Definitions
- the invention relates to a high-pressure fuel accumulator, in particular for common-rail injection systems, and to a fuel pump with such a high-pressure fuel accumulator.
- EP 0 866 221 AI a high-pressure fuel accumulator is known, which consists essentially of a drawn or rolled tube. Radially arranged connection nipples are welded or soldered to the circumference of the fuel distributor. The front open ends of the tube are each closed with a closure element. In order to guarantee a secure seal at high system pressures of up to 1800 bar, special designs of the locking element are required. To this end, EP 0 866 221 AI proposes to provide the closure element with an additional sealing ball. By tightening the threaded plug, the sealing ball is pressed into the sealing seat of the high-pressure fuel accumulator. The sealing ball has a greater hardness than the sealing seat, which deforms it and ensures a tight fit. Due to pressure fluctuations within the pressure accumulator and the appearance of the thread, there may still be leaks in the high-pressure fuel accumulator.
- the object of the invention is therefore to create a high-pressure fuel accumulator which, with simple and inexpensive production, ensures a secure seal of the high-pressure fuel accumulator.
- the invention is characterized in that the pressure chamber is designed as a blind hole or as a through hole and is closed with a tie rod or a tie rod nut connection.
- the tie rod is screwed on with a high torque.
- a tensile stress acts in the tie rod, which always ensures a secure seal of the pressure chamber even in the event of pressure fluctuations.
- the pressure chamber volume can be adapted to the respective requirements. It is therefore no longer necessary to produce a high-pressure fuel reservoir with the appropriate pressure chamber volume for each engine variant. This significantly reduces the manufacturing costs of the high-pressure fuel accumulator.
- a component is arranged on or around the tie rod in order to adapt the pressure chamber volume.
- both the pressure accumulator itself and the tie rod can be of the same design for each engine variant and only one additional component is required in each case. There are no special requirements for this component with regard to its strength, so that it can be manufactured particularly cost-effectively.
- the tie rod has a sealing cone on its head which, in the assembled state, bears against a sealing cone which is complementary in a first end opening in the housing.
- a sealing cone which is complementary in a first end opening in the housing.
- the clamping nut also has a sealing cone which, in the assembled state, bears against a sealing cone which is of complementary design in a second end opening in the housing. So- also ensures a safe and simple seal between the clamping nut and the front opening in the housing.
- an additional seal is arranged between the housing and the tie rod, or between the housing and the clamping nut. This prevents any leakage stream that may escape through the metal seal from escaping from the high-pressure fuel accumulator.
- An elastomer seal for example in the form of a simple O-ring seal, is preferably suitable as an additional seal.
- the high-pressure fuel reservoir is in the housing
- FIG. 1 shows an exemplary embodiment of the high-pressure fuel accumulator in a sectional view in the assembled state
- FIG. 2 shows a further sectional illustration of the high-pressure fuel reservoir shown in FIG. 1 in the unassembled state
- FIG. 3 shows a second exemplary embodiment of a high-pressure fuel reservoir in a sectional view in the assembled state
- FIG. 1 shows an embodiment of the high-pressure fuel accumulator 1.
- the high-pressure fuel accumulator 1 essentially consists of the housing 2 with a pressure chamber 3.
- the pressure chamber 3 is designed as a through hole.
- the pressure chamber 3 has an inlet 4 and four outlets 5 (two of which are visible in the sectional view).
- the inlet 4 and the outlets 5 open radially into the pressure chamber 3.
- the front openings of the high-pressure fuel accumulator 1 are closed with a tie rod nut connection 6, 7.
- the tie rod 6 is inserted, essentially axially, through the pressure chamber 3 and screwed to a nut 7 on the opposite side.
- the tie rod 6 has a sealing cone 8 on its head which, in the assembled state, bears against a sealing cone 9 which is complementary in the housing of the high-pressure fuel accumulator 2.
- the nut 7 also has a sealing cone 10 which, in the assembled state, bears against a further sealing cone 11 which is complementary in the housing of the fuel accumulator 2.
- the tie rod 6 and the nut 7 each have an annular groove for receiving an additional seal 12, 13.
- an O-ring can be used as an additional seal.
- the additional seals 12, 13 prevent a leakage flow that possibly escapes through the metallic seal from escaping from the pressure chamber 3.
- the annular pressure chamber 3 ie the pressure chamber volume of the high-pressure fuel accumulator
- the annular pressure chamber 3 can be varied and adapted to the respective requirements.
- a special high-pressure accumulator does not have to be produced for each engine variant, but only a tie rod with a corresponding diameter must be used.
- a simple sleeve is suitable as a component. No particular requirements are placed on the sleeve with regard to its strength, since it only defines the pressure chamber volume, but does not have to absorb tensile stresses.
- the use of a sleeve has the additional advantage that both the same housing and the same tie rod can be used for all desired pressure chamber volumes. This results in a very cost-effective production of the high-pressure fuel accumulator with high flexibility of the system.
- FIG. 2 shows a further section through the high-pressure fuel accumulator 1 in another section plane.
- the high-pressure fuel accumulator is shown in the unmounted state.
- Two relief bores 15 are provided in the area of the sealing cones 9, 11. Any leakage flow that may occur can be discharged via the relief bores 15.
- the relief bores are connected to the low pressure area of the fuel injection system or lead directly into the fuel tank. As a result, there can be no pressure increase in front of the additional seals 12, 13 (see FIG. 1) and thus damage to these seals.
- FIG. 3 shows a second exemplary embodiment of the high-pressure fuel accumulator 1.
- the exemplary embodiment essentially corresponds to the high-pressure fuel accumulator according to FIG. 1.
- the tie rod however, not clamped with a nut, but screwed directly to the housing 2 of the high-pressure fuel accumulator.
- the exemplary embodiment corresponds to the exemplary embodiment according to FIGS. 1 and 2, to the description of which reference is made here.
- FIG. 4 shows a high-pressure fuel pump 18 in which the high-pressure fuel reservoir 1 according to the invention is integrated directly into the housing 19 of the fuel pump.
- the pump housing 19 can remain essentially unchanged, since the design of the pump housing 19 as a high-pressure-resistant component provides sufficient material reserves at certain points in the pump housing in order to integrate the high-pressure fuel accumulator 1.
- High-pressure fuel outlets 17 are formed on the high-pressure fuel accumulator 1 and are each connected to the individual injectors of the internal combustion engine.
- the integration of the high-pressure fuel accumulator 1 in the fuel pump 18 results in a very compact design of the fuel injection system.
- the costly manufacture of an additional high-pressure fuel accumulator is eliminated.
- a connection plateau 16 is provided on the housing of the high-pressure fuel reservoir.
- FIG. 5 shows a detailed view of the fuel pump according to FIG. 4.
- a connection bore 20 between the pressure chamber 3 and the bore for receiving the pump shaft 21.
- a pressure relief valve 22 is arranged in the connection bore 20. When a certain opening pressure of the pressure relief valve is exceeded, the fuel can flow out of the pressure chamber 3 via the pressure relief valve. The fuel can flow back into the low-pressure region of the fuel injection system via a fuel return line 23 which is introduced in the bore for receiving the pump shaft 21.
- the pressure relief valve 22 can be configured as a simple mechanical pressure relief valve. be educated. The use of an additional pressure control valve on the high-pressure pump or on the pressure accumulator, as is usually used in injection systems, can be dispensed with. This results in significant cost savings and simplifications of the entire system.
- the invention thus relates to a high-pressure fuel accumulator, the end openings of which are securely and inexpensively closed by a tie rod or a tie rod nut connection.
- the pressure chamber volume can be adapted to the respective requirements in a very simple and cost-effective manner without additional changes to the high-pressure fuel reservoir itself being necessary.
- the integration of the high-pressure fuel accumulator in the existing space of a fuel pump results in a very compact design. Due to the additional integration of a pressure relief valve, the use of an otherwise necessary pressure control valve on the high-pressure fuel pump or the high-pressure accumulator can be dispensed with. Overall, this results in a very compact fuel injection system, which can be adapted very variably to the respective requirements and which ensures a secure seal of the high-pressure fuel accumulator with inexpensive manufacture.
- the invention is not limited to the exemplary embodiments shown in the figures.
- the high-pressure fuel accumulator which is integrated in the fuel pump, only as a distributor rail and, in addition, to use further high-pressure fuel accumulators.
