑制することができる。
(6)上記実施形態では、第2の電流が1つの電流値I2からなる構成を示したが、第2の電流が複数の電流値からなる構成としてもよい。具体的には、図23(b)に示すように、A期間における第2の電流の電流値をI2、B期間における第2の電流の電流値をI3およびI4とすることができる。図23(b)に示す各電流値は、I2が最も大きく、I4が最も小さく、I3がその中間の大きさに設定されている。このように、第2の電流を複数の電流値で構成することにより、電極の先端部に与えるタングステンの堆積作用およびその効果を細かく調整することができる。なお、図23(b)においては、電流値が最も大きいI2と、最も小さいI4との間に、中間の大きさのI3が含まれるようにしている。これにより、第2の電流を供給する度に、その電流値が変化することによって生じるランプのちらつきが、人の目に感じ難くしている。
(7)上記実施形態では、A期間とB期間とを交互に繰り返して、交流電流の周波数を第1の周波数と第2の周波数とに切り替える構成が示されているが、当該周波数の切り替えを、例えば第4の周波数や第5の周波数などを加えて、3つ以上の値で切り替える構成としてもよい。ここで、C期間がある場合は、C期間が繰り返す所定の時間間隔の間に、前記3つ以上の値で切り替える構成が含まれる。
(8)第3の実施形態では、各C期間の前後にB期間を設けるように制御する構成が示されているが、これに限らず、各C期間の前後のうち少なくとも一方をA期間とするように制御する構成としても良い。
(9)上記各実施形態では、高圧水銀ランプとして定格電力360[W]の高圧水銀ランプ4を用いた場合について説明したが、これに限らず定格電力が例えば80[W]以上1000[W]以下の範囲内の高圧水銀ランプを用いた場合でも上記と同様の作用効果を得ることができる。
(10)上記各実施形態では、高圧放電ランプとして具体的に高圧水銀ランプ4を用いた場合について説明したが、これに限らず公知のショートアーク型のメタルハライドランプ等を用いた場合でも上記と同様の作用効果を得ることができる。しかしながら、特に、水銀の封入量が150[mg/cm3]以上390[mg/cm3]以下の範囲内で、かつハロゲン物質の封入量が1×10-10[mol/cm3]以上1×10-4[mol/cm3]以下の範囲内で、かつ電極間距離が0.5[mm]以上2.0[mm]以下の範囲内である高圧水銀ランプを用いた場合において本発明の作用効果を顕著に発揮することができる。その理由は、上記設計の高圧水銀ランプはランプ点灯中の電極材料の蒸発量が多く、またハロゲンサイクルによって電極材料が電極に戻って堆積する量も多いため、本発明の点灯方法ならびに点灯装置で点灯させることによる電極形状制御の影響が大きく現れるためである。
(11)近時、この種の高圧放電ランプ装置1には、段階的にランプ電力を切り替える調光機能が付与されているものがある。つまり、通常モードではランプ電力を定格電力(例えば360[W])に一定にして定電力制御を行うが、調光モードではランプ電力を20[%]ダウンの設定に切り替えて例えば288[W]に一定にして定電力制御を行うというものである。各実施形態にかかる高圧放電ランプ装置1がこのように調光機能を有する場合、上記した「定電力」とは通常モードに設定されているときはその通常モードの定電力を、調光モードに設定されているときはその調光モードの定電力をそれぞれ指すものとする。
(12)上記各実施形態では、点灯装置の動作をマイコン等の演算処理装置を用いた形態(ソフトウェア)で実現する構成を示したが、これに限定するものではなく、アナログ回路や論理回路等で制御ロジック等を構成した形態(ハードウェア)で実現することもできる。

Claims (18)
- 内部に、ハロゲン物質が封入され、かつ先端部に突起部が形成されてなる一対の電極が対向配置されている発光管を有する高圧放電ランプに対して交流電流を供給して点灯させる高圧放電ランプ点灯装置であって、
前記高圧放電ランプに供給する交流電流の周波数を、入力された周波数制御信号に従って、第1の周波数と、第1の周波数より高い第2の周波数とのいずれかに切り替える周波数切替部と、
前記交流電流の大きさを、入力された電流制御信号に従って、第1の電流と、第1の電流よりも大きい第2の電流とのいずれかに切り替える電流切替部と、
前記周波数切替部に当該周波数制御信号を入力し、かつ前記電流切替部に当該電流制御信号を入力してこれらを制御する制御部とを備え、
前記制御部は、
前記第1の周波数の交流電流を供給するA期間と、前記第2の周波数の交流電流を供給するB期間とを交互に繰り返す期間を含むように前記周波数切替部を制御するとともに、
前記A期間内では、前記第1の周波数の交流電流の半周期において、一部の期間で前記第2の電流を供給して、残りの期間で前記第1の電流を供給するように前記電流切替部を制御する
ことを特徴とする高圧放電ランプ点灯装置。 - 前記制御部が、さらに、前記B期間内に前記第2の周波数の交流電流の半周期を1単位として2単位以上含まれるようにし、かつ、そのうちの一部の半周期では前記第2の電流を供給して、残りの半周期では第1の電流を供給するように前記電流切替部を制御する
ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の高圧放電ランプ点灯装置。 - 前記第2の電流の供給が、規則的に繰り返されている
ことを特徴とする請求項2に記載の高圧放電ランプ点灯装置。 - 前記第2の電流の供給を繰り返す間隔が、1[ms]以上20[ms]以下の範囲である
ことを特徴とする請求項3に記載の高圧放電ランプ点灯装置。 - 各々の前記A期間における前記第1の周波数の半周期中に、前記第2の電流が1回または複数回供給されていて、
各々の前記B期間内には、正極性の前記第2の電流と、負極性の前記第2の電流とがそれぞれ供給されている
ことを特徴とする請求項3に記載の高圧放電ランプ点灯装置。 - 前記第2の電流を供給する1回当たりの時間長さが、前記第2の周波数における半周期の長さの自然数倍である
ことを特徴とする請求項3に記載の高圧放電ランプ点灯装置。 - 各々の前記A期間における前記第1の周波数の半周期中に、前記第2の電流が1回または複数回供給されていて、
前記第1の周波数の半周期中における前記第2の電流を供給する時間の合計が、前記第1の周波数の交流電流における0.25周期以下の長さである
ことを特徴とする請求項3に記載の高圧放電ランプ点灯装置。 - 前記第2の電流が、前記第2の周波数の半周期の長さの自然数倍の時間を空けて供給されるグループとして繰り返され、かつ各々のB期間内に前記グループが2つ以上含まれている
ことを特徴とする請求項3に記載の高圧放電ランプ点灯装置。 - 一つの前記グループの終期とその次の前記グループの始期との間の時間長さが、前記第2の周波数の半周期の長さの偶数倍である
ことを特徴とする請求項8に記載の高圧放電ランプ点灯装置。 - 各々の前記B期間において、前記第2の電流が供給される半周期の単位数が、当該B期間に含まれる半周期の全単位数の半分以下である
ことを特徴とする請求項3に記載の高圧放電ランプ点灯装置。 - 前記第2の電流の大きさが、前記第1の電流の大きさの2倍以下である
ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の高圧放電ランプ点灯装置。 - 前記周波数切替部が、さらに、前記第1の周波数以下の第3の周波数に切り替え可能に構成されてなり、
前記制御部は、前記第3の周波数の交流電流を供給するC期間を前記A期間よりも長くしかつ所定の時間間隔で繰り返すとともに、一の前記C期間とその次の前記C期間との間に、前記A期間と前記B期間とを交互に繰り返すように、前記周波数切替部を制御する

前記第1の周波数の交流電流を供給するA期間と、前記第2の周波数の交流電流を供給するB期間とを交互に繰り返すとともに、前記A期間内で、前記第1の周波数の交流電流の半周期において、一部の期間に前記第2の電流を供給し、残りの期間に前記第1の電流を供給する
ことを特徴とする高圧放電ランプの点灯方法。 - 前記交流電流の周波数を、さらに、前記第1の周波数以下の第3の周波数に切り替えるに際し、
前記周波数を、前記第3の周波数に所定の時間間隔で切り替えて、前記第3の値の交流電流を供給するC期間を前記A期間よりも長くしかつ前記所定の時間間隔で繰り返すとともに、
一の前記C期間とその次の前記C期間との間に、前記A期間と、前記B期間とを交互に繰り返す
ことを特徴とする請求項15に記載の高圧放電ランプの点灯方法。 - 前記所定の時間間隔の間において、
前記C期間の後を前記B期間とし、その後、前記A期間と、前記B期間とを交互に繰り返し、最後を前記B期間とする
