Abstract

L'invention concerne un agent de décomposition comprenant un composé aluminium, un composé lanthanide et éventuellement un composé terre alcaline, en tant que composants actifs, ainsi qu'un procédé pour décomposer des fluorures de soufre, lequel consiste à mettre en contact un gaz contenant un fluorure de soufre avec l'agent de décomposition tout en le chauffant, ou bien à mettre en contact le gaz avec un agent de décomposition doté d'un composé aluminium comme composant actif, puis à mettre en contact un agent constitué par un oxyde de lanthanide et un oxyde métallique de terre alcaline en tant que composants actifs. Ce procédé permet de décomposer des fluorures de soufre tels que SF6, contenus dans les effluents gazeux dégagés par la fabrication de semi-conducteurs ou analogue, et ce, en peu de temps, à une température relativement basse, inférieure ou égale à 1000 °C, pour obtenir un pourcentage de décomposition de 99,9 % ou plus, sans désactiver l'agent de décomposition et sans rejeter de gaz corrosif tel que l'oxyde de soufre, le fluorure d'hydrogène ou un gaz similaire.
