Abstract

The umbrella/sunshade proposed has a shade (8) supported by struts (4) mounted in hinges in a fixation head (6) fitted on a central stand (1, 2) connected by hinged cross-struts (5) to the struts (4). The cross-struts (5) are hinged to a fixation element (7) which can be moved with respect to the fixation head (6). The stand (1, 2) comprises two telescoping tubes (1, 2), the inner tube (2) being fixed to the fixation head (6) and the outer tube (1) to the fixation element (7). The outer tube (1) is longer at the bottom than the inner tube (2) and is held in a pedestal (21). When the umbrella/sunshade is unfolded, the inner tube (2) is held in place longitudinally relative to the outer tube (1) by means of a locking pin (3). The umbrella/sunshade can be opened and closed by pulling a cord or rod, or by a motor drive.
