Description

OF D 1.0196! No. 10,961 December 10, 1878 UNITED STTES RICHARD T.
\Vl] ll. 1, 0 F RAND A LS'T'O W N,
ll it E I} A N I) DESlGN FOR WOVEN BORDERS FOR TOWELS.
Specificationforming pnrtofDesign No. 0,961, dated December-10,1878; application tiled November M, 1878. [Term of patent 3% years] To all whom it may concern:
Beitknown that I, RICHARD TIIQMAS W 121m, of Randalstown, in the county of Antrim, Ireland, have invented and produced a new and original Design or Pattern for \Vovcn Borders for the Ends of Towels or other similar articles; and I do hereh declare the follow ing to be a full and clear description of said design, reference being had to the accompanying photographic illustration, forming a part of this specification.
The design consists of the central figure, A, formed by the interweaving of the threads, as shown, having on each side of this central figure, at equal distances therefrom, the spirally-formed bands or stripes B B and the narrow figures O (J, and on the extreme outer edges the double-corded figures or stripes 1) D and the intervening blank spaces E E.
This pattern may be woven entirely in white,
the configuration of the design being produced by raised or heavy threads only; or it may be produced more strikingly in colors by the use of colored strands, such as red and blue, for some of the figures.
The pattern of the towel or article on which the border is used is immaterial, as this design is for the border or end finish, and may be produced on any style or pattern of towel or other similar article, and formed in part or whole of any desired color.
What I claim as my invention or production, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, 1s-
The design for woven border for towels and other similar articles, substantially as shown in the annexed photographic illustration.
RICHARD THUS. VElfill.
