Description

UNITED STATES LESTER V. BURTON, OF ROCHESTER, NEW YORK.
DESIGN FOR AN ADVERTISING-DESK.
Specification forming part of Design No. 5,214, dated August 22, 11571.
To all whom it may concern:
Bc it known that I, LESTER W. BURTON, of the city ot' Rochester, in the county of Monroe and State of New York, have invented or produced a new and original Design for an Advertising \\"'1'iting-'1able, of which the following is a specieation:
My improved design consists ot' a writing-table having two inclined surfaces or leaves, with a central raised partition extending longitudin-.tlly from end to end, surmounted by separated frames oi' ornamental form, said partition and frames being` both adapted to holding advertisiiig-cards.
In the drawing, Figure l is a front elevation, and Fig. 2 an end elevation.
A is the table, resting on ornamental legs B B. U U are the two inclined leaves or writingsurfaees. D is the central raised partition, which extends longitudinally from end to end. On top it is straight or in a plane the Whole length; at the ends it is Wedge-shaped or pyramidal in forni. E E E are the separated frames or see tions which surmount the partition, being ofthe ornamental form shown. The opposite sides of the partition and oi' the frames are formed with panels t a, t a and b b b, which receive advertising-cards, which are secured by hinged lids with gla covers.
This table is especially adapted to hotels and public rooms, and presents an ornamental and beautiful appearance. The raised partition presents a separation between the two sides of the table, while the snrmounting frames relieve the monotony ofthe plane-surface and give a pleasing elfect. The parts are highly ornamented by carved and fancy work, as shown.
What I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The design for the advertising writing-table, as herein shown.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto signed my name in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
Witnesses: L. W. BURTON.
