DESIGN FOR FANCY CASSIMERE FABRICS.
Specification forming part of Design No. 9,288,
dated May 16, 1876; application filed May 6, 1876.
[Term of Patent 7 years] -figure made up of longitudinal and transverse shade-lines, with a checkered figure located in the rectangular spaces formed by the intersecting stripes which compose the plaid.
A A represent the stripes which run lengthwise of the fabric, and B B the stripes which run crosswise of the same. These stripes are each composed of a number of lines, a a, which are parallel to each other, and are placed at varying distances apart, so as to give a shaded efiect to the stripe.
Rectangular spaces are formed by the intersection of the stripes A and B. These spaces are filled with a checkered figure, O, the effect of which is to give a shaded appearance to what would otherwise he a plain ground.
The fabric may be woven in any preferred variety or combination of colors for giving effect to the design above described, the characteristic feature of which is, the combination of shaded longitudinal and transverse stripes forming a plaid, with the ground ot'the square formed by the intersection of the stripes, also shaded in a checkered pattern, as shown.
What I claim is- The design for fancy cassilnere fabrics, substantiall y as herein described, and represented in the drawings.
