Specification forming part of Design No. 8,566, dated August 17, 1875; application filed August 7, 1875. [Term of Patent 31} years.]

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, ALFRED HEALD, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, have produced or invented a Design for a Carpet-Pattern, of which the following is a specification:

The accompanying photographic illustration represents Snfiicient of a carpet-pattern to illustrate my design, the remainder of the pattern being merely a repetition of that which appears.

The main feature of the design is the oblong figure A, the corners of which are formed into scrolls, and the interior of which is ornamented with a figure, a. At the sides and ends of the figure A is arranged line-work b, of a character clearly shown.

Between the corners of two adjacent figures, A, is arranged a group of flowers, leaves, and stems, d, and in the space thus inclosed is a central figure. e, of a crosslet shape, from the edges of which project numbers of fine sprays, f.

Irrespective of the colors employed, I claim 1. Thedesign for the figure A, with its scrolllike corners, central ornament a, and line work b, as shown and described.

2. The design for the whole pattern, including the figure A, group 01, and figure e, as shown and described.
