Abstract

A technique relating to a PDP device for proposing a new method and realizing improvement in gradation display performance and panel driving characteristics and improvement in performance of a power system. In the PDP device, driving circuits (Dy, Dx) for a first electrode (Y) and a second electrode (X) are constituted by a driver IC with a maintenance driving voltage pulse output function and arranged separately corresponding to odd and even electrodes, and address driving and sustain driving are concurrently performed. The driving circuit in a second electrode (X) side does not require an externally provided circuit. Further, the circuit is constituted by the same driver IC only. Thus, the connection of a driver IC output wiring to a panel can be simplified.
